Will they give me increased range over a wireless G?
I'm going to be leeching net off a friend until my mom can get some more work since some companies she did work for decided to cancel. And she needs to cut some things one thing being my net for a month or 2 atleast. So anyways currently my wireless g router is at my friends but with the distance about 50feet through a couple walls leaves me with a transfer rate of about 1 - 11mb.
So if I invested in both a new wireless N router and Adapter would this improve transfer rates?

Wireless N does have a greater range, but it's still going to be weakened by solid objects, such as walls. Why don't you try moving the router before getting a new one?

Note that since N isn't the standard yet, some things like the Wii or xbox360 wireless adapter are not compatible with it. Be sure all your wireless objects are compatible.
And wireless N has farther range and up to 100mb/s transfer rate.

802.11N (Wireless N) actually has a theoretical bitrate (Megabit per second) of 600. It can also reach up to distances of 300 meters, while 802.11G (Wireless G) can reach up to 100 meters (apx. 330 feet).
For those curious, 802.11N may become the new standard as early as the end of the year.

Wireless N is a lot better. Bumped up to an N router a while ago when I got my MacBook. The speeds and range is much better than G.
I use two routers in my house: N for my MacBook and one of our other laptops, and the G for older laptops, gaming systems, iPod Touchs. Just so they don't slow down my N network.
N networks will "downgrade" to G if any G-only device is put on it. So make sure he has N equipment, too, or just add in an N router.
