Well for a while I've always tipped my friends towards Sals when they need help leveling a stat. They always respond 10 minutes later saying the guide doesn't tell them what to train with. I then tell them to go in the tips-and-guides section, then go on skill x.

It would be a simple fix to link the magic guide with the magic tips guide at the top of a thread.

Oppinions?

In most of the quick links table of a skill guide, there's a link that will direct you to the skill's tips and training guide. The only skill guides which do not have these links are the the guides with skills that do not have a tips and training guide.

Yes but it's not really clear there, I mean if me and non of my friends have noticed it must show that its a bit hidden there. Mainly because the link kinda looks like it's just part of the thread.

All you had to do was scan the quick links table. That's what I would have done if I were in your situation. But still, it is sort of hidden. Where do you suggest that it should be moved to?

I can't think of a name that could be any more clear as that. tongue.gif

I like that idea, it would really help distinguish that guide and the calculator from the skill guide.

But would there ever be the chance that both guides can be merged into one, or would the merged guide in turn just be too big?

I like this idea, seems silly to have two relevant guides seperate.

In some cases it would be very big, I think the idea of having the two boxes would be the best 'compromise' so to speak, otherwise some of the more in-depth Guides would be outrageously long blink.gif

With a decent table of contents and headings Im sure it can't be that bad, and its easy to have all the info in one place.

I'm personally fine with having both guides merged into one, but I would really feel bad for people who use a dial-up connection. Having to wait the time it takes for their connection to load one guide (x2) could definitely be a pain for them. tongue.gif

I know that Zybez puts their tips with the corresponding skill guide, but this site's tips have much more content than that of Zybez.

The problem with merging skill and help guides together is that they aren't exactly the same thing - one caters to general skill info, while the other focuses on training methods. Some people don't need the skill training info and just need an overview of the skill, while others just want the training info. Combining the two will make "long" guides unmanageable. For example, look at the Construction, Summoning and Hunter skill guides, and the Herblore, Farming and Ranging help guides - they're already long, and combining these guides with their skill/training counterpart is going to make for an extremely long guide. Not everyone needs all of that info at once, which is why the guides are separate. For people who do need training methods and tips, the appropriate guide is only a click away from the skill guide.
Choccy
Ok I can understand that. But the link is pretty hidden and not really that clear. So perhaps something along the lines of a clearer bolder link outside the blue box at the top of the page? When people see Hunter skill guide they'll guess it will include the help guide as well, so im just suggesting a clearer way of showing there is another detailed help guide available for that skill, just on a different page.

And what I mean by unclear is that the top few links in the quick links actually are links with-in the particular thread. Soo it may seem more like a table of contents to a person viewing the site.

What you could do is add that black line between 'Mage Training Area' and 'Mage Help Guide'. That will be more noticeable so you'll then see those following links are to other guides or tools.
