I've been wanting a laptop for a long time, and I finally have a decent amount of money, $530. So I've decided that I want to buy one, but I need help. Is this a good deal for a laptop? I need an extra $60 for a wireless router, so that leaves me with $470. I need to know whether this is the one I should buy, or just keep saving up to get more money.

Note: I will only be using this laptop for the internet/playing Runescape. I don't need a high-tech laptop for gaming.

Any comments will be good, please post. smile.gif

I really recommend you save up a little bit more. Acer laptops aren't very good laptops from what I've heard.

I agree. smile.gif Probably save up to $800 and get yourself a VAIO laptop? Their price varies but you can get one of them from that much.

But wouldn't you rather save up money for a VAIO? They are one of the best notebooks available!

Not being trying to be malicious, but you really are a Sony fanboy, aren't you laugh.gif

Anyway, in just a quick look I came up with this, but I'll keep looking around smile.gif

EDIT: btw, where are you from?

I would love to save up more, but that would take a long time. The only way I make money is from Christmas, my birthday, and grades. I don't have a job. pfft.gif

I'm from Indiana, and I can't buy from Newegg or anywhere online because my parents don't use their credit card over the internet. It sucks, but I can deal with it.

Yay, another Hoosier happy.gif

Anyway, I looked on atleast 5 local store's sites (Bestbuy, staples, officedepot, radioshack, and office max specifically) and finally found one. It has a 15.4" srceen, 4 star average from 11 reviews, 120 GB HDD, Vista home premium, 1 GB (Upgradable to 2 iirc, and the only big downside, 1.4 Ghz CPU.
I did search the main Indianapolis area zip code, and it had no store locations, but I don't know about you.

Incase that doesn't work, I did find this, which is good for the price, but meh.

All together, it would be much more worth your while to just wait for $150 or so more, and you'll have a lot more choices.

Look for the Samsung NC10. It's a truly awesome piece of kit, however it doesn't come with 3g Internet and the mousepad is too small, but in every other respect it is the best mini laptop smile.gif

I really recommend for you to buy a notebook later when you have more money. If you buy one now, you'll only be able to choose from a crappy selection of 2 to 5 notebooks from major retailers. However, with the money you have now, it's possible for you to buy a Dell Mini from a store. It's lightweight, so you can take it around easily, and its components are adequate for what you expect to do with it.

He already said that he wouldn't save up more, and i don't really think it's worth it for a notebook. Basically it's a way of selling a smaller screen for more money.
