Windows XP Pro SP3 is what I typically use but I also test software and give assistance in a number of other operating systems. I tend to stick to Windows, but also dab in Linux as well.
Stobbo
Windows XP and Vista.

Aslong as I can use the Internet, a good Office suite and MSN, I am happy.

Windows XP/MS-DOS 3.3/Debian on my desktop computer, Windows XP on my laptop.

Well, on the laptop bottom, it says "Windows Vista". I dunno, but it just says it.
Kwinten
Vista Home Premium.

Good enough for me.

Eh, i use XP, my favourite system, its universal:
Gaming, office, Media Center (Ocourse when its MCE Edition), and also i can browse my phone fully and use it fully, even in apps and its calendar without any other then the cable plugged in laugh.gif
I wont change for any other then another Windows.
Then i would lose Nokia PC Suite. closedeyes.gif (And i NEED it REALLY much.. happy.gif )

I might need to install Windows 7 in MSVPC now..
Just remembered it when i saw this topic.. laugh.gif (Some weekends since i downloaded laugh.gif )

Windows 7. Couldn't face going back to Vista or XP now. I'm hooked biggrin.gif

I'm using Vista and I want Vista. smile.gif

I really enjoy using Vista. I've had 0 problems. I've also heard that Win7 is going to be fairly expensive when it's released.

Perfection.
Purity.

Also because I've got a metric intercourseton of old DOS games and I'm just too cool for DOSBox.

(Besides that, 3.3 came out in 1987 and 4.0 came out in 1988, so it's at least 21 years behind. cute.png)

I disagree. These are the rumored prices:

* Windows 7 Starter: $199
* Windows 7 Home Premium: $259
* Windows 7 Professional: $299
* Windows 7 Ultimate: $319

Definitely not worth that price compared to Vista.

People only like Win7 because other people like it. People only hate Vista because others hate it. Vista is one of the best OS I've used. smile.gif

True that.

Windows 7 is much overrated. Yes, the startup is faster. Yes, it has a few more features (that can be gotten as freeware downloads) that Vista doesn't have, but there's really not much more to it. Vista update. That's what it is.

Might download it with torrents once it's oficially released. What're you gonna do about it, huh?

I completely disagree with you about Windows 7. I would happily pay those prices to get a solid operating system that is significantly faster, more stable, more compatible with older programs and more secure than its predecessor, Vista. And besides, those prices are RUMOURED prices - no guarantee that the prices will be anything close to that.

And the reason I like Windows 7 is not because other people like it. I like it because I find it better than any Windows operating system I have ever used.

I wouldn't call it a 'Vista update'. I would call it a very capable new operating system, soon to be released.

And no freeware downloads would be able to seriously alter the underlying architecture of Vista, which would be necessary to make Vista like Windows 7 (OK, it would technically be possible...but it would certainly be illegal).

No need to buy a new computer. Just download the Windows 7 RC now for free and dual-boot it (if you don't know how to do this, there's plenty of help in the Windows 7 RC topic). It will stop being fully functional in March 2010, but that's still plenty of time to test it and see if you like it.

EDIT: Replied to LP Forever.

That tells a bit what devs want.. happy.gif (Good ol' games on the go)
But still, there was some good games.
Like Liero. (Whcih i now have on phone too..)
Uh.. what do you mean by "metric intercourston"?
Is it that you love the DOS games?
Do you have it on the same computer or multiple? pfft.gif

I dont really want to talk about my new Win7 installation.. bleh.gif
Its slow as a.. well.. snail.
But the visual effects are great, like the startup, and the menu button.
It really looks like Vista, just no sign of the Sidebar yet.
Wonder if i actually installed the latest at all.. laugh.gif (It says 7001, is it not the RC?)
I have such a mess on my Elements HDD.. box.gif

DOS 6 was far superior... nah, i just use Command Prompt for DOS games, they still work...

Anyway, i use Vista HP 32bit and Kubuntu 9.04 64bit.

Hahaha MS-DOS 3.3

I have Windows XP Pro SP3/Windows 7 RC /Ubuntu 9.04

Windows XP for normal computing
Windows 7 for testing
Ubuntu for programming
Bob-sama
Vista Ultimate 64-bit, Vista Business 32-bit, and Xubuntu 8.10. I like the OS's that I have though I'd like if the netbook remix supported the original EeePC 900s better.

Are you kidding me? Windows 7 is everything that Vista should have been.

It uses way less in terms of resources. In fact, I've got it connected to a PC with 1GB of ram. Something I couldn't have ever done with Vista.

It uses 10% less resources on my setup with 2gb of RAM.

I am thinking about installing Win7 on another laptop that only has 1gb of RAM, but on my laptop I don't feel there is a need, especially when I have Vista customized completely to my needs and I don't want to go through that again with 7.

You run DOS games through Cmd?

I just remember an old classic.. Midtown Madness 2..
Which i still have right now, though very patched out..
And i found out its a similar thing like Halo Custom Edition:
You can load in new cars and maps!! wub.gif
I have improved it by using a Shader Mod...
And changing the mtm2.exe to another for faster startup without DOS. (It could take long time for it to start, sometimes never because of no DOS in XP)
And Microsoft has never told about it officially or made tools for it.. huh.gif
But, 10 years after release its like Midtown Madness 3 if you patch it right laugh.gif

Old games WERE BETTER then new ones.. rolleyes.gif

How do you do DOS games via CMD? I want that...

Anyways, I run Windows Vista Home Basic on my laptop, but my family computer runs Windows XP Media Center Edition. Both are pretty good (though the home desktop is getting old, becoming sluggish).

I really want a MacBook Pro... I know OS X > Windows

I'm on OS X 10.5.7 right now. Love it. I have Windows 7 RC on two desktops, one of which dual boots to Vista and two laptops that run XP. OS X is still the best in my opinion.

Windows XP is by far the most stable. I do like Vistas theme but that's not whats important. I've used many version of Linux, and I've used windows 7. My favorite Linux Distro is Ubuntu.
