You can use it on a different partition of your harddrive, and vista will not be touched, you you can use both functionally. Now if you only want windows 7, not sure what games will work, but just write down your serial numbers for office, redownload it on windows 7 and use your original serials.

Yes, you can run it on a different part of your computer. Yes, Macs use Boot Camp to make a windows partition. I used the trial of
Paragon Partition Editor to make my partitions, because I found the built-in Vista one (Yes, there is one) difficult to use.
How much extra space do you have on your HDD?

I recall accidently see the top 100 windows downloads (

), and Windows 7 was on there, so i should be speedy. You might be able to find a mirror somewhere though

Sorry, that would be against the rules, even though it a legal torrent. Really, a simple gogle search works wonders.

Install Windows 7 on your second hard drive, when it is finished installing choose which operating system you want to boot to.

When you download Windows 7, it will be an .ISO file, you have to burn it onto a DVD (or use software like PowerISO to mount it on a virtual drive), and then you boot up next, you hit F8 (I think), and select your disc drive. Then it will go through the installation steps, including picking what partition/hard drive you want to put it on. After that you have the option for both when you boot up

Okay i finally got it to work. New question however. I want to transfer everything to windows 7 excluding my games because it probably wont run correctly on it how do i do it? Also how do i reconfigure how much space to add to each harddrive. this is what my hard drive is right now.

You would use a back-up tool, for example the windows one build in (Which again, isn't very good). I don't have a lot of experience backing up stuff, so you should probably ask someone else, although it shopuld be pretty self-explanatory with a good tool.
EDIT: Actually, I think I do remember seeing an option to transfer files during windows installs... Why don't you try using it blank/basic first, to make sure you want to use it

Well what software would u recommend? The built in one automatically saves everything from system drive which i dont want becuase its like 160gb i just want the one from the recovery which is only like 19gb
let me ask this is windows 7 safe? Like safe enough to replace vista?

I would definitely say keep Vista, because keep in mind this is a Beta, with a lot of potential to go wrong, but as long as you have everything saved elsewhere too, using the Beta for now would be fine. As I said, the last time I backed stuff up, I just drag and dropped, you you should probably ask someone else.

Facepalm doesn't do that justice. Did you actually create a partition like we and the instructions tell you to? And if it works in Vista then chances are it's going to work in Win7. What mic is it?

You have to update your audio drivers. Use the Vista drivers (32-bit or 64-bit--whichever your system runs). When you're in the control panel, you'll probably have to reset the default microphone device. When I was messing around last, I had the issue where the only microphone that worked (temporarily) was the front-audio port microphone, instead of the rear-audio port microphone. Fix that and it should come right back. And depending on the microphone you're using, you may want to add Microphone boost--for good measure.
