Hi, I have a few questions about an iPhone component. I read that with this Installer.app you can download several 3rd party apps. My question is the following: Is this considered "Jailbreaking"? What are the pros and cons of installer.app? Also, what is and what can Jailbreaking do for your Iphone? Is it safe?

Finally, are there any apps in the Itunes App store that allow you to zoom when taking photos, also, are there any apps that allow you to take videos on your Iphone?

If the apps are not in the app store, it's probably jailbraking. It voids the warranty of your phone, so if you want to take it to an Apple store, you'll have to scrub the phone and pretend you didn't do anything. I haven't heard of a zooming or video app, sorry.

Ok, but you can still restore it by clicking like "restore" on itunes when it is plugged in right?

From what I understand, yes. I've never jailbroken, so you might want to get another source to confirm what I said.

Ya, that is what I am researching now.

Is anyone familiar with QuickPwn?

This, this, this, and this are great sites for all things iPhone, including jailbreaking.

Thank you very much!

Scroll down to Jailbreaking to get your questions answered and get more information.

I used QuickPwn on my iPod Touch to jailbreak it. Idiot proof basically.

There are video recording Apps I believe (should be there). I haven't looked extensively through the Jailbreak App Store as I only had mine jailbroken for a few days (found no need, although Intelliscreen was a nice application). I did find it slowed down my Touch a bit but that may be just my experience. Some love their jailbroken Touch/iPhone.

The warranty thing is still in the air I think. I haven't seen any evidence pointing 100% either way. I just restored mine, though. Should work.
