For Windows updates:

XP : in Internet Explorer goto update.microsoft.com
Vista: Search for Windows Update and update from there.

It needs to be done in Internet Explorer. Using other browsers should let you know so I'm not sure why you got a blank page. You probably have a shortcut to Windows Update or Microsoft Update in your Start > All Programs menu.

I keep my computer corrupted beyond belief. Gf to any virus who can survive in this hell. (My last comp blue screened 4 times, froze countless times, and the defragmenter corrupted 3 times.) - Still works fine.

One of my teachers got a popup that started talking to her. I bet she thought it was conficker.

Turns out it was just another teacher doing the cmd talking thing (forgot the name).

I was talking about the whole "on april 1st everyone will be doomed" thing. Conficker is just another worm, I haven't seen any actual documentation on what it does since noone seems to know.

+1 to both of you. Macs still get viruses....albeit about 100,000x less viruses than Windows users...but hey, so what lol. Even on a Windows computer, with good browsing habits and adequate security software you can get through life with no viruses to speak of. I'm too poor for a Mac and proud!!! Plus my dad has an MSDN subscription through his work, meaning we can get free (legal) copies of a lot of Microsoft programs and numerous OSes - incentive to stick with Windows really

There seems to be no definite way to stop Conficker (or Downadup as it's otherwise called [which I prefer to call it, seeing as its other name is basically swearing in German... ]) other than pulling out the plug (but then we can't play Runescape ), but you can disable Autoplay on Windows, which is one of the ways that it spreads.

Macs just suck Seriously, your paying more for... well, less. I use windows for gaming and linux for everything else, even less viruses and better in every way.
