Prologue
It was sunset. The sun's rays beamed down upon the valley, turning into a grid. The grass swayed in the wind and bushes and trees stood out in the empty field, adding variety to the dull presence. A single unicorn sprinted across the wet, damp grass, its horn reflected off the glistening grass blades. Its black beady eyes surveyed the valley looking for life. Only pitiful ladybugs and ants roamed this valley, as the unicorn probed the exterior with his overpowered eyesight. Nothing. It neighed out in frustration, agitated at its own loneliness. It needed a soul mate. A companion, someone that he could share times with. He needed someone that cared. But ladybirds and ants were of weak intelligence and could not fill the gap in the unicorn's heart. Its brown hooves looked like mud squirted up the creature's thick, white leg and its mane flowed like feathers through the wind that howled as the sun set over the valley. The unicorn stopped running until it was at the centre of the valley. It looked around, knowing that there was nothing in the swaying grass but it never hurt him to try. Its eyes gleamed out as sadness emitted from its depressed face. It bowed its head down and the sky started to trickle rain onto its mane and horn. It swung its neck up and neighed as loud as he could to the gods above who tortured him with his miserable presence.

Chapter One- Rain and the skies above

''And keep your money an' your ranks and all that jazz.'' Shouted Clex as two guards grabbed him by his arms. He flailed and tried to wiggle out of his captors hands but there strong muscles aided them. They wore full white armour which gleamed in the rain and deep puddles covered the empty courtyard. Their purple plumes stuck out of their helms like a hag's crooked nose, Clex felt the clamps between his arms release and he was thrown head first into a puddle. His arms tried to shield his visage but to no avail, he landed in the puddle. Dirty, brown water covered Clex head to toe as he glared into his own ugly reflection as the chuckles of the two guards filled his ears as they walked away, mocking his dramatic exit. Lifting himself up with aching hands, his own podgy nose started to ache. He put his hand to it and expected it, he sighed. A red blood smear stained across his palm, as Clex grabbed a cloth from his pocket and wiped his dirty, unwashed nose with it. The rain made Clex's hair damp and it flattened the usual spikes into a smooth gentlemen's style. Completely the image Clex wanted to avoid. He stared back into the muddy puddle and admired his own face. A small nose, smooth hair, freckles and crooked teeth, Clex were never the ladies man. Not that he cared of course, in Clex's own opinion, women were a waste. All they did was fuss about clothing and moan about winter. Clex was, in his own personal opinion, an adventurer who liked to dabble in the eccentrics of foreigner's life, dangerous work when he visited the island of Karamja. Gritting his yellow teeth, he started walking along the bridge to Falador. On both sides of the bridge was a small lake which circled the perimeter of the castle, muddy and forgotten banks jotted across the watery landscape. After a few minutes walking, admiring the peaceful nature of the ducks and swans as they swam in nirvana, ignoring the plagues and troubles of the world, Clex looked back at the grand white knights castle. A true sight to behold, the castle looked like a overgrown tree, it's balcony's and towers seemed of never ending height but the blue flag at the top of the tallest tower was still clearly visible in the atrocious conditions. He turned back away from the castle and stepped down the wide steps into the bustling city of Falador.

Falador's main square was noticeably empty, maybe because of the rain, maybe because of a black knight invasion alert. Still, barters and merchants stood in the rain shielding there expensive, sometimes useless, wares from the wet conditions. Guards kitted out in bronze swords and medium helms wore magnificent chainmail's of pure iron which gleamed of the puddles of the streets below. They marched in order and discipline, looking at the horizon, looking for hostilities to execute. Clex grunted and set off for the huge oak city gates. They were truly a sight to behold. You could throw a thousand and one rioting outsiders at that city gates and they wouldn't budge. The guards eyed Clex with a glare of despise. Adventurers were frowned upon in certain realms and Asgarnia was no exception, although gone were the days where you could be hanged for it, even if there was certain degree of hostility towards you. Clex ignored them; he was used to these angry glares all his life, so no offense slipped his tongue. Clex could see it was nearing twilight through the grey sky but he pay no heed to it as he walked along the muddy path and ignored it as it grew to mere nothingness until Clex was at a crossroad. He looked back and saw the huge walls and gates of the city of Falador far in the distance, like mist. But then fatigue hit Clex like a sack of bricks and his eyes started to close. Clex bent down on the soaked winter grass and laid his head down. He fell asleep looking at the inferno of cloud, thunder and rain in the skies above.

The unicorn's wide mouth tasted the wet rain above and its pink tongue recoiled at its funny taste. This was not water like it had tasted in the stream a day ago, but funny water that seemed to fall from the sky. Now why would water fall from the sky, maybe it was Guthix balancing the falls and flourishes of the crops and flowers in the lands or Saradomin bringing water to starving chickens and creatures of lesser beings. Or Zamorak with his insane desire to cause flooding or poisoning through the floods and tidal waves that wrecked harbours and docks. The unicorn wandered in its thoughts , pondering the universe, the gods and the seas and what lay beyond up in the grey, misty skies.

