Prolouge:

There the fire burns, after hours of work. Sweat, tears, but no blood had been shed by this man, laying upon the hilltop. The burning fury, and passion within this man's eyes resembled that of the fire. The man, was clearly at war.

He continued to lay upon the hilltop, watching as a normal day passed. Butterflies playfully fluttered around the air, enjoying the breeze, cows hungrily grazing upon the grass, just as they always do, and still, this man lays.

He finally rose, and stared upon the pasture before him. An inquisitive look doned his face, as he continued to have that fire in his eyes. Unlike the fire he had lit, this one has not gone out.

This man, was evil. He stood firmly, looking upon the sky, widely opened before him. He held out a god-like staff in his hands, and said an incantation.

"Imcamendo trialso, don reducte, Guthix camelto."

And so the war begins...

Chapter 1 - A Creature That Lurks...

Sitting down by the bottom of an oak tree, I began to cut vigorously at a log to attempt to make a bow. I have been working for my master, an artisan in the art of Fletching for two months now. Soon, it'd be time to cut down this tree I sit upon.

I continued to slash at it, and after a while, I began to get extremely bored. As I made some of the final slashes, I heard a noise. It seemed to be coming from the direction of the woods. Out of curiosity, I got up and walked toward the woods. The noise seemed to be coming from there. It kept getting louder and louder as I neared.

I roamed the woods, cautiously. I slipped around every vine, and every obstacle that was on the ground ahead of me. There, before me, it was. The thing that had been making all that noise...

I walked up to it. It had the appearance of a dog. Nervously, I came closer, step by step, and watched it lay there, shrieking terribly. I took a closer glance, and it appeared that a spear pierced its skin. I examined it more, as I kept walking closer.

It's ears perked up and it glanced at me, with a look of hope. I've never seen anything like this animal before, but it seemed to facinate me. I stroked it as I examined thoroughly the wound in which was above his stomach, very close to the heart.

I grabbed my last piece of food that my mother made for lunch, hoping I would munch on it on the way here, but, of course, I didn't. The dog-like thing stood up, and wagged it's tail as I threw the piece of bread for it to eat.

After it had eaten, it howled vigorously. I stared at it, frightened. It just kept howling, continuosly. Now, more scared then ever, I stood up, preparing to move back.

The animal now began to speak, and it uttered very faint words while it was howling,

"You're mine... mortal!" It hissed.

It seemed to take the shape of a human then, and I turned back and began to run, as it ran after me. I kept running on every single bit of energy I had left, just so I'd make it home, to see my family again. It continued to follow me and call out to me.

"What do you want from me?" I yelled, in a very scared tone.

I kept running, and it just kept coming after me. I refused to give up, not when my life is on the line at this point in time. I'd finally reached an area where I lost it for a bit, and I hid behind a tree. Everything was peaceful for a few minutes. I could see the walls of Varrock appearing out before me.

I began to walk toward it, until I heard that foul sound again. I turned around, and it was the scary being that followed me, and it casted spells in my direction!

I now was running even harder than before, I couldn't even think about stopping to pant and catch my breath. I reached the wall safely, and the guards, stunned, looked at the being approaching. They sent out the rangers to defend the city.

The being retreated and simply uttered,

"I'll be back for you," hissing again, "I will make sure you won't survive next time!"

I looked back, stunned. I fell to the ground, very dizzy from all of the running, and attempted to crawl home, where I passed out alongside the road from lack of air.

My name, is Cyrus, and this is my story...

I woke up in the hospital a few hours later, with my mother, father, and dog, all by my side.

"Are you alright, son?" My mother asked worriedly, "The guards said you were running from something that seemed to even scare all of them."

"I'm not sure if I'm alright, mother," I replied. "It was a dog-like creature, and it turned into what seemed to be a man... I'm just don't know what happened there."

"I know, I know. You're just going to have to be strong until King Roald figures out what he'd like to do about this," she said.

