Fraud
You're 13. You were looking through your garage when you saw the dusty maroon box. You look towards your Dad, who shares your glance and smiles. He can read your thoughts right now. Only one word escapes from his mouth: "Sure."

You bolt up to your room, flicking on a light and setting up a table. You wipe away some of the dust as you set the box on the table. As you peer over the box, gazing at the features, you take out your cell phone and call your friends, telling them to come over because you've found something awesome.

~Plot~
Your long time friend, Jay, has found one of those old 'table-top RPGs'. He wants you to play with him.
You're in Jay's room, looking at the giant game-board. It glares at you, and you glare back, knowing that you'll be in for one heck of a ride with Jay as the Dungeon-Master. Good thing you don't have school for a few more weeks!

~Notes~
I'm the dungeon-master. That clears that up.
You're going to have at least 2 characters, 1 real life, and 1 fake. Your fake character is who you'll be RPing as, but some of your posts might have dialouge from the Real character.

For the Combat, I'll need you to (AT THE TOP OF YOUR POST) Put the spell or "Attack:" followed by a number between 1-100. That's it. You can say that you watch the beast's liver slither out of his side, but I'm the one who gets to say wether or not his liver is a vital organ.

~Rules~
You should know the rules by now.

Saplings- Bark-skinned creatures that are known for ruthless killing and stealthy tactics. They are about the same size as a dwarf, but with yellow-green eyes and brown bark skin. Wether they prefer to stay alone or in a pack decides on the Sapling's feeling towards it. If they do live in a village, it will be in a forest-like area, near the top of the trees. They are the perfect beings for the Theif class, and decrease the amount of mana to use Disguise by 2.
Tormenters- Extremely evil race. They live off of the flesh, blood, and soul of other beings. They can only be in the class of Puppeteer.

~Classes~

Xtel~
Name: Cecil Harvey
Age: Appears to be in his mid-twenties
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Class: Paladin
Appearance: Cecil is rather strong, yet his pale skin and slim frame somehow conceal his muscles. He stands at just over 6'. His hair, a gleaming silver-blonde, is kept rather long, similar to the style often kept by male Elves. His eyes are a cool indigo hue. His armor consists of a breastplate, leggings, shoulder- and arm-guards, an armored headband, and light armored boots. His armor's color is a mix of indigo, similar to his eyes, and silver-white. He has a white cape across his back and a golden sword at his hip, the first of the three swords his father used as a knight.
History: Wanting to follow in his father's footsteps, Cecil decided to become a knight at a young age, as did his brother, Golbez, who was several years older than him. The two joined the ranks of knighthood at the same age of 17 and spent much of their time together sparring. After several years, Golbez, who was beginning to become weaker than his brother, who was excelling quickly, turned to darker sides of magic, hoping they would make him stronger faster. When Cecil discovered his brother had turned to a Wraith, he decided he would make it his mission to bring him back to the side of good by becoming a Paladin. For the past several years, he has been searching for his brother, begging him to return to the side of good whenever they crossed paths.
Other: I couldn't resist the Final Fantasy IV based character....

Smokey~
Name: Halt (Last name unknown)
Age: 42
Gender: Male
Race(see below): Human
Class(See below): Ranger
Appearance: Halt is a short, but well built man. When he doesnt have his dark cloak over his head you can see his short brownish hair, which looks asif it was cut with a knife. He also has blue eyes and a short beard around his chin. His skin is pale do to all the clothing he is under, His hooded cloak, that seems to blend in with the forest, a blackish chainmail he has on his chest, with odd looking sleaves, but mostly hidden because of his cloak, and pants that would seem easy and quick to move in.
History: Not much is known about this strange person, but what is widely known throught the town he lives in, is his skill with a bow.