Chapter Two- Sack

Clex rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. He had just awoken from his slumber, on the damp green grass. Not exactly what could be considered a bed but Clex was used to these uncomfortable situations and most nights, he slept on the gritty, damp grass. He unpacked some water and stale bread from his worn, treasured bag. He gnawed on the bread, crumbs falling, never to be seen again in the swaying grass. The weather was a mix of sunny and windy, the weather was still recovering from its ferocious behaviour yesterday. Grunting, Clex lifted himself up and set off for the western part of Asgarnia, spying the enormous wall of Asgarn in the horizon. Maybe a day’s trek, maybe if he skipped lunch, he should be there by sunset. But they were only estimates and instead of estimating distances, Clex did the important thing, travelling. It was a mostly uninteresting walk towards the wall of Asgarn. Mainly shrubs and oak trees littered the landscape; the only interesting thing of note was the holy statue of Saradomin. Pilgrims and monks praised it as Clex passed it. Clex gave it a glare but walked past, defiant. After a few miles of walking, Clex’s legs ached and he was tempted to stop and rest but determination and force of will prevented him from that option and he continued.

The wall of Asgarn was not far off and Clex decided that it would be hard to get lost now since he had the wall, which stretched to the wilderness and beyond, to guide him through his travels. Clex uttered some words and felt energy pour out of him and into the grass below. The grass started to shimmer and it was yanked out of its roots violently and floated up to the sky, equal to the height of Clex’s brow. It formed into a small arrow and pointed north, where the city gates were. Clex nodded at it and the arrow turned back into grass and floated back down to the rocky ground. Clex set off, grunting in pain at his aching limbs.

The valley was lit up by the moonlight when an owl flew off Clex’s head causing him to duck in impulse at the fast movement. Clex staggered over the smooth grass, and he decided it was time to rest. Any more walking might make him vomit or fall over in unconsciousness. He laid down on the smooth grass and shut his eyes. Sleep overcame his thoughts and his other senses; all that mattered was simply, rest.

When Clex opened his eyes after his sleep was interrupted, he only saw black. He tried to comprehend what had happened but pain seemed to urge through his body and after his eyes had adjusted to the blackness, he thought he saw blood on his hands. He heard noises, presumably goblin noises from outside the blackness. He could sense his hands and feet were tied up and his mouth was gagged with a dirty rag. He heard a shout and more pain stung at his head wound. Then, Clex blacked out.

Clex woke up in the sack which was open. He coughed and stuck his head out of the dirty sack for fresh air. He took a long deep breath and looked around the room. Well, not really a room, more of a dilapidated hut with a failing fireplace in the middle accompanied by one small, diminutive figure slumped across the fire, keeping his grubby hands and feet warm. A goblin thought Clex as he carefully edged out of the sack. He managed to get out of the sack, silently, and looked for anything that he could defend himself with if he could escape. There was an exit to the room, the sitting goblins spear was slanted against the wall near the exit. Clex creeped over, making sure not to make any noise or alert the goblin and grabbed the spear. It was a fine spear that felt perfect in Clex’s hands.

‘’Hey!’’ screamed the goblin as he leaped out of his seat and rushed over to Clex, dagger lifted.

Clex started to panic, and threw the spear at the goblin. It hit him between the eyes, green blood spurting out of the wound and onto the muddy floor below. The goblin screamed as it forced the spear out of its skull. It fell on its skull and the bloodied spear fell to the floor. The goblins small brains fell out of its pierced skull and Clex turned away in revulsion. Clex could hear shouting and screaming from outside the shack. It was a near deafening noise and it stung Clex’s ears. His head stung causing Clex to shout in pain. He ran to the exit and suddenly shielded his eyes. A huge mob of goblins, carrying rags on fire and pitchforks, stood at Clex and the dead goblin in the back. There must have been 50 goblins there, after one adventurer. Clex’s eyes stung and he saw the mob start to race toward him. He would die here, he knew it. Suddenly, he heard a neigh and turned his head to the sound. He thought it might have been a sign to represent death, or a noise you hear as your life is taken away but before him, on a muddy hill, like a beacon of hope in a rough sea, stood a single unicorn, horn gleaming off the flames of the charging goblins as they turned their heads and glanced at the creature. Some of them dropped their pitchforks and some of them blew out their rags, but no matter who did what, the mob had stopped attacking Clex.

You've got to learn to be patient Squiggle. Not everyone has the time to check out new stories and review or comment on them. It could take weeks before someone actually posts a reply. In the meanwhile, all you have to do, is be patient and keep releasing new and better chapters. Double posting won't help either. I'll try and get to reading and reviewing this later onwards.

Hmm Out of my experience (which i don't have much of) i would say its not to bad but a little to "Once upon a time" I think its might just be the Unicorn

Oh and a hint i don't know if you ment to do this or not but i guess it helps maybe you spelled "Hey!" ‘’Hey!’’ it may not be a mistake i just thought it just might be one aware.gif not sure though
