Hi,

I am using a GNU Image Manipulation Program guide and I need to use a brush that is an .abr type, I have it, but it wants to open in Firefox. How do I change this?

Thanks

Ptolemy
.ABR is a filetype for Adobe Photoshop brushes.

If you want to convert them to .GBR/(I forgot the other one), then you must get explicit permission from the maker asking if you can convert the brushes. If you do get permission, then use ABRViewer to convert the brushes to .PNG. Then open with The GIMP and save it as a .GBR (or whatever it is).

GIMP is able to open abr files. No need to convert them.

You can't just 'open' a brush file. You need to put the abr in a folder like C:\Users\Your name\Gimp 2.0\brushes.

Then GIMP will be able to use that brush in the brushes dialogue.

Doesn't really matter what the icon is like. It assigns itself an icon from another program because PS isn't installed on your computer. It should show up in the brushes dialogue of GIMP though.

You could right click > open with > then select gimp from there to change the icon and open it automatically when you double click it.