"King Roald kno-", I said.

"Yes son, he knows," My father interupted, "The important thing right now is that you're okay."

"I'm fine father, I just don't know what happened after I tried crawling home. I mean, it's such a blur," I said.

"Apparently, the doctor said you were out of air, when I found you passed out on the road. Your lungs tired, and your body couldn't take too much of it. It needed rest. You'll be in here for a few more days until the doctor says it's okay for you to leave," He told me.

I just nodded my head in agreement. I didn't know what else to do. This was too much for me to take in. I didn't understand how that dog-like animal turned into a being that is out to kill me. It was all very confusing.

Not being able to take all this in, I went to sleep.

Chapter 2 - A Visitor In The Night

Several hours later, I woke. Midnight was just about to hover over Varrock, and I lay awake in bed, with the moonlight as my companion. I was haunted by the fact that that creature could be anywhere. Even the wind rattling on the windows scared me. I've been known to be fearless, I'm just not sure what has come over me.

Outside the hospital, I heard bustling from the city outside. Varrock just never seemed to be asleep. The tapping steps of pacing hospital workers outside my room became music to my ears. Simply, I couldn't go back to sleep.

Something then caught my attention, as I heard whispering outside the door. All I could hear was "Yes, sir," and "He's asleep."

Moments later, royal guards barged the door and entered my room. Usually when royal guards barge doors to get into rooms, it means trouble, which I've made a habit of getting into lately. A hooded figure stood firmly in between them. It reminded me of the being that transformed, er, materialized, or whatever from that animal earlier.

The hood was then removed, and I saw the crown of Varrock lay upon this man's head. Behold! Before my eyes stood the king of Asgarnia!

"Where is he?" Said the King.

The guards made an immediate search around the room, and looked in about 3 other hospital beds before they found mine. They hovered over me, almost as if they were vultures on desert prey. One guard whispered to the other.

"Your highness," said one guard, "I believe this is the boy."

The King began taking steps in my direction. My mind was confused, all this is too much for me to take in, especially considering what happened earlier.

"I've come to you to address the ugly incident in which took place in the forest south of here. Beyond our walls," he boldly stated, "the matter is being tended to, as it is top on my priority list."

"Yes, your highness, please speak." I said, not sure how the words came to mind, I just spoke them.

"First thing, are you alright?" He asked.

"I'm not sure how I'm feeling sir, hurt a little, erm, a bit confused I suppose," I kept on rambling on and on. The King, however, listened to every word I was saying to my surprise.

"Seeing you after this incident is one of the things I made sure of." He said.

I understood now why he was here. It all seemed a mystery to me why he came so late in the night.

"I came this late in the night so I could arrive safely, with no Varrock crowds distracting me." He said, apparently reading my mind.

"I understand your highness." I told him. Just as another word was about to come out of my mouth, an explosion sounded, which seemed to be coming from Varrock square. It continually sounded off. It sounded as if there were a riot going on outside.

King Roald looked worried, as he opened the blinds to see outside. A fire was raging down the city streets! I did nothing except stare at the fire, which continued to get bigger. King Roald was in silence for many minutes. I could do nothing, but stare.

What was I to do? I felt in my mind that this was all my fault, that none of this would of happened had I not been there. Finally, King Roald spoke, "We must go," he paused "now!"

I followed his instructions, as I rose from the bed. We quickly marched outside the hospital and towards the palace grounds. Guards surrounding us, a city in flames and many shrieking in horror, we marched.

I looked around for some standard meaning of this, but nothing. Nothing would help explain the fact that my city is in flames. We finally reached the palace gates, as King Roald continually instructed guards. We stepped onto the grounds.

We walked in and I saw the queen, as she hugged King Roald. Just then, I remembered... My family!

I will be adding more soon. Expect the next chapter to come soon. Tell me what you think so far of the story. Give me ideas on what I could do to make it better please. I have most of the plot in my head and written out.
