What processor and video card do i need to make crysis run on the highest settings?
Topdog
Apr 7 2009, 08:28 PM
If you want the best performance on high settings, get the best equipment that you can get. It's a pretty demanding game, so I would recommend at least getting any sort of 512MB video card as well as a good quad-core processor if you have it.

You can't just fit any processor into any board.
What is your current hardware?
farbods0
Apr 7 2009, 08:44 PM
well im currently ordering parts to build a computer and the mother board is a ASUS M3A78-CM AM2+/AM2 AMD 780V Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
redmonke
Apr 7 2009, 08:50 PM
Why are you getting that board? It only supports up to a dual core.

Oh wait, hold. I may be wrong. If it does support a Phenom II, get that.
farbods0
Apr 7 2009, 08:51 PM
oh really? I had no idea. Its a good thing you came into this thread when u did. What motherboard do u recommend then?
redmonke
Apr 7 2009, 08:54 PM
Lol, I'm still kinda new to processors, but if it does support Phenom II (which I'm assuming it does since they are both AM2+ sockets) then this thing would tear crysis apart
3.0ghz phenom 2.Alternatively there's also that 2.5ghz model that would also work.
Make sure someone like Bob double checks this.

I already have that as a processor i was wondering about the graphics card and the motherboard

If it has a pci-e slot and the case is big enough then yes.
That is also a power hungry card so he would need a decent psu 650w atleast I would recommend with 500w being min.

I'd personally go with a
Foxconn A79A-S for motherboard (but our needs differ). I've a friend with this
Biostar TPower TA790GX motherboard and he says it's a pretty good board. Other than that, at 1680x1050, I think a Radeon HD 4890 should suffice. I'd actually say look into a pair of Radeon HD 4770s (when they launch this month), but the HD4890's a fine choice as well.

The 3d glasses wouldn't work with crysis anyways as the game wasn't designed for it.
Also 3d glasses will also make the system requirements 2 - 3 times higher because the framerate will need to be extremely high and constant.

And you'll spend $400 on a 120hz LCD. Anyways--while the 3D glasses are better now than before, that's not saying much. You'll spend a lot more on getting a setup compatible and then getting it running than they're worth.

Not on highest settings and high-resolution, that I'm aware of.

I've seen plenty of 22 - 24 widescreen monitors with 1920 x 1080 support, I think its gonna become more common than 16:10 personally mostly because 1080p hype, but also because most movies and games are designed for it (consoles more so than pc)

Of the listed monitor, which happens to be an Acer X233Wbd ("N82E16824009145"), it's definitely 1680x1050. You're looking at a different monitor than was listed in the last shopping cart screenshot.

You can downgrade to the 2.8ghz then OC it to 3.0ghz.Drop the speaker system and lights.
That should shave off $70.

they are not lights they are fans. The speakers i guess i can find something cheaper. How about the case. Any cases that are cheaper than the one i already have that have good airflow and look good

I can find you a "cooler" case for cheaper but most likely it will be sitting under a desk so the cool factor really doesn't matter that much.

Apr 13 2009, 09:38 AM
They should, i haven't come across one yet that doesn't, unless it's really cheap. But the thing about transparent cases is that all it does is let you see the dust gathering. Trust me, get a normal case... you wont regret it.
