Is it possible to download any old Adobe Products (Photoshop, fireworks, dreamweaver and etc) for free (Legal stuff only please)? Or would I still have to pay for older version?

My mum doesn't look to thrilled when I showed her the price tags of getting CS4 slanty.gif

Edit- Typo

Photoshop Elements 7 is only $90, and does most of what CS4 does (I have it only an old mac, it runs well on old computers).

Adobe aren't going to give away free versions of their software - because they want you to purchase the new expensive software. pfft.gif

True I 'spose, but I was thinking they might put very old and outdated ones out for free, but obviously not tongue.gif

I guess I need to start making some money then unsure.gif

To be honest I'd go with Gimp instead of Elements. Especially with some plugins, Gimp is plenty powerful, and free.

I've heard Gimp is good, but soon (next year) I'll be using the adobe products for college, and wanted to get a start with them. This would include Dreamweaver, flash and etc, and I don't 'spose there is anything else I could do flash in?

Adobe has 60 day trials of them on their website. wink.gif

Gimp can help with the basics (resizing, effects, layers, etc.) so that you can learn how to use photoshop more successfully.

If you get your hands on a copy of production premium cs3, i'll give you a key on behalf of my enterprise.

Wow Thanks biggrin.gif

There's a new program i just found out about, as long as you're not doing really professional work on it (which judging by your question in the first place i'd say you weren't) it's a decent rival to the expensive ones. Try it out, it's flash based:

Magical
You can get CS4 for an extremely low price using the teaching or student discount, around £250 I think. The older ones can be bought on amazon on the likes for a cheaper price :-)

I'm taking a look at Caboose's suggestion, it was #2 on the Gadget Show, so can't be that bad...

Absolutely not, Elements seems a pretty comprehensive and powerful piece of kit until you get CS4, then it's weak. It is barely even comparable, it's more just an entry-level photography editor than a graphics programme, though it's still an excellent product.

Edit: Thanks biggrin.gif

#2 actually, but #1 was Spotify so not an image editing program. Still pretty nifty though... i'm trying it out now too, quick registration but it's taking a while to load. Meh, iron out the bugs and it looks set to be a winner.

That SUMO thing seems reasonable, but does it have plugs?
Paint.NET is a good program, free too.
You have less tools, but you can get plugins. (any plugin you want almost)

I've been using Paint.Net for a while and it's an okay program.
I might try use the Student discount on them, see how much they go down to.smile.gif
Jamia4
Try Pixelmator.

I think it's $69...

I don't have it myself, but from what I've seen on YouTube, it looks pretty nice smile.gif

Or you could get an old copy of Photoshop of eBay?

As student you get a discount, so why not use it?