Nacho~
Name: Hanzcardion of the Harvest Moon (people like to call him Hanz for short)
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Race(see below): Sapling
Class(See below): Thief
Appearance: Pretty tall and slender, Sapling colored skin and eyes.
History: Hanzcardion of the Harvest Moon was born a Harvest Moon so long ago that he seems to be the only one of his time who remembers his past, which was full of trials and tribulations. In fact, when he was but a pup, a rogue sapling attacked his house in order to kill his father, who just happened to be the Village Elder at that time. The rogue sapling slashed young Hanz, leaving a distinct scar across his neck. At that moment, while his father was killed, Hanz was beginning to become quite close to death; after all, he was laying there in a pool of his own blood. He passed out after three minutes or so of contant bleeding. The next morning, Hanz learned his father had been killed, his house burned down, and he was to be the next Village Elder. This was simply too much for the young Sapling, and he ran away, out of the village, away from it all. Naturally, a sapling who does not have any money in a completely unknown world does not have many choices, and Hanz found his talents as a thief helped him to get through his new life much easier than he would have, and he soon made a place for himself in a sleepy village. Sure, everyone thought he was the one stealing from the mayor, but apparently the mayor wasn't a very admired figure, because no one seemed to care, either.

~Final notes~
Every post I make (if it's not a battle post) will have a picture, unless you havent moved anywhere.

Also, Your Fake character WILL BE IC. I'm just controlling what happens for now.
Oh, and go ahead and say what you want, like what I need to add.

~Edits~
Took away DM dice rolls.
Added class bonuses.
Added Special Abilities section
And a bunch of other stuff.

~Your Lord and Dungeon Master,

Looks... different. I've seen RPs like this before, but they've failed. One of the more annoying parts of these RPs are they require you to wait for the DM to do the "dice roll" between each action, meaning if he's gone/busy/not there when everyone else is, it takes a loooong time to do things.

Suggestions/Comments:
-Maybe get rid of Dice Roll. Otherwise, trust people enough that they will use a number simulator (just tell them "only 7-14 count" or something) or some other system for their own rolls, since, as said above, it can kill these RPs.

-Add MP requirements and Abilities for each spell

-Humans are automatically at a disadvantage, as Elves have a mage bonus, Dwarves have a strength bonus, and Humans have squat. Love the Saplings though. biggrin.gif

-Hopefully the fighting system smooths out once people use it, but at the beginning, it might be a little weird, I'm guessing.

-It seems strange that an Archer, who fights from a distance and rarely would be face-to-face with an opponent, has more health than a Thief, who would likely have to be close to the opponent somewhat often to steal or attack.

-Might want to add bonuses and such for each class/race (i.e. Thieves: Subtract 2 from the opponent's hit chance; Warriors: Subtract 2 from damage recieved/ Add 2 damage to each attack)

I think that's all my ranting... for now. Hopefully this does well and everything goes great! I've already got an App in mind, but I think I'll wait a bit until everything is finalized.

Thanks, and I was worried about the dice-roll thing, too.
But I guess I could take it out.
And the reason the Archer has more HP than a theif is because as a theif, you're not supposed to get hit. Archers get hit more often, thus needing more health.
Oh, and this was thrown together pretty quick, so I didn't have time to think of a stat bonus for humans.

So, now off to edit! *Geekymusic*

Oh, and sorry, darking, but no. Declined.
Daimonius
If you take the dice out, what're you going to do with the combat system?
Fraud
Took the dice out, and added a better system. That way, the story can continue without me having to say whether or not your sword of whatever hits them.
Xtel
Might want to explain more on the combat system. I'm assuming the 1-100 either has to do with a Random Number (if you're within such-and-such of x, you do such-and-such damage) or something similar to that.

Random reccomendation: Might want to move the App closer to the bottom (just above final notes). I dunno. It just normally is like that and seems to look nice like that (plus, if you add a "Characters" section later on, it makes sense to have it with it.) Also, might want to add "Appearance" to the app. It helps make it easier to create the situation and I think it adds to it (makes it seem more personal somehow).

