ISomething was cool at first but I think they're really starting to overuse it do you think they should come up with a new naming scheme?

Isn't it the same with any company? Ford name all their cars as Ford XXXX, Microsoft name all their software as Microsoft XXXX and Adobe name all their products as Adobe XXXX.

It's called branding and it's not going to change. The golden arches of McDonalds is another example.

Actually, it's 'i' as in 'iMac' and 'iPod'. Much like Asus' 'Eee'. Don't confuse the two, although they sound similar when pronounced phonetically.

It's their mark, I don't think it will or needs changing.

Apple wont do anything about it like mentioned above its the patent basically. You dont want to get rid of a patent.

Why get rid of something that is popular? iPod, iMac, iSight, iWorks, iLife, iTunes, iCal, the list does go on.
If it works, keep it. I don't find it really annoying. It sort of lets people know that it's an Apple product.

Although it's stupid all the products now that have i in front. Most are not apple I bet.
But I do think they should keep it. Just don't have iEverything. Like GarageBand. Doesn't need an i.

I don't mind apple using it but when other companies start naming their stuff like that it gets annoying.

Hey, let's stop calling the Playstation along the lines of "1", "2", and "3"! Why? Cause it is so repetitive!
It sounds cool to call something "iMac" or "iPod". Therefore, it's not going to change.

Yeah I have to agree. I don't think its a great name but its become a trademark.

I don't see the problem with having a recognizable logo.

I find it ok, but it's annoying when people start using it for their names on the internet and stuff.

Sometimes y is always forgotten in the list of vowels...(cries silently)
Na, its a way of branding and its kinda catchy too. Not all of their programs have 'i' at the middle, so they haven't killed it either

iCarly ftw

EDIT: Notice a lot of brands do this. Even the new lol___ siggy craze

There should be a 'A little' option in the poll. But no, I don't think they are overusing it. Only a little.

"i" stands for somethin, in a keynote Steve Jobs said it stands for "independence", and when the first iMacs rolled out, they bragged about how fast the internet was, so the i stood for "internet". I agree Apple is using it to much, but they have gotten a tad better. iBook has changed to Macbook lol

iBook changed to MacBook
iTV changed to Apple TV
iNet changed to Safari
iSearch changed to Spotlight
And, there is probably more, but I can't come up with any more.
So, no the term iXxxx is going away. Though not "going away" as in forever, Apple uses iXxxx as a trademark. And just so everyone understands its not Ixxxx its iXxxx (a lowercase "i" followed by a capitol letter). AND NO DASHED!
ex. "I-POD" or "i-POD" or any other variation ITS "iXxxx";
The "i" in iXxxx does not stand for anything. It was a joke in the keynote.
