Can we please make a rule that forbids talking about banned members? This is just as bad as talking about famous people like in the General Rs Discussions. Also, how about a no Happy Birthday topic. No one really cares, and it seems to spam. If you care about the person whose birthday it is, you really should just PM them. If it's your birthday, you're just bringing attention to your smug self.

I agree with the birthday one. The reason the calendar's there should be to prevent topics like that. Some forums that I'm on have pretty much taken away the calendar entirely to stop it.

I don't see how a topic a day causes so much distress.

Dude its a birthday, I care.
And I like nostalgia, so how about we vote against this needless complaining topics?

What's wrong with discussing someone who is banned? Some people may have questions about who they were, or may just want to discuss them. I can't see much of a reason for banning birthday topics, either. They seem to have more of a purpose then half of the topics in the Scape Lounge. Unless a topic is detrimental to the forum, why should it be banned? Going on that logic, we could just ban posting altogether, and require all discussions to take place in PMs.

As if the forum doesn't seem cold enough at times with some of its rules lets add more of them.

Happy Birthday friends are fine, IMO. Oftentimes I won't realise it's a friends birthday unless I happen to glance in one of those threads.
Banned members are a tricky one. As long as they're just people inquiring into who these banned members are (Like Mutt's topic on Macki), I'm fine with them.

I don't know many people who are bothered over either, and I don't see how talking about banned mfmbers harms anyone.
And as kemosabe says, I often wouldn't realise it was a friend's birthday, unless there were these topics.

We should ban complaining about trivial things.

It seems we've run out of things to whine about!
If birthday topics and topics about banned members were against the rules, then surely people will come forward about the mods being too 'harsh' and the rules being petty or what not. You can't please everyone, so trying to please the majority is the closest you'll get and as far as I can gather, no one is going to have an issue with these sort of topics.

And that's arguably a good thing!

How hard can it be to just ignore the topic?

This is probably about my Macki and Beeboy topics, right? I heard alot about them, but didn't know why. What's your beef with them?
Although, we should ban needless, whiny suggestions.

PM someone instead of making a topic.

How was I supposed to know who knew?
I'm so sorry I wasted your time posting 2 topics you obviously couldn't ignore.

Beeboy a member who was promoted to admin, promoted a different member to admin and essentially went mad with power quickly.
Bluefire incident was when we had "Senior Mods" which lasted I believe 3 days, and got pissed off when the group was disbanded and started making all sorts of topics to my knowledge, through multiple accounts.
And Macki was explained.

Irony.
I think its fine to have topics about banned members. I don't see a reason why they should be outlawed.