By the way, you might want to add your own app (if you're going to have a "fake" character, which I think would be helpful)

Bah, I like the Paladin class too much to be a Sapling. Oh well; maybe I'll have a second character later on as a Sapling, if you do second characters later.

He often wears thin glasses, as he has weaker eyesight, and wears a simple collared shirt and long pants.
History: A boy with "eccentric" parents, as seen by his name. He is one of the smarter kids in his class and has rather strong morals, though isn't afraid to break them if he thinks it will work out better in the end.

All I can imagine at the moment is when one of the "Fake" characters betrays the others, someone has a fit, and the board is flipped/thrown out the window. It'll happen....
Fraud
Xtel~ Accepted. Also, we're 14, so of course the boards gonna be flipped out the window. That's when we start taking things too hard.

Also, I'm not going to have a fake character. It'll be to time-constricting to write out an IC and the whole battle things, AND draw a picture of whatever.

And I knew I was forgetting something with the apps.

If you want another character, go ahead.

What kind of social structure do the Saplings have? Are they loners, roaming through the forests or do they live in villages or something like that?
Luna
I am very tempted to be a Sapling, but I must asked a few questions:

-As Deimos very kindly asked, what sort of social structure do Saplings have?
-WHAT DO SAPLINGS LOOK LIKE? (This question is sort of stupid, but I imagine the Saplings as trees with red eyes; sort of like the ones from Adventure Quest. Forgive me if I thought wrongly!)
-In what sort of places do Saplings live?
-Can Saplings talk? (Stupid as well, I know, but right now it seems that all Saplings do is roar, blow mud, and grunt.)

---------------------Real----------------------
"There you are." Jay said, pulling all three of you inside the house and into his room. On his table, there seems to be a game layed out with a bunch of paper and little character statues on it. Jay explains the game a little, giving you the background of it. You are on a quest to vanquish the plauge reining over your land; a plauge that completely changes the way you act. If you are infected, you might become hostile. The one who started the plauge, Restrim, has become immortal and power-hungry due to it. The only thing that would even stand a chance against him would be the Blood of the Four, an ancient artifact that no one knows about.

Jay opens the giant dungeon master book and begins your adventure.

-------------------Fake------------------------

Your eyes spring open, blurry from your sleep. The forest you had camped in was completley black, with a dark purple sky due to the plauge. With the grass crunching, you see a robed figure step over the horizon.

"Good evening," He says to you in a deep voice that makes you shiver, "I've come to ask your four a favour. I would like you to find the Blood of the Four and bring it to me, so that I may vanquish Restrim and bring peace to this land."

He holds out a note, on which is a location of some sort.

"This is where the first piece is located. there are 4 pieces hidden throughout the land. Unfortunately, I only know about this one. Will you help?"

His one red eye seems as if it peers through you. Should you accept this strange man's task?

STRANGE MAN has offerred you the quest: The Relic Seeker. Do you accept?

OOC: Basically, he'll let you guys talk over it. You're all together and know each other, to make it easier on us. Also, I'm going to have a Karma system in this. If you don't accept this quest, you'll start a different quest. If you accept this one, you'll start it.

Discuss.
Nachomamma8
Rick rubbed his hands together in anticipation. "Of course we accept; what kind of question is that? I so want to get this started. He looked around the table, expecting to see tons of faces excited as his, but none seemed to be that way. "Guys... really? You're actually thinking of declining the FIRST QUEST? You're all... stupid and dumb if you decline this."
Xtel
Sal pushed up his glasses an inch as he looked at Rick. "I'm not sure about this guy... He seems like he wouldn't be very trusting, just from the way he looks. Not to mention that if someone was attempting to kill an immortal, they'd likely not go around, asking random people. I think he's likely planning to use the artifact to help this Restrim guy or to simply keep it hidden so others cannot use it to defeat him." After a moment, Sal realized how deeply he had been thinking into the game and felt a fool. As he thought about it more, he realized something. "Of course, even if we retrieve the artifact, who says we need to give it to him? If he's planning to defeat Restrim with it, he shouldn't care if we hold onto it, since we have the same objective. That way, we can be sure he doesn't get it, if he plans to use it for evil." Unless, of course, he's strong enough to take it from us... But if he's strong enough to take it from us, why doesn't he just go and retrieve it... But if he's a Puppeteer.... Then he could use us to take it and force us to give it to him.... And who's to say that we can even retrieve the first artifact, or that it really is a piece of the Blood of the Four? Bah, I need to stop delving so far into things.

