I was thinking of doing something like this, but instead of having an actual contest I was going to have "Story Awards," where the best novel or short story would win, but it would be an ongoing thing. This will definitely work though, and I'll be glad to enter. Are there any more criteria than what you listed?

Personally, I think these contests work better with an overlying theme, such as Finway's Quest... thing and Magic's Drabble competition. It seems a bit to broad as of now.

I'll take part anyway though.

We want to attract as many people as possible though. If there was a specific theme, ideas might not flow as well. At least that's how it works for me.

It doesn't have to be too specific though. Your quest idea still gave plenty of room for people to do their own thing. I should know, I took a large amount of creative liberty with my own work. Just some sort of theme to link them all together.

Well yeah, I see where you're coming from. But for the contest Fake said that we need to pick a topic and focus on it, so we won't have stories about "Johnny's average Runescape day" or something like that.

I had foreseen the arrival of such a contest. Right after Finway posted his worry for the lack of short stories, I instantly knew that someone, most probably Finway, would post a topic stating the competition of writing short stories. Well, you have me cornered! Short stories are something I'm not so good at, and there is no one who can stop me from participating...

I think you should put a set list of rules (there should only be four or five: no plagarism, good spelling/grammar, etc.) on this first page.

It should be. Their basic guidelines that anyone should follow. However, you might want to add no vote harvesting.

Sounds pretty short, I think I'm in. No guarantees, but I hope so!

The great part is that everyone here is getting so good, I no longer have nearly as much of a chance of winning, so I'll have to try my absolute best! Bring it on, folks!

I do that only to annoy you, dear Killerkz. Strange, you can normally find what sort of writer people are through their screen name. Sure, it has exceptions, but it's mostly accurate.

Correct, it was Killerzk, I guess that you're the sort of person who's a noob. And I made the deadline, All Submissions must be handed in before the End Of Spring Break Which is the 19th.

Um, not in that way. I'm indicating that users who capitalize their names and use correct grammar are more likely to be meticulous writers. It's a pattern. Also, users who do not add numbers to their name also seem to be more conscious about what they write and HOW they write it.

You're free to choose your own, but it must be approved by me, for example, your theme can be anything, (that I approve), such as a battle to the death with the King Black Dragon? Or it could be you witnessing a Bank Robbery and trying to help stop it, anything, use your imagination, then PM me the topic and if I accept, PM me the story .

An Idea that you think about is rarely dumb, like I said above, it can be anything.

I had the greatest book idea, but I just figured out it was what I had planned in Deep Seated: Book Three.

I've already started on my submission. Awesome idea for the theme, I must say.
