Every

time i look in the scape lounge, i see like 7 clubs thread. Why the

should this be permitted, as they are spam threads, if the forum family got closed a year ago. That was a spam topic too. Now why don't you close all those topics because they are polluting the scape lounge, I barely even go there anymore and a lot of people agree with me.
Ban Club Threads?

Well, let's get this straight before everyone starts arguing about it. What is The 'Scape Lounge for?

To make topics that don't fit into the other categories or that don't generate much discussion, not to post spam.

I certainly agree. The Lounge has taken a turn for the worse.

What Do You Think of the Last Poster thread, moved to Fun 'n Games because of lower quality posts, would actually be about average on the spam meter for topics on the first page right now.

Not average, compared to
that rubbish, your topic is profound and important.

What are you talking about? Club threads should always be aloud! I bet you dont like them just because you cant join any of them!
SL is the /b/ of Sals, and it will stay that way until I am banned from that... That.. Site..

I have noticed this on occasion myself and have commented on it once or twice but what can you do?
I too remember a time when every visit to the lounge would give you something interesting to look at and I found myself having a great time there...with blogging rearing its ugly head everywhere there simply is nothing happening

All you get now is people making topics for others to count to 20.
Since none of those "stupid" topics are actually breaking any rules I am reluctant to close them down because it is a case of better the devil you know
I have an idea or two but what do you think can be done to make the lounge lively again and get rid of this destructive scourge?

Scape Lounge is a room to spam. I think we need a new forum where we can spam in it all.

The 'Scape Lounge is not a room to spam. If you want to spam, go play RuneScape.

Go to /b/ then instead. I don't get why people are trying to bring /b/ to The Scape Lounge when it's purpose isn't for that.

All these "clubs" bring is random spam and they put all the good topics into the 2nd+page so its hard to find them.

If the mods can't shut it down can we flame

I have a feeling its just a fad, it should die down in a few weeks (or get doubled by the summer holidays

That's too bad. The Scape Lounge isn't supposed to be an alternative. You got banned so live with it.

Ban clubs, so ban all those Console game clubs?

I wish some entertaining stuff like Macki's leaving topic was still there.

I can't even remember the last time I went there and actually posted (aside from some of the Fun Games section - most of which aren't fun by the way). But I used to frequent the place, just as many of you did.
It's been said in times past, but it seems that this forum needs to see it posted again. Administratively, there is only so much we can do. If we begin to regulate the living juice out of what can or cannot be posted in what forum and when then we lose what makes us the great community we are. What makes the biggest changes (for better or worse) are the actions that you, the forum member, take. If you want the Lounge to become interesting again, post interesting things in there. Ignore the useless threads to the point where it will cease to matter if they are 'spam' or not since they will be pushed to the graveyard of page 3 or 4 to make way for your useful topics.
By no means is flaming of anything acceptable, even if you feel it is disruptive to the community. Nothing constructive comes out of verbally abusing someone. Le Breaker did the correct thing in making a topic to discuss the issue he felt was important. (Not that any of you were planning on flaming of course...)
I always appreciate the constructive feedback that can be found here and I hope that I was helpful in my response.

Agreed, best way to deal with them is simply not to post on them...after a while they will die off completely.
The only reason people make these threads is to get a post count, if they see people getting high counts with interesting stuff they will be encouraged to follow suit...hopefully

The problem isn't clubs, the problem is idiots turning any kind of original thread style to pop up into a fad. Every two weeks there's a new fad. It's stupid.
It's gotten so out of control, I seriously think that, for a period of time, parody topics, etc. should be banned from the Lounge completely, just to see if it would lower the amount of spam there.
