Just a couple of things that spring to mind for me. Really it's up to you how original you can be.

I might be apping to this. Still have to decide on what kind of a character though. Seems interesting though compared to the previous ones, interesting concept.

Appearance: Hikari Ikiru is human in shape, however no one would ever make the mistake of assuming he was human. He has pale white skin that glows slightly in the light, very faint lips, dazzling blue eyes, and shoulder-length blonde hair. His whole body is very boney, and his hands and feet are made out of actual metacarpal and metatarsal bones (ie. they're skeletonized).

Appearance: Simply put, Jack is one of those guys you get a bad feeling about. He's usually hunched over in his lazy walk, still looking somewhat tall. He has two glaring, dark blue eyes, black and gray hair, and an insignificant beard. Merely whatever he missed when shaving. He's also got a drinking habit, so he's not going to smell the best either. All in all Jack is a somewhat pudgy build, feeling too worn out from his job to get much exercise.
Clothes: Jack wears whatever he wants. It doesn't matter, as he usually just always wears a long brownish rain coat, a tan fedora hat and long black/blue pants.
Likes: Humor, sex, winning, and salt.

Clothes: He normally wears a metal band shirt and jeans. He always has a black bandanna in his back pocket and three chains on his right hip. He has long black hair that reaches to his shoulders and tan skin.
Likes: Metal, women, killing random people with his death note and playing mind games with people

On to a more serious note, Ketsueki, will you be my human? If we're both accepted first, that is.

Ooc: Everyone who made a character application so far is accepted. I just thought that us role-players would get a bit bored without our favorite genius pyscho serial killer student and our genius hunch-backed, insomniac, sugar-addicted detective, as well our apple-addicted Shinigami.

And I suppose resurrecting a few guys who were reported dead on television won't hurt, either. So if we have a Life Note Holder, we have a plot: keep Light Yagami from finding a Death Note, and, once he does, chase after him and get it back somehow before he kills us.

Silavor, Life Notes cannot work on Death Gods or Life Gods, just as Death Notes cannot work on Death Gods or Life Gods. And why does Hikari Ikiru hate Life Gods?

IC: Alec sat on a tree branch, his gray eyes surveying the mass of people passing by. He supposed that even if they had touched his Life Note, they wouldn't be alarmed, if not for the wings.

"Oi," he called to a dark-winged figure nearby. "Ryuuku."

The Shinigami came managed to amble over despite the fact that his feet were crossed behind his neck.

Alec smirked at the scene. "What are you trying to act like, some sort of demented pretzel?"

"You're not the one dealing with apple withdrawals!" Ryuuku snapped.

Alec narrowed his eyes. "Last time we were in the Shinigami world, all you did is rant about your disturbing apple-lust. The other Life Gods are starting to look at me strangely, too, after they saw you. What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing's wrong with me! We can't all go around being popular and cute, Mr. I'm-So-Perfect!"

"I'm not popular with the Life Gods now thanks to you, apple-lover," Alec snapped and folded his arms, looking almost comically childish, considering that he was well over a thousand years old.

Despite all the arguing, the Shinigami and Life God were good friends; Alec had somehow come to terms with Ryuuku's love for apples, and Ryuuku had taken the time to consider Alec's marionettes. It took time and effort to understand the meaning behind those wooden puppets, especially when Alec only had the Cinderella set, a gift from a former Life Note holder.

But after all, the two were almost completely different. There was bound to be a few rough corners, right?

OoC: Why does he hate Life Gods? Well, it'll probably end up getting explained during the Rp, but basically it's because they defy the natural order of nature, which Hikari upholds above all else. While it may seem hypocritical, Hikari sees using the death notes as a hastening of nature's intentions. However, using a life note is creating backflow, allowing the dirty dishwater to mix with the drinking water, so to speak.

IC: Jack leaned back in his squeaky chair, his arms spread behind his head. He was enjoying his single moment of relaxation he had. He took out his favorite brand of cigars, and a somewhat expensive brandy. He also had his favorite Jazz band playing on his old school record player. Taking a mouth-full of cigar smoke, Jack turned around in his chair, and let the smoke out. He gazed the city throughout his window. A cold and depressing site. Jack always hated the city. He also hated the country as well. Who knows what he liked, perhaps he'd find serenity on an island.

His thoughts were ended upon hearing his telephone ring. Oh how he hated that ring. He exhaled his smoke and watched it disperse in the air. He watched as his final moments of peace were leaving. He unfolded his legs, cut the record player, and doused his cigar. He reached for the telephone and sighed, faking a somewhat intrigued "Hello?".

IC: "By the way, did you drop you spare Life Note yet?" Ryuuku asked curiously. He was now doing somersaults.

"There it is," Alec answered matter-of-factly, gesturing to a white notebook on the gorund. He leapt off of his tree branch and landed on the ground, keeping his feet set firmly on the pebbled path. "No one's noticed it yet, though. But it's a matter of time. What happened to your Death Note?"

"Gave it to that white-haired guy who calls himself Near. I thought that I might have some fun, but he just keeps it locked away and doesn't do anything with it. He doesn't even give me apples!" The apple-crazed Shinigami bounced on his...er...hands.

The Life God smirked slightly again and turned back to the Life Note. "It's just a matter of time before someone comes..."

Alec mumbles in the background.

"She made me drop it. I couldn't help it. Don't pick it up, all I need is another human screaming and pointing at me..."

Shokei casually walked around his school campus, his music blaring loudly in his ears. He looked to his side to see a group of school girls with an odd expression on their faces, like part of them didn't know what to think of him and the other was just creeped out. He was used to this though, he just wasn't the attractive type. He waved at the group of three while sticking his tongue at them and quickly turned his head. He could hear their faint laughter as he walked into one of the many buildings of his high school.

