How do i get those cool fonts that other people have on their log? Do i have to download or what?

If you mean their banner, then yes. They're either custom fonts from a site (Like http://www.dafont.com) or something that came with their computer. I suggest you ask the person through a pm, download it and use a photoediting software to make whatever you need.

I just downloaded a font now how do i get it to be able to type on my log?

Well actually a lot of people have text effects in their log; if you want just plain text, then on a transparent canvas, type the text. After you save it, upload it and post it in your log.
