I laughed at the other topic. smile.gif But Apple has released some new products. What do you think of them?

17" Unibody MacBook Pro

iLife '09

iWorks '09

iTunes Store DRM-free

Personally, I love the new 17" MacBook Pro. I want one but it's basically $5000 including taxes for what I want. Fully loaded with 8GB of RAM. <3 I will probably update to iWorks and iLife '09 later on, too. Wish they had a combo package. Maybe one will come out later.

Discuss.

You could always buy the Mac Box Set, it comes with updated Leopard, iLife '09, and iWork '09 for only $169.99.

Except I'm in the same sort of situation. I bought a MacBook in September with '08 iWorks and iLife on it running Leopard. So the $169.99 upgrade turns out to be more. There will probably be a $99-129 upgrade that has only iLife and iWorks - hopefully.

The upgrade is $79. I'm probably going to upgrade iLife, as I have Office '08 instead of iWork.

Umm, add $1200 for 8GB of Memory? Doesn't that seem like a bit much?

Yes, but I have iLife, iWorks and Office on my laptop. I always want to stay current which isn't good for my bank account. I'll be shelling out close to $200 to keep up to Apple. Wait for a bit, though.

Apple's memory upgrades are always more expensive. This is overly expensive, though. How much are 4GB DDR3 sticks anyways?

DDR3 is usually 30-40 dollars per GB. However, since this is a single 4GB, it may be a little more expensive. But really, 1200? slanty.gif

Why exactly would you need 8GB of RAM anyway? Planning on playing several games at once?

You can get the best set of DDR3 out there for $600 (6GB). Apple memory is usually decent quality samsung but it should be nowhere near 1200.

Yes, but the best kind of DDR3 memory like that isn't usually used in mainstream computers like Apple's, because of the cost.
