Full Version: Pre-purchase Advice And More
Sal's RuneScape Forum > Everything RuneScape > RuneScape Updates & News
Common Sense

When it comes to great weapons and armour there is plenty of choice in RuneScape. In fact there are so many different items it’s sometimes hard to keep track of them all. This is why we are introducing the pre-purchase advice tool. Before you buy anything – from a shop, at the Grand Exchange, or from another player – you can now check out what the bonuses of the item are, and, in the case of worn items, whether there are any restrictions that might prevent you from wearing them. You can use this tool to find out what skills you need to train, and what quests you need to complete, to use a particular item.

Those of you who are in possession of a dragon platebody will see that it has undergone a graphical overhaul, as requested by you on the forums.

Next, we have made a change to the equipped inventory screen for Ranged weapons, so now you can see the ranged strength of weapons like javelins, arrows and crossbow bolts.

The fourth upgrade for this week will save you valuable seconds in times of need. The Prayer button near the minimap has undergone an overhaul so you can now set a prayer, or group of prayers, before you go into action, and activate or de-activate it with one click. The button will also indicate the loss of Prayer points by gradually fading out – similar to the behaviour of the Hitpoints button. This should help prevent you accidentally running out of Prayer points, and finding yourself suddenly vulnerable to attack.

As you may know, we recently made some changes to the Culinaromancer’s chest in Lumbridge and the gnome cuisine fruit ‘n’ veg shop in the Grand Tree. We have now reconsidered these changes, and have decided to implement a different approach: we have returned the shops’ stock prices to their former state, and have removed the option to sell stock back to those shops.

Finally, we’ve taken on board the feedback you gave us about last month’s quest list improvement, and made changes in response to some common issues. New text makes it clear when not all quests are shown, but the best improvements are behind the scenes: the options you set before you log out will be there again when you return, and we have greatly reduced the delay involved in switching the list between quests and achievements.

Patch Notes (QFC: 15-16-320-58575028)

The following small fixes and adjustments have now been made to the game. If you spot any further bugs in-game, please use the Bug Report feature ('Submit a Bug Report' under the 'Help' drop-down menu of the website).

Graphical
  • The horns on dragon medium helms no longer float on female players. This was fixed alongside the dragon armour update.
  • Fixed an issue amulets had when rendering with the dragon platebody.
  • The imp chathead is no longer a human head in an imp suit – again!
  • Stopped a zombie from playing a human animation that made it appear to explode briefly. Zombies in RuneScape have enough to worry about without an irrational fear of spontaneous combustion.
  • Fixed a graphical issue with the light beams in the light maze from Mourning’s Ends Part II.

Quests
  • Fixed an issue with the statues in Bandos’s Throne Room after completing the Chosen Commander.
  • Slightly adjusted the logic in the final part of Chosen Commander.
  • Fixed an issue with the Chosen Commander quest journal not scrolling to the end when completed.
  • Your Magic interface will now be correctly restored after a certain point in Cold War.
  • Changed code to prevent the game crashing in HD mode during the Underground Pass quest.
  • Updated some of the Dragon Slayer code when you have to repair the boat.
  • Enhanced logic for the One Small Favour quest when making a drink from several ingredients.
  • Code dealing with Rantz and the Big Chompy Bird Hunting quest has now been properly fixed.
  • Fixed a problem with the Back to my Roots end fight in Low Detail.
  • In the Eyes of Glouphrie quest, Hazelmere was occasionally cutting the chat short mid conversation. This has been fixed.

Minigames
  • Updated some arithmetic logic with Farmer Blinkin's Vinesweeper minigame.

Miscellaneous
  • We’ve slightly adjusted the way you make darts.
  • Bones can now be offered in varying quantities in the chapel in your Player-Owned House.
  • Updated several of the chat menu interfaces to a newer format.
  • Adjusted the newly re-written toybox code to better deal with male and female versions of clothing.
  • The gnomecopters have been removed as we no longer wish to advertise certain members' content in the free area. As a result, the Lumbridge Achievement Diary task has been changed to reflect this. If you've already taken a ride on a gnomecopter, you won’t have to do the new task.
  • The Lumbridge Achievement Diary no longer tries to open the old-style quest list.
  • Prevented one particular object being given as a reward to free players in Random Events.
  • Removed a safe spot from PVP worlds where players couldn't attack each other.

Being the RuneScape addict veteran I am; Everything is researched and preplanned for the most efficient and effective way of achieving goals throughout RuneScape. So this wouldn't help me as such, but for the inexperienced player I'd imagine it to be very effective.

I use the Prayer skill quite often. I find that activating Prayer during combat can be quite annoying and distracts your focus, well done Jagex on this update.

This hasn't so much as bothered me, but I feel it did need improving in those areas.

Yay 1st page biggrin.gif

Prayer update is pretty useful for boss fights; for F2P the main sue would prob be in Clan Wars/Pking. Not a bad idea though.
About the Rest, I think when it comes, it might be something like beds for members, you will recover run energy faster but cant move.
macburl
wow this sounds realy neat ~) im f2p so alot of this dosent effect me anymore but the stuff here looks realy cool :~) the prayer update will definatly be a help to loads of people. (not so much to me cause i dont realy pk) i gathered from this that now the prayer symbol up near the minimap shows how much prayer points you have? i like that alot! when jagex first implimented that i wondered why hp showed but prayer did not. the item checker sounds helpful :~) it would have saved me a heap of trouble back when i was a member lol
Yippee
Awesome update. Me like! Can someone post a screen of the new dragon platebody?
Kuraudo Sutoraifu
too many prayer glitches. i turned on smite in freeplay, and eagle eye has a members statement to it, when it can be turned on, and it's freeplay.

wth.

edit: they fixed some, but many still remain.

Now all we need is a quick prayer hotkey. ohmy.gif And do I detect a rise in bone prices?

I'm not sure I'll ever use the pre-purchase advice tool, the best armor and weapons are already known. tongue.gif
Blasphemy
Methinks this is a good update! biggrin.gif

I love the small updates instead of the massive ones wub.gif

No more gnomecopters? Those we fun though. sad.gif

I'm still a bit confused - Where do we find this pre-purchase advice?

Edit: @Below: Ahh, thank you. smile.gif

When buying an item in the Grand Exchange, there will be information about the item in the bottom right. With weapons, armor, and other things that affect your attack or defense bonuses, it will also list the stats of the item. smile.gif
Ruin
prayer update sounds nice but im not sure why we cant sell back stock to the cullriemancers chest anymore.
Zachorayi
Protect Item and Piety hotkey = very useful. Though it might rob pking of some of its skill. As for the mysterious 'rest' feature... Interesting. The Range update is a little confusing, but I suppose its for the best. It does help illustrate ranged damage calculation better. As for the buy info, useful to see that stats, not really all that helpful otherwise. Nice for the inexperienced, I suppose.

When you select to buy a weapon or armour, a list of requirements shows up where your inventory, skills, etc. usually is.
Zanetrues
when u right click on the running sign at the top right of ur screen.....why does it say rest and why does it say coming soon?u can now sleep huh.gif
Pixel Bunnie
I love the Grand Exchange update and viewing the bonuses would be good and save me heaps of time because it's so frustrating having to pull up another firefox page each time and search for that information tongue.gif
Itch
Dragon Bones will go up sad.gif .
Rest will probably be an option where you can heal 2x your health but can't do anything.

The new stats update on items is probably best of the three.
It's about as good as Summoning skill.
