Full Version: Missing My Mummy
Sal's RuneScape Forum > Everything RuneScape > RuneScape Updates & News
Doomsicle

There are many secrets hidden in the depths of the desert. Forgotten tombs of forgotten rulers from a forgotten time, when the world was a very different place...or at least they were forgotten. The spread of human civilisation, however, means that many of the hidden corners of the world are being uncovered, often by treasure-hunters with little regard for preserving the sanctity of these ancient places.

Recently, one such tomb, near Uzer, was discovered by treasure-hunters. Leela of Al Kharid does care about the sanctity of this particular place, and she wants your help to recover information that is of great importance to her.

Warning – Mild Spoilers

Please note that we haven’t forgotten about your request to not start too many new quest series until we have continued with, and finished, a few of the existing ones. While it might not seem like it initially, this quest is actually part of the same quest series as Tale of the Muspah; this one just approaches things from a very different direction, so it’s probably not entirely clear how things fit together yet.

We’ve been calling this quest series Mysteries of the Mahjarrat here in the Jagex office. It is going to be tying together a few lose ends from various quests, and hopefully bringing more cohesion to parts of the Runescape mythology and storyline. While we’re starting the quest series with low-level requirements, later quests will have progressively higher requirements as we draw in the different existing storylines. Additionally, Missing My Mummy also ties into some of the ongoing desert storylines.

Paul
Summary:

Requirements to start Missing my Mummy:
35 Cooking
35 Construction
35 Crafting
35 Magic
35 Prayer
Must have completed Prince Ali Rescue
Must have completed The Golem
Must have completed Icthlarin’s Little Helper

Requirements for total completion:
25 Thieving
45 Crafting
45 Prayer
50 Magic
Must have completed Garden of Tranquillity

In other news...

We have improved Low and High Alchemy so that if you don't time your clicks correctly, it'll still return you to the spellbook after your inventory. Hopefully you'll find this useful when you’re going about your daily alching! You can also queue up one to cast while the current spell is being performed.

We have added an activity bar to the Soul Wars minigame. If you've been taking part in the game the bar should remain green, but if you don't take part the bar will slowly turn orange, and eventually run out, at which point you'll be removed from the game.

You'll find that after killing someone in a Bounty or PvP world you'll have a bit of time to pick up drops before potentially being whisked away for a random event.

The Who?
Wow this looks great, I also like the update on the alching. You don't know how many times that has caused me to go back to pking if I'm alching...

I hope the rewards are good for this quest, although it looks like they'll just be exp considering the requirements, (lots of skills=lots of exp).

Edit: I like the soul wars update, too bad they can't make that anti random even thing also apply to pjers in BW though slanty.gif Its hard with 1 def.

Edit 2: First first reply? Or second second post, I'm not sure tongue.gif

Finally a new quest. It looks like it could be interesting and their comments about it being related to the Muspah adds a bit of interest for me.

For the Soul Wars.... Hurray! It was highly frustrating trying to get in and not getting in when I knew there were players there doing nothing. On several games I counted over 20 people standing and doing nothing, but, they would still get the reward. They were on the losing side so they thought 'just stand around and get XP'. Hopefully Jagex will learn and any new mini-games in the future will force people to participate or they get the boot without any rewards!

The Soul Wars update was greatly needed, and will be gladyly appreciated (by the honest and nais players smile.gif )

Update of the month won.

God was Soul Wars just so cheap. The only thing that could top this is taking out the super quick SC items.

You give 5 dollars a month - that does not make you the owner of Jagex. Unless there's something I've missed, the content that was there before the update is still there.

Spoiled whiners.

Alching update is gudhak. Very, very gudhak.

I was removed it partly when Lumbridge was updated. The tutorial was in Lumbridge for like a month, then they switched it back to Tutorial Island for reason I do not know. Also, the Tutorial Island was never removed, because if you had some accounts that had not finished it, you would be there.

There were a few technical issues with the new one, so they moved it back to Tutorial Island for the meantime.
As for the new quest it looks pretty sweet and I have all reqs (apart from The Golem)! Once I finish all this high-alching I'll get to it...
And this helps:

* Stopped the Ranged Stealing Creation headgear rendering through your head.
* Fixed a render issue with the female plate helmet from Stealing Creation.
* Stopped players from getting stuck in the walls of their house.
* Fixed an issue where an animation on a player and location weren't synchronised.
* Fixed an issue with the decor around Runecrafting altars.
* Several more wall torches have had their flames trimmed to no longer render through the roof.
* Lighting fires will no longer put you in the ticket vendor for Balthazar Beauregard’s Big Top Bonanza.
* Players shouldn’t be transparent, so light no longer travels through them when in the smelting part of the tutorial.
* Fixed a few trees that wouldn't let the player walk past.
* Improved the player chathead when wearing the sheep mask.
* Fixed a chathead issue with the magic hats obtained from Treasure Trails.
* A rug in the Wizards’ Tower no longer renders through your feet.
* A previously unobtainable bucket can now be picked up as we've moved the chair that was blocking it.
* Fixed render issues with the straw boater hat in high detail.
* During part of the Shadow of the Storm quest, some chatheads were missing. It must have been the work of Agrith-Naar.
* Added remove-roof functionality to a hut in Shilo Village that wasn't disappearing when you entered it.
* Polar camouflage gear no longer clips when fishing or burying bones.
* Improved the graphics and wall pieces that were occasionally not visible at the Ourania Altar.
* Removed an inaccessible Mining rock from the middle of a river.
* The frog mask should no longer render through your head or perform oddly when using emotes.
* The zombie mask should no longer distort female players’ heads.
* Your feet should no longer appear to sink into the pier on Jatizso.
* A ladder to an underground area has been trimmed to prevent it popping out a little too much.
* improved the animations for cats catching rats. The cats should no longer glide, but pounce ferociously.
* The larupia hat was causing issues with a chathead animation.
* A palm tree that was misaligned with its trunk has been fixed on Ape Atoll.
* Spiritual warriors in the God Wars Dungeon were using a punching animation even though they obviously have a weapon equipped.
* Updated the graphics for a crate that wasn't quite sealed.
* Updated some wall models in K’ril Tsutsaroth’s room, as a small section didn't fit in with the surroundings.
* Improved the view when wandering around the Tree Gnome Village to take the walkways above into account.
* Grass next to a statue has now been brought down to earth.
* Drops weren't appearing on specific tiles in Brimhaven Dungeon.
* Updated all doors in the Dorgesh-Kaan area.
* Updated the symbol on the air tiara to be a little more visible.
* Fixed an issue with the red pirate hat
* Adjusted the model for the ‘tatty’ torso option on your basic appearance.
* Wearing Ahrim's hood should no longer appear to change female players’ faces.
* The strap no longer renders through the gnome goggles.
* The Davy kebbit Hat has been updated to work better with chatheads.
* Slightly modified the abyssal whip inventory icon to better resemble its actual appearance.
* Wearing the 10th Squad Sigil and a granite platebody should no longer cause graphical issues.

Quests

* Adjusted the text on the Runecrafting skill guide regarding Rune Mysteries.
* Corrected the grammar in the balloon travelling interface.
* Ali the Wise's chat has been updated to reflect your actions in the Temple of Ikov quest.
* Added various sound effects in My Arm's Big Adventure.
* The ‘Showdown’ song from Monkey madness has been given a bit of a revamp, as well as added brass and drums.

Minigames

* An odd bug with Soul Wars meant that players who've been waiting a while weren't teleported to the game from the waiting room on occasion.
* The former Bounty Hunter craters now tell players to head to Bounty Worlds.
* Home teleport will now teleport you to Edgeville on a Bounty World.
* Changed a few areas of the map that were either thought to be safe areas or hotspots that shouldn't have been.
* Fixed a few typos in Barbarian Assault.

Miscellaneous

* The small Runecrafting pouch was giving the wrong message when full.
* Fixed an issue with the Pinball random event.
* A few music tracks have changed categories.
* Updated a hint to unlock a track.
* The song "My Arm's Journey" has been made louder, as it was quite quiet before.
* Binding runes at the Astral Altar was missing the usual informative message.
* Random events were occasionally failing to put you back where you were whisked away from, but now they should.
* Adjusted the code for the Varrock Palace wall shortcut near the Grand Exchange.
* The Lumbridge Achievement Diary reward lamp can now be properly destroyed.
* Improved the examines on overgrown cats.
* The digging sound should correctly synchronise with various animations.
* Added the ‘inventory is full’ sound when catching lava fish.
* Fixed an issue when thieving and then clicking on a location like stairs, which has also introduced a behaviour change. If you were fighting an NPC, and someone else got caught picking its pocket, the NPC would previously walk out of combat and wander away. This meant that thieves could slow down players who wanted to fight the pickpocketable NPCs. The new code means that the NPC should be far less likely to wander out of combat.
* Various random events now have bank deposit boxes in them so you don't have to drop anything if your inventory was full but need it to complete the event.

I did the quest yesterday (need to keep wearing me quest cape, after all! laugh.gif), and found it quite entertaining and well-written; unlike some, I enjoy mid-level quests. When I got the message I'd reached 75% and could go talk to Leela, I ignored it and went ahead to 100% restoration.

During the progress of restoring, I got:

Magic XP for killing the Shadows - total of 5,000
Construction XP for repairing the furniture - total of 4,200
Crafting XP for improving the Queen's statue - total of 3,350
Cooking XP for replacing the grain & wine - 2,100 (I believe you get this on whichever you do second)
Prayer XP for restoring the god statues - total of 6,500

Also, once I'd killed all the shadows, the Queen talked to me and had quite a bit of info to give.

I then went to Leela & completed the quest - she gave no extra reward. I've since tried talking to Ali Morrissane, Osman, the Sorceress (and her Apprentice), the Queen again, Reldo, everyone in the Varrock Museum, and Wise What's-his-name in Nardeh, with no results.

I read on another forum that Mod has now retracted the statement, saying he was mistaken, and personally I suspect the "extra reward" is nothing but the extra XP you get while restoring the Queen all the way.

There's a quest guide in the website content submissions area.
However, to quickly answer your question, the real name isn't in the tomb; you have to get it from Ali Morrissane. Remember when he said it would take special persuasion for him to give up the original papyrus?

Hmm, what item gives a player powers of persuasion? smile.gif

To get the Real Name On Papyrus, You need to talk to Ali Morrisane Again (With your Charos Ring (e) equipped) eventually you will charm him into giving you the Real Name.

P.S- You dont need another squirk'juice

Also, About the Quest: Really liked the quest, Although Jagex have said it follows on through the mahjarrat series type thing, I think that the Queen will end up being a usful source of information (Possibly allowing other gods e,g- Ichtlarin, to help out cause)
