-Introduction-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
You walk down a somewhat dark tunnel, light every so often by a soft yellow light. A half-step behind you walks a woman, wearing light colored robes. Ahead of you appears a small floating orb. It opens slightly, revealing a red eye-like lens.
"Hello, my name is CR-879," it says in a plesant voice. "I am here to congradulate you on becoming one of the select few to join us at the Palace! More importantly, I am here to tell you more about the Palace.-"
As the machine speaks, he bring a hand up to feel the slim round metal collar around your neck. It seems slightly warm to the touch. As you run a hand against it, you realize once again that there is no seam from where they snapped it on.
"-As you may know, the Palace has been here for the past two hundred years. For the past two hundred years, we have been aiding children and young people who have been born with the Gift. To keep you from falling behind in classes that you will be missing over the next few years, machines have been built into each bed that will stimulate your mind, giving you the the information that you would normally recieve at a steady pace.-"
You feel slightly like making a remark when it speaks of "the next few years," but decide you're better off not doing so. As you come across an intersection of the tunnels, you look down one side, noticing two young boys standing near a tree, wearing rather expensive looking clothing. The woman, the Sister, who had been a half step behind steps forward, blocking your view. You turn your attention back to the orb.
"-Also, to protect students from the more dangerous areas of the Palace, there have been shields placed that restrict access to certain areas. It would be recommended not to try to break these shields, as some are much more dangerous than others.-"
You let the machine ramble off the prerecorded message as you think about what life will be like. After several minutes of thinking, you realize the orb has shut again and is leading you in silence. After a short time, you notice a light coming through the tunnel. As you exit the tunnel, a cluster of buildings larger that you have ever seen before comes into view.
"Welcome to the Palace of the Prophets."

-History-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
The year is 2350. Late in the 21st Century, a great war was fought over natural resources. However, as the war raged, the planet came into peril. There was an imminent meteor shower that, unless stopped, could easily destroy a large portion of the planet's population. An international peace treaty was signed, seeing the danger more important, and the World Defense Force, or WDF, was formed. The WDF forced most countries to surrender any weapons that could do any good for them, such as atomic and nuclear bombs, and used them in an attempt to stop the meteors. Most of the meteors were destroyed, but the number that still hit the planet created mass chaos and death.
After many years, life returned mostly to normal. The peace treaty held, and the world was safe from war. Scientists eventually found ways to create machines that ran off of water and hydrogen and to grow plants much faster, ending much of the resource crisis.
Nobody knows exactly when or how the Palace came to be. Sometime within the first fifty years of the peace treaty, the Palace was found in the remains of Australia, which had been nearly destroyed by meteors. They said that women were there, helping return the land to the way it once was; they called themselves the Sisters of Light. There was much speculation over these Sisters. People feared them as much as they were in awe of them; what caused the most of both of these was the magic, the Gift, the Sisters' commanded. The Sisters seemed to only use the Gift for benevolent reasons, but people still feared them.
Another reason the people awed and feared the Sisters was because of the Prophet. The Prophet seemed to be the only man living within the Palace, and he seemed to be of great power; he predicted the deaths of powerful leaders, the discovery of cures, and the spreading of the Gift.
The Sisters began to warn people of the Prophet's vision, stating that the youth of the world would begin to get painful headaches and turn ill; these were the symptoms of the Gift. Soon, as the Prophet had predicted, children across the planet became ill with the symptoms. The world government thought the Sisters were doing this, and began to plan to destroy the Palace; however, when the children of several of the leaders became ill with the symptoms, the plans were changed. Whether it be coincidence or not, the Palace remained standing.
Now, in the year 2350, you are a young teenager. Several weeks ago, a Sister came to your home, stating that the Gift was to shortly awaken in you. They placed a thin round metal collar, what they called the Rada'Han, around your neck. Over the past few weeks, they took you across the lands to the Palace of the Prophets. (This is where the RP will begin).

-Technology-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
Being in the year 2350, technology has obviously evolved. While teleportation and forms of personal flight have been achieved, they have been deemed too dangerous and have been banned from all commercial use. Cloning has also been deemed dangerous and has been only allowed to be used on flora and livestock. Although personal flight is kept from use, levitation has been reached and is used for lighter objects, such as small-motored vehicles and robots. As already said, robots have been built and, similar to vehicles, run on water and hydrogen. They are most commonly used for simple household use, such as cleaning, or for other simple jobs.
With the forming of the peace treaty, most weapons were destroyed; the only weapons similar to what once existed are handguns and hunting weapons. Laser technology has been deemed dangerous as well, only being used now for planetary defense and educational reasons. Most weapons are now electrical, used against machines that go haywire or as self-defense weapons.
NOTE: Most technology at the Palace of the Prophets is older; besides robots, the most commonly seen technology is the machines connected to beds, allowing one to learn as they sleep.

