Its a good laptop but I can't tell if its good for you because you didn't specify why your buying it.
Darren
Ahh. tongue.gif

I usually use it for school work and playing games (not WoW or Guild Wars). I just want a decent computer (like above) as I can use a 15% off voucher for it. smile.gif

What's the price you'll pay for it?

And what's the full name (Asus so and so)? If it's online a link would be nice.
Darren

I'll be using a 15% discount voucher so it make it around... $850 for it.

(sorry I had to use an image instead of a link, as the link would give out details of my local location. tongue.gif)

Im not too keyed up on the exchange rates atm so ill take a round guesstimate and say thats like £600.

Not too sure, but if it is, i'd say a studio 15 from Dell would be cheaper and more suited to you (unless the games are like FPS'), and you could afford to get the guarantee too.

Dont take my word as the gospel though.

I really don't know European prices, but the computer should be fine for you. What games are you going to be playing?

Can you find any specifics on which GPU it comes with, just a "256Mb GeForce" doesn't say much when you want to be gaming
Darren
I'm not much of a gamer, I sometimes play internet games (such as RuneScape) but I want to use it just for school work and browsing around. biggrin.gif

Oh okay, it should be fine then wink.gif

unless you want to run it super smooth on Hd RS, then i'd try to find a 512Mb GeForce, generally these will be the higher end GPU's anyway, so you won't have to go scavenging for the model -- That extra 256Mb of VRAM can help a lot, but for you, a 256 should be fine

For a game like RS HD, 512MB on a video card is overkill. tongue.gif 128/256MB is adequate.

If you want the best bang for your buck, I would honestly suggest downgrading the model. I stated before that RS HD is not really demanding when it comes to your computer's efficiency, and since you are also using it for general use, you could save a hundred bucks from a downgrade on something like the video card.

Well it all depends on the prise, personelly, I always find torubles with PC laptops, and if you have enough money for a macbook or better, and pro, then you should buy that and get the software that lets you run windows on it.

If you have the money, I would spend it on higher-level PC notebooks, as the better hardware comes around cheaper. tongue.gif
Doom
If you want to get a better value for that money, buy this instead.

Better Video Card, Bigger Hard Drive, More Memory, for 4$ more. You'll have more options in games if you ever decide to try some more demanding games.
Darren
Thanks for all of your comments. smile.gif I decided to get a different laptop from the one listed in my first post because they had no stock at the place I was going to originally buy it from, and the person who was helping me was giving me the [obscene]. I got an Acer Aspire 6530 for a pretty good deal from Harvey Norman. smile.gif I love this computer, it has everything I need.

Once again, thanks. biggrin.gif