OOC: It might be hard for me to get a picture of Cecil, since all of them are either very detailed or 3D (if I did one myself, it would be hand-drawn and thus it would be difficult to recreate on a computer, I'm guessing.) If worst comes to worst, I'd say the pictures shouldn't become necessary.
Lord Condom
"I kinda have to agree with Sal on this" Ben said, "One doesnt just randomly walk up to you asking for some random object.. And besides," Ben said as he scracted his left cheek "Whats the reward anyways?"

OCC: Are we only to be talking as our real characters? I just think our ingame characters should also have conversation.
Fraud
Both are fine. You should be talking in your real and/or fake characters. Oh, and Xtel, the character picture isn't required.
Lord Condom
Then in that case...

Fake: Halt rised from where he was laying, closely observing the odd man. He scratched his beard and asked "One does not randomly come up and ask strangers to go on a dangerous quest.." Halt said as he walked around the man, watching him carefuly. He stopped, and questioned "Who are you anyways?"

OCC: This is going to get interesting happy.gif
Nachomamma8
OoC: [wub.gif] Cecil [/:wub:]

Rick snorted. "Sal... Ben... Come on... It's a board game. You guys remember the karma thing, right? Don't accept this quest, and then we leave it up to Jay to choose the next one? I mean," Rick glanced at Jay for a second. "You'd trust HIM over some random old man? He'd probably make us kill some immortal or something... I mean, you guys remember, when we were younger, the bungee jumping idea? It seemed perfectly sensible at first, but next thing we knew, we were hanging in a tree by our pant loops. At least old men are harmless..."
Xtel
"Age does not stop a person from being a threat. Give an old man or woman a gun and they can do just as much damage as a child can, perhaps more because of experience and age. I still think it would be wiser to not trust him."

----------

Cecil slid to a standing position, keeping his father's blade at the ready. Halt is correct in being untrustworthy of this man. Who's to say that he isn't simply using us? Actions like the ones he has taken -immediately trusting a group of strangers with such claims about his plans- easily mark this man as a fool or a lier. I do not trust him either.
Nachomamma8
Rick seemed to be pleading now. "Please. You don't have to trust the guy in order to accept a quest from him... We can just find this artifact, learn of its power, and then decide what to do from there. Plus, guys? This is a board game. You had better get used to receiving quests from mysterious old men, or this will be a pretty boring break..."

Hanz was napping against the tree, watching the two debate about it internally. Quite frankly, he didn't care. He was sure he would find some interesting items along the way, no matter what path they took.

Gender: Male
Appearance: Dark brown hair, brown eyes, wears very average clothes. Nothing very outstanding about him, and he is very average looking.
History: He is a practical joker and a known cheater at games. Of course, nothing big, but often a little thing here and a little thing there to tip the game in his favor. He is a little aggressive at times and is one for a game plan before charging in.

Fake:
Name: Val Knight
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Race(see below): Elf
Class(See below): Archer
Appearance: Wears very bland colors and is reserved. His bow is slung across his back and his quiver attached to his shoulder with a fold over top in order to stop the arrows from falling out when he bends over and such. He has black hair and brown eyes and has a medium tan. His hair is straight and sits just below his ears, hiding them from an initial glance.
History: (History? We haven't done anything yet!? Oh well.)
Grew up in the trees and is a natural acrobat. He is an expert tracker and marksman and often does a lot of quick talking to get himself out of tight situations. His parents were separated from him as a 5 year old and he does not know what has befallen them, or even if they are still alive. He lived with his uncle in his house in the trees, in a large forest of a colony of elves. After many years and at the age of 17, he left to explore the world in order to gain much knowledge as he had learned all there was to learn from his home.