-The Gift-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
The Gift, as the Sisters call it, is an ability that a person is born with. However, it is unable to be determined if one is able to use it until it awakens itself. Although it has been heard of the Gift awakening early in a person, it most often awakens in their early teen years (14-16). When the Gift manifests itself, the child will begin to feel ill. They will have painful headaches that get worse by the day, until they can no longer move. Within a month of the Gift's awakening, the headaches will kill the child. The only way to stop this is for them to learn to use the Gift.
-The Rada'Han-
The Rada'Han is a device that helps ease the pain of the Gift when it first manifests. However, the Rada'Han itself will not save you. If you do not learn to control the Gift, it will slowly kill you, much as the headaches do. It is unknown how the Rada'Han works. The only ones able to remove the Rada'Han are the Sisters of the Light and the one who wears it; to do so, however, takes many many years. While the Rada'Han is on, the wearer's Han is mostly blocked off, giving them little power and keeping them from doing rash or foolish things with it.
-The Calling-
While the Gift is the person's ability to use magic, the Calling is what they are to do with it. For example, even if someone is not born with the Gift of Subtractive Magic (read -Magic- for more), they may still gain it through the Calling and many extra years of training.
Examples of Callings: Sisters of Light, Prophet, etc. (list of current Callings is under -The Gifted-)

Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
"Additive Magic uses what is there and adds to it, or uses it somehow... I use whatever I need in nature to change things. I can change a bug into a flower, I can change a fear into a monster, I can make a broken bone knit, I can take heat from the air around us and add to it, multiply it, into wizard's fire... I can make my beard grow. But I can't make it ungrow... I can lift or crush or move the rock, but I can't make it vanish. Where would it go? That's called Subtractive Magic: the undoing of things... All Magic from this world is Additive Magic... Subtractive Magic is from the underworld... Subtractive Magic is the counter to Additive. As night is to day. Yet it is all part of the same thing..."
-Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, Wizard's First Rule
There are two sides to the Gift and, as the Sisters call the magic, Han: Additive and Subtractive.

As explained above, Additive Magic is the use of things that already exists. It takes what is there and adds to it.

-Shields and Webs-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
-Shields-
By adding to the amount of air within a secluded space, a Sister can form a shield. This shield can be used to keep a person within a room, block a weaker form of Han, or block off a hall or area. Shields can also be made of the other elements; however, air is the strongest and thus is most often used. Shields can also have certain effects to them, such as sending pain into anyone that touches it or setting off traps.
-Webs-
A wizard's web can be used for many different things. Powerful wizard's webs can hide something or someone's appearance, erase a memory from all who ever knew it, and other things. Webs can also be used to check if someone entered an area; quite often, Sisters will set up webs in entrances. If someone walks through the web, it breaks. If they notice it and try to repair it, their Han is in it as well, making it obvious who went through.

-Wizard's Fire and Wizard's Life Fire-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
Wizard's Fire is a special type of fire, extremely powerful. It has the power to burn through most anything at full strength. Those who have seen Wizard's Fire describe it as "a ball of yellow and blue liquid flame." A wizard can control the movement of his fire, making it shoot down corridors and turn.
Wizard's Life Fire is very different from Wizard's Fire. The Life Fire is made by sacrificing your own life to create it. The Life Fire is extremely powerful, capable of killing anyone within a twenty foot distance. Wizard's Life Fire is also unique in the ashes it creates; if a wizard uses his Life Fire for shelfish reasons, such as escaping pain, the ashes left from it will taste bitter, while a wizard who does it to protect others creates sweet ashes and soot.

-The Gifted-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
There are many different Callings for those with the Gift. The different types of Gifted (so far in this Roleplay) are:
The Prophet**:
Prophets are very rare, coming perhaps once in every thousand years. They recieve visions at random, each coming with a spoken phrase to it. Should another Prophet hear or read the phrase, they will recieve the same vision. A Prophet can also send the vision into another's mind; however, they rarely ever do so, as it can injure the person's mind beyond repair. Many of the prophecies, however, have multiple "forks," meaning that depending on what one person does, one of many different prophecies can happen. Because of this, many prophecies are useless, as they are already on false forks. Prophecies are also rarely how they sound, often twisting into ways that one would never think.
Wizards:
Wizards are men that have learned to control their Gift, as well as young men who are attempting to. Their form of the Gift is slightly different than that of a Sorceresses; however, they are still alike in many ways.
War Wizard*:
A War Wizard is a wizard who has control over both Additive and Subtractive Magic. They are an extremely powerful force, capable of crippling a weaker nation on their own. It is said that war wizards acquire strange appetites; the most obvious of this is their sickness of meat. There has only been one born with the Calling of the war wizard since the Palace came into this world.
Sorceresses:
Sorceresses are women who have gained control over the Gift and younger women who are trying to. All the Sisters at the Palace of the Prophets are sorceresses. They are similar to wizards in many ways; however, their Han is slightly different to control. Many sorceresses at the Palace are also Sisters-in-Training.
Witches*:
Witches are women who have powerful control of their Han. Little is known about them, as only a handful have lived in the past two hundred years. It is believed that they have visions similar to that of a Seer; however, this has yet to be proven.
Seers**:
Seers are women who, from a young age, have visions of the future. Unlike Prophets, who see visions of the futures of many, Seers see visions of people only when they see them in person. For example, a Prophet might see the birth of a future dicator without ever meeting the child, while a Seer will only know once they have come face-to-face with them.
*-NPC class. Very unlikely they will become playable throughout the RP.
**- NPC class. Somewhat likely they will become playable during the RP (only one of each)

