I decided to try an easier type of pixeling. All i used for reference was my Nintendo DS screen with pokemon diamond in it smile.gif

I had already made a pikachu pixel with the actual colors from the game (i think) a while back. I didn't post it becuase i didn't finish, and it didn't look too good anyway tongue.gif

It took about 1 hour because of all the shading, and i think it turned out pretty well. This is my 2nd pixel by the way, so don't rate too harshly please tongue.gif

If you save and look at it zoomed in on paint you will see all the different shading colors. It used 10 colors altogether.

I'm not sure how it took one hour, overall I can do one of that size with a source to draw from in half an hour. Its good but i think the pixel of the week should be about expanding palets

Ok, thanks Easl smile.gif

It took one hour because i had to make it look perfect. The lines are so odd you really can't just make a trace drawing of it. Actually the outer lines themselves took me 20 mintues to get right. The feet can't be too big, the arms and ears can't be too thick, and face has to be perfect or all the attributes on it won't fit. Like the eyes, cheecks, and nose all had to be on there in a specific way, i changed his face about 4 times.

This isn't yours.

Comparing it to this image : http://i37.tinypic.com/s4mkv7.png

Which I found using google image search of "pikachu sprite".

Here's the images side by side at 400% zoom.

He has amazing eyes then to have the same colors and copy 80% of the image exactly down to the pixel by looking at his DS.

Look at the eyes, the mouth. It's the same image.

I'm afraid I must agree with you.
Either way, it looks good. Go Pikachu! laugh.gif

Thanks Legend. I'm afraid you're going to have to make another one if you want to enter POTW. This is much too close to the reference. A reference is meant to be something you look off as a REFERENCE, not a template.

Ok, my bad slanty.gif

I didn't take anything offline though bleh.gif I just used my DS smile.gif

The eyes are definatly different now that you zoomed in, i forgot a ton of detail on the ride sides, and the mouth too has a lot of detail on top of it, and bottom left hand...and not to mention the whole left side of the mouth is 2 pixels longer then the real one angry.gif

Why yes, i have 15/20 vision tyvm smile.gif And the pixels are suprisingly big, in the PokeDex you can see all the cross shading and eveything!

Please don't automatically assume someone stole the picture just because it looks almost the same in 2 places...i made this totally myself, if you look in the competitions and project you will see i made the outline myself and altered the eyes and mouth several times to make it look more realistic.

EDIT: Doom, after seeing this are you sure i can't submit it?

He used an image as an example. Take a closer look at the eyes, the mouth. Not the same image. Similar. Not the same.

Aside from that, it's good enough, but it is just a copy, i'm afraid.

Exactly. I don't think that Chaoss would have ripped it.

Thanks guys smile.gif

What's the point of ripping anyway? I'm terrible at pixeling so if i ripped the picture everyone would notice straight away.

If you're going to push away future pixelers like this just because the picture is similar to something else, then good luck getting more active members in here like i'm trying to be.

Oh, and what's wrong with looking at a picture for reference? Look at Celtic's picture and the real one. They look EXACTLY the same. Are you going to say he ripped his picture? Of course not! So, why is mine any different? Sure it's a lot easier, but it looks the same as the original one. Isn't that what a pixel is supposed to do? look like it's real? bleh.gif

Here's Celtic's pixel. The second comment has a link to the real picture. the final product os on the second page. They look very similar, just like mine and the real one.
Dr Pepper
The colors are almost exactly the same, although I do have to admit the head area near the ears and the eyes and ears don't look all that similar.

There's a pretty big difference. Celtic copied the dragon, yes, but he didn't copy it pixel by pixel. He drew it using the image as the design. You have copied parts of the image down to the pixel. The pixel you have drawn isn't really yours, because you might as well have just copied and pasted it. I don't think it's ripping but I don't think you can truly claim credit for all of it.

Nice Pikachu. That reminds me of the old days when pokemon blue and red were still new. Good times