Lord Condom
I just have a question, how does the combat thing works? I dont understand it that much.
Fraud
You're supposed to be shrouded in mystery about the combat. Trust me, it works.

And Outer Space- Accepted.
Lord Condom
Halt was growing tired of waiting for the strange mans reply, he walked towards the tree were Hanz was laying at and made a motion to Cecil to come were he was. "What are your opinions on this?" Halt questioned, "Do you two trust that man?"
Nachomamma8
IC:

Hanz opened one eye. "Truthfully, no. Not even a little. But I trust less the gods, who have the power to destroy anything they wish, than a mysterious old man. IT seems... suspicious that he wishes for us to accept a random quest, but I feel it would not hurt checking out what said artifact is, and see if it is worth snatching." Hanz flexed his fingers.
Lord Condom
Halt raised an eyebrow. "Your willing to accept some random quest just to get your hands on some artifact? Are you not aware on how dangerous this could be? What if its a trap?"
Nachomamma8
Hanz smiled. "But what if it's not? What if it is some hidden elixir, or a weapon with untold power?" Hanz licked his lips. "Imagine the possibilities, friend. We could be rolling in cash if the old man pays up... How could you refuse? As far as the danger goes... What makes you think our next quest will be any less dangerous? At least we have a tiny idea on what we're getting into here..."
Fraud
The strange man continues to watch your party. He is unmoving, unbreathing. His lone red eye stares blankly at the adventurers, as he awaits their response.

Jay walks away from the table for a moment, coming back with a 24-pack of Mountain Dew. He rips open the box and gives each of his friends one, hearing his dad greet someone. Surely enough, Reece came in, late as usual.

"Hey man, take a seat." He told him, tossing another Mountain Dew towards him.
-----------------------
Ruffling through the trees, another being steps forward and toward the group. Soon enough, Val stepped out of the shadows, tossing a large boar on the ground. He had been away hunting.
Lord Condom
Halt sighed, "Always taking risks.." He muttered to himself, Halt turned his head to Cecil "Well, whats your opinion on this?"

Just when Halt finished his question, he saw the large boar smack on the ground. He reached for an arrow in his quiver, but then relized this strange character meant no harm. "Ah! Its you Val!" Halt grinned.

Real: Ben takes his MD, thanking his friend. He opens and drinks it, with a refreshing 'Ahhhhhh' as he gulps it down.
Nachomamma8
Hanz snorted. "Taking risks? Who knows what will happen if we refuse the quest. The name the old man muttered... it sounded like a gods'. If he's strong enough to kill a god, who can say he won't kill us when we decline, as a guarentee to make sure we don't talk?"

A sudden sound in the bushes startled Hanz, who was starting to get really passioned in his argument. When he saw Val with a huge boar, he grinned. "You're back! And with dinner, as well! Halt here will explain everything that's happened; I've been craving some good ol' boar meat for the past three weeks... I think I've waited long enough."
Lord Condom
Halt turned to Val, "Well, this strange... 'Man' has offered us a quest to get some odd object to vanquish Restrim and bring peace to this land.. " Halt stopped talking for a moment, thinking about the rediculous quest the man has made, offering no reward that would suit him.

