This is just an assignment i did in class the other day, we had to write a poem about our name, or a name we would want, I couldn't think of anything so I just chose a random name happy.gif

I wish my name was Zeke,
It would be easy to speak.
People wouldn't call me lard,
So it would be less hard.
I also wish my name was Tom,
Why didn't you name me that mom?
It just rolls off the tongue,
And would be niuce to be called when young.

Thanks
P.S. Lard is a nickname people call me because my name is Laird angry.gif

I feel as if the rhymes are forced.

I couldn't find anything that rhymed with lard that had a good rhythm or even made since, I tried bard and card and barred and starred.... but they didn't really work

It's better than anything I could manage. I'm not much of a critic when it comes to poetry, but even I noticed the forced rhyming.

You should add another line about each name and change the number of syllables in a couple of lines to make it into two limerics, because it would flow a lot better, and perhaps hide the forced rhymes.

Something tells me this kid isn't in high school... or even middle school, perhaps.

You didn't read Post #3, did you? tongue.gif
As other people have said, the rhyming is a little forced, but it's an okay poem, especially for a seventh grader. It's probably better than what two-thirds of my little brother's seventh grade peers could do.

i didnt hear the forcedness but i cant even write a haiku (is that spelled right?) so i give it a 7/10 cause it was short but again, i cant even do that xd.gif