"Good GOD, this place is so lame. Am I seriously the only one who can bring some entertainment to this little colony of idiots?" Shokei thought to himself. He was a talented student, who did well in most of his junior classes, and had built up the rep of school freak over his years here. His two friends, Eiko and Shupo were supposed to be waiting for him here, but were, as usual, nowhere to be seen.

"Bah screw this. Guess I'll just stroll around the courtyard for a few minutes until class starts" he thought as he left the building and headed for the courtyard.

Jack rushed over to Shokei and ripped his headphones off of his head. "You young whippersnapper....!!!!"
He then punched Shokei in the face and ran.

Victor sat in a bathtub in a very dark alley way licking his bloody knife.
Who shall I kill next? Victor thought licking his knife. Hmmm......
Victor kept thinking in his tub of blood.

This could get started if someone picked up Alec's Life Note.

Well, here goes nothing, Hikari thought to himself, as he stood over the swirling mass of blackness that was the portal to the human world. He quickly looked behind him, but none of the remaining Shinigami seemed to notice what Hikari was planning on doing. Carefully, very carefully, Hikari picked up the spare notebook he had 'borrowed', and dropped it into the swirling darkness. Gingerly holding his breath, Hikari then let himself fall through the portal, too.

The notebook landed in what appeared to be some sort of courtyard, only to Hikari's suprise there were no knights, or servants, or bailors in this courtyard. There were only... children, the oldest of which was 18 at best.
So, this must be a school, then. Have humans really ruined all their magnificent buildings by letting their piggish offspring run rampant throughout? Hikari landed in a tree, keeping an eye on the notebook which had landed a few feet away on the ground.

Shokei, still casually walking around the school courtyard, let out a hard sigh. He began to wonder if this little high school would begin to have any interesting occasions at all. Before him though was the answer to all his problems, well, the ones he could imagine at least. The black notebook caught his eye. He walked towards it and stared at the cover from where he stood.

"Death Note? What the hell is this thing?" He reached down and picked the notebook up, perplexed as to who would keep a note book with such a morbid style to it, other than him of course, "Haha, look at this, like some pathetic attempt at a dark bible. Death Gods? Wow, whoever lost this piece must've led a sad life."

Shokei looked around to see if anyone had realized he took their notebook. Not one of the students in the courtyard looked in its direction. Shokei simply shrugged and stashed it in his book bag. He then heard the bell ring and began to run to his classroom, completely ignorant to the fate that had decided to take his hand.

A day earlier

Hikari was sitting on a rock, alone, in the desolate wasteland that was the Shinigami homeworld. There were so few of them left, it wasn't hard to be alone. You just had to walk a little ways away from the portal to the human world, and poof no more Shinigami.

Hikari was trying to think what he should write on the first page of the Death Note. He had already decided that English would be the best language to write it in, seeing how it seemed to be such a popular language down on Earth. But the instructions needed to be written like poetry; not too long, or else it will be too cumbersome to read, and not too short, or else the reader won't know what it means. Eventually, Hikari figured out what to write. He wiggled his left arm a bit, and a bizarre pen fell into his skeletal hand. It appeared to be made entirely out of muscles, fat, and veins, over a hollow bone core that used some sort of blood as ink. The back of the pen was attached to a large tendon, which extended up into the darkness beneath Hikari's cloak.

How to use the Death Note

1. The human whose name is written in this notebook shall die.
2. Along with the name, the writer must also hold the face of the victim in their head, to prevent people with the same name from dying.
3. If no cause of death is specified, the victim's heart will stop in 40 seconds.
4. If a cause of death is written within the first 40 seconds, the writer then has 6 minutes and 40 seconds to add details regarding the death.

Now, as the boy rushed back in to the school, Hikari gently floated down from the tree. He landed softly, and then proceeded to follow the boy who had his Death Note. As Hikari entered the school, he quickly raised his hood, not being a perticular fan of modern lighting. Finding the classroom where the boy had entered, Hikari silently slipped in to the back of the room, and waited.

OoC: A shinigami is the rightful owner of the death note. He/She lives in the shinigami realm, but often a
few of them purposely or accidently drops their death note to earth to see who will pick it up and what they would
do with it. Basically, they just want to see some humans suffer.

Ic: Akira was watching television until he heard a loud smack on the window.
What the hell was that?. He went outside, but he saw that it was raining.
"Rain. Ugh." said Akira. He went ouside anyway. He went towards the window and
saw a black notebook. "Is this someone's idea of joke?" thought Akira aloud. He went
back inside and opened it up. "Nothing, but blank pages of paper." He looked at the title of the
notebook. Death Note. Akira looked at the back cover now. "Rules." said Akira while laughing.
Lightning and thunder roared outside. "Better get to sleep before i can't even sleep at all."

OoC: Not a whole lot, we've basically had a bunch of intro posts, and met some of the shinigami/life gods.

OoC: Most shinigami don't appear right away, otherwise people who pick up the Death Notes might get overloaded with everything going on at once.

I'm not sure how many Death Notes and Light Notes are out currently, but I've got an app for a Death Note user and, if you need another Shinigami, I can use Koshi again.

Appearance: Somewhat long, messy black hair covers Kuro's forehead and most of his eyes, which are a purple-blue color. His skin, somewhat pale, covers his thin, nearly muscle-less frame. He stands at about 5'6", rather short for his age.
Clothes: Kuro normally wears a black button-up shirt, the sleeves reaching his wrists, and a pair of black jeans. He also wears a jacket that looks similar to a doctor's coat.
