Because I'm trying to quote a portion of a previous post, as a single separate post, and I'm getting it's too long even though I have a longer one previously...

That's just harsh slanty.gif

I obviously don't know who did it, but do you know what the new number is?

Don't worry, I found it funny.

Anyway, there was a maximum on characters per post? Hmm, I guess this would be important for what you're doing Slei.

Maybe it was a good idea. Those topics with massive amounts of quotes are very annoying. Oh, and I'd like to know the number of characters per post just in case I need it for odd reason.

I believe this was made due to all those "Take up as much space" as you can topics. Personally when a forum member is trying to make a huge, important, post, it could get annoying. I hope this doesn't affect the StoryMat as when you post a huge chapter.

Used to be around the 200k mark. Don't know how much now. As for the Story Mat, I don't think anyone will run into trouble there. If memory serves the range help guide was around 7000 words in the original concept. Haven't seen a story that long in the Story Mat.
Neo Avatars
The limit hasn't changed since I last looked several months back and stands at ~100k characters, though the used figure seems to vary from time to time and post to post. This was fine at 52k characters (a couple of months ago). In this post I could have 97k characters, but not 106k, so the limit fits somewhere between those two figures. There are also limits for emoticons, images and quotes that may be causing problems... though the error message should be different if you reach those.

I wrote a story that had to go on three separate posts, and I know I wasn't the only one. (Po, Sryen and maybe some others have had 2+ post stories, and really it's just annoying to post stories on separate pages, as you go along.) Neo's right, I remember being stopped at 108,000 or so but I guess that was a bit of an overstatement on my memory's part.

Is it possible to make the character limit different on different forums? Maybe lower it in the Lounge and heighten it in the Guides and Story Mat?

Yeah, Lord Vega and I both ran into the limit a year or more ago. It was around the same then, 100k characters (my story was at 20k words at the time, so it seems about right). I doubt the limit has actually changed in that time.
Po22
Heh. My story filled up like five posts fully.

It was annoying to have to...pentapost. Very annoying. Change the character limit, it would benefit writers deeply.

Sryen
I'm going to agree with raising it. My own story took three posts and a bit of a fourth. Although I had lucked out because I had made every other post up to that point, I can see it being a problem when an author wants to keep everything on the first page but doesn't have the room to do so.
