How do I open up a render from a website. I know in gimp it's file > open location, but it's not like that in photoshop. Dragging it doesn't work, either.

what i do is - go to the picture of the render
right click - copy image
go to photoshop, hit CTRL-V. Your render should be there in a new layer for ya

Yes, but you still get the black background with that (especially from planet renders).
In gimp you can hit open location and it goes onto a transparent background, no black.
CS3 by the way.

With photoshop?
What I do is I do File>New from clipboard. Just remember to copy the image first.

Ok, that's not working...
This is the image. How do I open that up without the black. I click the picture, it gets bigger and it's transparent in that window, but when I paste it, nothing shows up.

I guess I can just save it and then reopen it. What a hassle.

Just save the image then and open it with PhotoShop.

Use the magic wand tool then, at 0 tolerance, then hit the big delete button.

No need to save.

But sometimes that doesn't work when there's black on your render.

Sometimes I think gimp is more convenient than photoshop.

Open the full size image and use save as. Usually it will be a .gif or a PNG. The problem usually only affects .gifs
