I think one word posts should be allowed. When one word conveys all that needs to be said (or even a smiley), why force someone to post more?
Posts that just say "lol" and such would be under spam wink.gif
Pixel Bunnie
The post of a discussion is to convey and express your ideas, as well as the reasoning behind your opinion; replying with a one word post does not do that, nor does it contribute anything worthwhile to the discussion.
Ruin
you made this topic multiple times already and the rules still stand what makes you think this topic will change? Also the whole point of a forum is to discuss things

But discussions sometimes can use one word. Why is "agreed" so much worse than "I agree"?
Donovan
If one word is all you can contribute to a discussion topic, why not just stick to the 'Scape Lounge? It has more lax rules concerning 1-word posts. If, for example, you vote in a poll in the Polls & Surveys forum and you don't have anything to say about your choice you should simply submit your vote and move on. The vote and a post with one word expressing your vote is valued the same way, except the former abides by the rules that have always been.

Nobody is forcing you to post either.

"I agree completely."

@Mutt: That didn't add anything to the discussion. How is one word like that going to add to the discussion?

Have you read http://runescape.salmoneus.net/forums/inde...howtopic=280893 ? That topic basically turns into this one.

So why does two words contribute oh-so-much more to the topic than one?

They don't, and can be reported. Fini says that clearly in the link Hawk provided, had you looked at it.

To quote the forum rules: "Any post that adds nothing to a topic is considered spam, and is not allowed here."
Hawk

Saying "I completely agree" doesn't add to the topic either. You need sustenance, at least a bit, in a post for it to mean anything.

But you do not actually contribute anything to the discussion by just saying, 'Agreed' or, 'Agree'. My point was that replies should be valuable and contribute something to the discussion because if they don't, then there is no point posting.

Not everyone has the time to write long detailed answers.

Okay, but I haven't once in my life answer a question on the INTERNET with just one word.

A question that can be answered with one word, shouldn't be asked.

You're exaggerating. There's a difference between a paragraph and a sentence. If the topic is a poll on "Are You Afraid of the Dark?", you shouldn't just post "Yes" and an essay on where your fear comes from isn't necessary. If you don't have the time to post "Yes. I have a nightlight right next to my bed.", why the hell are you on the computer?

Honestly, no one gives a fudge whether or not you, or anyone else, would be afraid of the dark. The only interesting parts of the thread would be the poll and the stories or information that come from the posts.
Sklog78
The limit is one word, if you don't have anything more to say then yes or no, don't say it.

I'll use the "What's the funniest thing you've done/seen?" topic for an example. If someone posts something that answers the topic, people will want to read it because it's interesting and possibly funny. If you post right after with ":xd:", no one will care because it has nothing interesting in it.

im pretty sure this topic was made just for the sake of whining about something. Its pretty hard to make a good point or contribute to a conversation with one word and it takes about 10 seconds to write a decent post anyway.

You don't need lengthy responses to convey your message; a sentence or two will suffice, no one is saying you need to write paragraphs. Anyway, if you don't have the time to write a sentence or two, perhaps leave the reply until you do have the time. Quality of posts is more important than quantity anyway.

Is it really that hard to write more? Personally, i think the no 1 word post rule is fair.

Also, for the longest word argument, you can say "The longest word is ______ it means _____"

It's not too hard to type more words, this post took maybe 20 seconds if even.
