Today, we have opened up the forums for high level free players to be able to post!
All free players who have earned over 12.5 million XP (that roughly equates to someone having all F2P skills on level 72) are now able to post. Exciting times!
There could be around 250,000 new forum users to add to the current active forum users, and over the coming weeks and months, we will gradually enable more high level free players to have access.
If you’re a member currently, and already have access to post on the forums, we’d appreciate it if you could give our new forum guests a warm welcome.
If you’re new to the forums, have a read of the Forum Code of Conduct and please check the Forum Specific Rules on the forums you want to post on. There’s also a welcome thread in the Recent Updates forum – check it out.
Enjoy!

They lie - The forums were actually opened to freeplayers yesterday.

Hello all,
The ability to post is something that we're keen to give to friendly and active members of the community.
To further enhance the community we've decided to allow all free-to-play Player Moderators the ability to post on the forums.
Happy foruming!

Very nice for those who have the levels. Might produce some complaining from those who don't.

It's a decent requirement; hopefully will breathe some life into the official forums. However I do have concerns with certain sections such as clans - will clans now need to specify they are member-only? May cause a few issues. Also already there have been many suggestions for more free content.

There has been a rumor that some of those asking for free content are members who are just trying to make f2pers look bad.
I'd think 15Mil+ would be better.

Looks like a firestorm will be brewing soon when members arue they have no right to be there, however...an average of 72 levels in each skill is what Jagex calls the high mark and I cannot disagree, in freeplay it shows it is not a throwaway and they have time invested.
Good move on Jagex' part

In my opinion any Freeplayer who has over 12.5m XP has earned the rights to use the Forums, so I'd agree that this is a good move by Jagex, and hopefully will help to build the diversity of the Topics/Posts in the RSOF

Undecided. I agree that more mature f2pers
SHOULD get forums, however most f2p accounts are just throwaways. 12.5mxp is not enugh really - 15m?? I sincerely hope this doesn't mean f2p get more updates, they should pay. Yes, we were all f2p once, but most of us payed to become a member - one of the perks was forums access.

12.5M xp is almost enough for a 99. If you had a f2p account with a 99 and nothing else, would you call it a "throw-away" account?

I always hated how you had to pay money just to access forums. The only argument I've gotten was "ITS 4 AVOIDIN SPAMERZ!", and that's just mods being too lazy to take care of things and clean up messes. People who don't have the time to waste getting 12.5 million XP or have 5 bucks to throw away are getting a bad deal here, and it's because the mods are paranoid that people will make multiple accounts to spam with, and are too lazy to bother with it.. This is why I've always thought the official forums were horrible.
Despite this, at least F2P does have a chance to access the forums. Too bad it's easier to just shell out 5 bucks rather than spend months getting that much XP.

Maybe above 70 cb or all skills equal to 2k? I don't know

this is a really good idea, expecally the the part of having a cert amount of exp and not a combat lvl so skillers could get in to

. as for the ppl who can't, to bad, i mean i don't want a bunch of noobs spamming the forums and the only of the reasons it isn't happening now is cause ppl who r mems usually have played for a long while, and ppl with this amount of exp would have bean playing for a while to.
and now for the "fixed thanks" emoticon since sal's doesn't have a "ty jagex" one

Finally
12.5M xp is a high enough standard for F2p, the xp per hour are way lower for a lot of skills.

I've seen numerous spam on the forum from F2P demanding that P2P content should be F2P,
One even demanding P2P be kicked from the forums.

I don't mind the mature players, its just the immature "noobs" I'm worried about.

Oh god. Look at rants. They (P2P) are saying F2P are spamming the forums. Are they one to talk (6/6/06, 12/10/07, ect)? Plus P2P expects all content to be pay 4 usage, however as Mod MMG has said he see's F2P as the GAME itself (Which means they (F2P/P2P) get treated seperate BUT equally), and members as an expansion pack.

Hehe, I can use the forums again. I like the update although I feel it's a bit too low on the total xp needed. I think they should have made the requirements a little higher tho as 12.5m can easily be reached by getting 99 cooking or firemaking.
EDIT: Well I just spent some time on the forums and good god. F2P is getting attacked left and right by members as if someone who is f2p is a lower class of human. The open hostility is astounding, I mean members are flaming f2pers who make simple posts saying they shouldn't be allowed on the forums. I don't see what they have to be so angry about. Jagex wants feedback from those who play the f2p game and it's not like it's hurting members in any way. Members pay to get more and regular content updates in the game, the forums were just a way to trade certain things and voice their opinions. Now they're acting as if it's their right to be the only people allowed to tell Jagex what to do with their game when F2P also plays the game albeit for free and with a lot loss features.

i think thos is a win win win situation,
1. you get more PoVs (Point of Views)
2.People are going to train more (in f2p magic the perks stop at lvl 59 and the only one left is teleblock)
3. the separate economies will mix toether (f2p and p2p) and p2pers wont have to depend on p2pers alone to get f2p stuff, the forums make it easyer for mems to buy off of fellow mems and f2pers.
good move JaGex, good move.

Great update. 12.5 mill exp wil keep away most of the idiots. However, they will be members who don't like this so they'll spam the hell and make it look like there f2p, so not all the spamers will be f2p.
I have 7.5 mill exp so it'll be a while before I get 12.5 mill exp, but it's a good time to start heading towards 99 cooking.

You have no chance in f2p to do that. I know you can get 200k exp and hour by burning yew logs but's thats very expsive, but it only 4.8 mill for 24 hours work.

That's why it's called high level. You need at least like 9 months of experience really. I have been playing Runescape for two years on this account and 35Million exp.

I'm glad I can post, but I won't. When I was a member, I don't think I ever posted on the official forums

Some people will be unhappy and let their voice be heard, but it hardly matters, as it will likely die down completely within a month. However, I think Jagex probably could have made the integration a little slower, perhaps starting with 30 million experience and working down to control and ranting. I hope Jagex doesn't decide to lower the experience requirement further, I think if freeplayers should have a voice on the official forums it should be a moderate one.
I think members should remember that although there is plenty of people with immaturity, inexperience, etc. in freeplay worlds, most of them cannot post on the forums. So don't worry about it

Great job JaGex! The 12.5M exp proves quite hard, so hopefully only mature or dedicated people will be on the forums.
However, if you ask me, this is just some advertising for th P2P content. All the F2P people who havn't been a member before will be jealous on all the stuff P2P have (because loads of people talk about P2P stuff, don't they?), therefore they will want to go P2P instead of F2P, THEREFORE MORE MONEY FOR JAGEX
Hope you see my point