-The Sisters-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
The Sisters of Light or, as most people call them, the Sisters are powerful sorceresses that use their magic to aid young people with the Gift learn to control it. While at the Palace, a Sister-in-Training is assigned to each of the Gifted to help them whenever they need help. If the Gifted passes the many tests and trials of becoming a wizard or sorceress, the Sister-in-Training becomes a full fledged Sister.
One of the many jobs for the Sisters is to go out and find those born with the Gift. When the Gift manifests itself in a child, the Prophet knows, and anywhere from one to three Sisters are sent out to retreive him/her. Upon finding the child, any other children in the family are watched, as it appears that the Gift is somehow connected to genetics.
It is unknown where the Sisters are from; whenever asked, they simply say they came from Home. They also seem not to know how they came to this world. What makes it even more mysterious is that the Sisters, no matter what test they are put through, appear to be human.
Over the past two hundred years, many have come to accept the religion of the Sisters as their own. The Sisters believe in two powers: The Creator and the Keeper. The Creator is all good; he is what makes everything that ever was, is, and ever shall be. The Keeper, or the Keeper of the Dead, is the force that destroys and kills; the only thing ever created by the Keeper was Subtractive Magic.
The true goal of the Sisters is to do the Creators work, through any means they can. While many Sisters remain at the Palace and help the Gifted to do this, several have gone off into the world to help others who need their help.
As time has gone on, many young Gifted girls have gone on to live lifes as Sisters at the Palace. Currently, around 80% of the Sisters at the Palace are Gifted women from this world.
-The Prelate-
The Prelate is the leader of the Sisters of Light. She is marked by a gold ring with a sun-shaped pattern.

-The Palace-
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
The Palace of the Prophets is a large cluster of buildings; many of the towers around the Palace are at least ten or more stories tall. There is a large courtyard surrounding the Palace from all sides, with a small river running through it. Around the courtyard is a large metal structure filled with tunnels leading to small, private sanctuaries; this structure, the Palace Walls, marks the entrance to the Palace of the Prophets.
Ever since the Palace came to be, there has been a series of spells over it. However, there are only two known by most who live there. The first spell is a barrier, which keeps anyone with a Rada'Han around their neck from going much further than a mile out into the country around Tanimura. If one wearing a Rada'Han touches it, it feels like running into a solid wall, one which cannot be broken. The second spell, known by many around the world, affects the aging process of the people who live in the Palace. It is said that for every fifteen years everyone outside the city ages, the people within the Palace age one. Though it is unknown exactly how slow they age, it is show that this spell also affects those who live around the Palace, within Tanimura and the surrounding countryside.
The Palace itself is very lavish; each person within the Palace has their own room, filled with expensive clothes; the wizards- and sorceresses-in-training are given a bowl of gold and silver that they are free to spend on whatever they choose; if the bowl is ever near empty, the Sisters refill it.
While most wizards and sorceresses in the Palace are allowed to go anywhere within the barrier, there are some who are not. Wizards and Sorceresses near the end of their training, along with certain others, are restricted to certain areas within the Palace. The Prophet, for example, is rarely to be let out of his room; the prophecies he speaks are too dangerous for anyone but the Sisters to hear themselves.
While there are rules against "vulgar behavior" at the Palace, the Sisters do approve of relationships between sorceresses and wizards. The main reason for this is because it seems there is a higher chance of two with the Gift of having a child born with it as well.
-The City of Tanimura-
Outside of there lies a large city named Tanimura. It is in the shape of a large circle, the Palace at its heart. The city is filled with rich and noble people, paying high prices to live there. There are many large clothing stores, selling everything from the average to the outlandish, their prices varying as much as their styles. Many things within Tanimura are highly overpriced, as the sellers know the Gifted can buy whatever they want, as the Palace pays for everything for them.

Many of the names (Rada'Han, Sisters of Light, Prelate, Tanimura, Palace of Prophets, etc.), quotes, and some other elements of this RP come from the Sword of Truth book series by Terry Goodkind. (buy them. read them. love them.)
I might choose a Co-DM once the story starts off. However, for now, there is none.
Suggestions are welcome.

3-18: Added NPCs, Added small pieces to different sections (most notably -The Sisters-).