"I myself, dont think its a great idea going off and doing it.. Who knows what dangers this quest could have? Surely such an artifact wouldnt be easy to find.. But Hanz here" Halt said as he waved his hand in the direction of Hanz "Thinks this would be a good oppurtunity for riches, but im still not sure." Halt turned to Cecil and asked "What do you think?"
Xtel
Cecil was standing against a tree near Hanz and Halt, leaning on it gently. "Hmm... Hanz has a point. If we decline the quest, he may very well kill us, just to make sure the information is kept from the ears of others," he muttered, making it sound as if he was talking to himself, yet speaking loud enough for the others to hear him while keeping it quiet enough for the glowing-eyed man to not. "It may be wise to take the quest. If he needs others to take on the quest for him, it could likely mean he is not strong enough to kill us himself. If so, we would have a somewhat good chance at escaping with the artifact, if his intents truly are malicious." He placed a hand on his chin as he though and continued quietly. "And if he is planning to send us on this quest, believing we are not strong enough to succeed and hoping for our deaths, then it is unlikely that he could kill us, as doing so would mean our certain demise." Unless, of course, he plans for us to die in the quest and continue it himself, so that he might have an easier time completing it. While that would make sense from his actions, it seems... highly unlikely. His gaze rose from the ground at his feet to the side of his sights, where the man stood unmoving. If he is not strong enough to kill us, then it is unlikely that he would give away his plans so suddenly to a group of strangers. But if he is strong enough to take us, then it would make little sense to make us take the quest, as it would have a higher chance of losing the artifact... Unless he plans to use us as pawns, doing the work for him... Yes, that seems to be the only thing that would make sense... Even so, it is unlikely we will survive if we decline the offer. It would seem to be in our best interests that we take the quest and, if we find the chance, escape, either with the artifact or long before finding it. He let out a sigh and turned towards Halt and Hanz, speaking at an average level once more. "I think it would be in our best interest to take the offer." Even if we take it, there's nothing stopping us from escaping before we are in too deep.

OOC: For some reason, that post makes me feel smart, which makes me feel stupid for feeling smart over such a small thing.... Umm...
Lord Condom
IC: I get what you mean, its like an endless loophole =/

OC: Halt nodded in agreement from what his friend has said. "Cecil is right, we can always escape halfway through if we run into major trouble. But we still need Vals word on the subject." Halt said as he turned his head in Vals direction "Well, what do you think?"
Nachomamma8
IC:
Hanz glared at Val. "Val, stop eating for Greich's sake. You know what? Go ahead and eat, but we're making the decision without you." Hanz shook his head in disgust. "Well gentleman, it seems the vote is 2-1, in favor of accepting. Have we reached a decision, then?"
Lord Condom
Halt nodded his head in approval. "Now go be a lad and tell the strange man that we accept his strange quest."
Nachomamma8
Rick looked at Jay, a satisfied look on his face. "We accept."
Lord Condom
IC: Ben smiled and laughed glad that this little debate of what they should do was finally over. He then rushed to the bathroom, as he had to pee 3 cans worth of mountain dew happy.gif

OOC: Yay.
Fraud
OOC: Hey guys, sorry for not posting. I was camping all weekend.
IC:

"Excellent..." The man says, his red eye glowing brighter than it was before, "Now, then, you'll nee-" He is cut off by the sounds of thumping heard in the distance. He pauses, just looking at you all. Minutes go by, and your party is getting tired of waiting, before the man's knee's buckle. He falls to the ground, revealing several arrows from his back. He had died in those minutes you were waiting, but had just now fallen. You can see something in his hand, but worry about what's coming closer as you think.

--------------BATTLE--------------

YOU ARE NOW FIGHTING:
2 LV. 1 BANDITS
1 LV. 2 MAMMOTH

You strike first!
Nachomamma8
Attack: 42

Hanz reacted quickly, flying towards the bandit directly across for him. The bandit brought up his spear to defend himself, but soon found himself unarmed as Hanz held the Bandit's spear with a triumphant look on his face. "Nice try," Hanz said as he made several slashes towards the bandit, scoring a few hits. Due to Hanz's inexperience with the weapon, the bandit eventually managed to wrestle back his spear, but not without a few cuts on his side.
