Is there any way that I can actually uninstall internet explorer? I have firefox now and IE doesnt show up in my programs to uninstall so if somebody can tell me how that would be appreciated.

Many things are based on IE so you can't. The best that you can do it set Firefox as your preset browser. Anyway IE doesn't take up much space or anything.

Unfortunately, IE is tied in closely with the OS (see topic about the European Comission) so you can't remove it.
