So, im back from vacation and checked the store for the Radeon HD 4770.
Its order-ware, and wont be in the shop physically anymore, neither in remote storage,
Only for ordering, which i cant. dry.gif
I need some alternaltive card, and i have been looking but cant find any good ones.
Anyone have suggestions for another card?
I have: 3.20Ghz Intel CPU, 1Gb/960Mb Ram, 350 Watt PSU and PCI-E.

Here is the site they sell from too, processed through Google Translate. And dont worry, TV Card means actually Gfx card.
The site
But still pictures are untranslated.
Hope that it helps. mellow.gif
Because its difficult to find something good.
Some need alot of watts, some have low engine clock and memory clock, and other things.

I think i would need to buy a lite card maybe.
Because many cards need 400 watts.. mellow.gif (Many cards recommend that)
Chris
The Radeon 4770 requires 450W if i'm not mistaken, it might be able to run on a good 400W power supply but 350W won't cut it. sad.gif

What Graphic Cards do they have at the store that you plan on buying from? If you can get a Geforce 8600 or Radeon 3650 then you can go ahead and get one of those but they cost $50 online and stores would often sell them for twice as much.

You would need a better PSU if you wish to get something with more juice.

Uhm.. im not sure if i can use Nvidia, i have a ATI southbridge, and the integrated one is ATI.
Can i then use Nvidia cards?

I will look up 4650, 512Mb or 1Gb?

EDIT: The 4650 with 1Gb is not very impressive, and its not in shop, remote storage.. closedeyes.gif
They only sell 256Mb 8600's too.. mellow.gif

The 4650 specs:
Bus Type: PCI-E 2.0
GPU Clock: 600 Mhz
Memory Bus: 128
Memory Type: DDR2
Memory Size: 1024 MB
Memory Speed: 1000 Mhz
Thermal Solution: FANSINK
Minimum Power Supply Requirement:
Outputs: HDTV, , Dual-Link DVI
Card Dimensions: 6.6" x 4.376" x 0.75"
Package Contents: S-Video Cable, DVI Adapter

Requirements for 4650:
PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard
400 Watt or greater power supply is recommended
Certified power supplies are recommended.
Minimum 1GB of system memory
Installation software requires CD-ROM drive
DVD playblack requires DVD drive
Blu-ray™ playback requires Blu-ray drive and full 1080p display requires a 1080p-capable monitor

I think im pretty lost in this.. box.gif
(And i want to check my PSU again.. rolleyes.gif to look if its true.)

Not very impressive? What do you mean? It's a good little card, cheap and can run most games on full settings, and other on medium.

Peripheral Component Interconnect Express, you don't really need to know this and it's just how it transfers information to the rest of the PC.

GPU Clock is like a processor on the card, dedicated to the graphics. 600 is good, the 4770 is 750 and the 4890 is 850 (i think). nVidia cards are always a lot lower.

Memory Bus is just the way of transferring memory data, unimportant for you to know really but that will suffice.

DDR2 is now pretty much the memory standard. It used to be DDR, and there's DDR3 too but it's quite expensive.

1GB of memory is more than enough to run most games, half that would suffice.

Memory speed is how fast the memory chips can process and transfer the data, fairly unimportant but that's very fast. Most PC memory isn't even 800MHz.

Thermal Solution i'm assuming is how the product is cooled, i'm assuming FANSINK isn't a brand of any sort so it will just mean fan and heatsink, which you would expect of pretty much anything.

Power supply requirement is what wattage it needs your PSU to be, quite important so i would find it out.

Outputs are what plug into the back, i would have preferred HDMI to HDTV but it will still work. DVI is supposed to become the new standard, so unless you have a VGA only monitor then that shouldn't be a problem.

Card dimensions are just how big it is, so just make sure it will actually fit in the case.

Package contents is what you get in the box (apart from the card itself). As i said before, unless your monitor only supports VGA then that shouldn't be a problem.

Just check that you have a PCI-E X16 (not sure about how it works with PCI-E 2) slot on your motherboard.

400W PSU, but wattage isn't the only important thing, there's other factors, not the least of which being build quality. If you could tell us the make and model then we can get back to you.

Certified Power Supplies are just PSUs that they will have tested with the card. Doesn't mean that it wouldn't work if it wasn't, just that it was less likely to, or that it's a strange brand.

Do you have at least 1GB RAM already?

I assume you have a CD-ROM drive...

That also plays DVDs...

I doubt you have Blu Ray or even have need of it in the foreseeable future.

Hope that answers some of your questions. The 4650 is a good card, i recommend it. Where do you live and what is your budget? I'm sure i could find it somewhere else or another card for you.

Uhm.. there is something about my RAM, it says 960Mb because Windows counts 1024 in a byte, so is it 1024Mb of RAM then? (I have 2 of 512Mb chips)
I do have one 16x PCI-E.
I will check out my PSU later.

And im not sure about budget, and i doubt you can help so much when im in norway.
But the price is pretty good i think, 632 NOK.

And i have VGA cable for monitor.
It has a DVI adapter with it too. (Doubt i need S-Video cable)

They have 8 left on remote storage, so i wonder when to buy.. slanty.gif

2*512=1024=1GB

If Windows is showing less then the one or more of the RAM Modules may have degraded.
King Aragorn
In taskmanager it says 982380Kb (= 982Mb)
Would it hold?
MrBiggles5
It shows less RAM because you probably have an integrated graphics card and its using some of your RAM for video memory.
King Aragorn
I opened case and got the model for my PSU, and a shocking number..
I have 300 Watts.. T_T
Manufacturer: Bestec. Model: ATX-300-12Z. Rev.:ECR
Then i get the outputs.
You can ask instead of me writing, because its hard to get those special signs..

People still buy those? Surprised Dell, HP, and Acer haven't ran them out of business yet.
King Aragorn
I dont have eMachines, i have Compaq SR2009SC. (It came with Intel Celeron D 3.20Ghz, 512Mb Ram, Asterope3 Motherboard)
Search for it at HP.com.

Bestec is quite bad. Their ATX-250-12E is responsible for the deaths of thousands of eMachines; the PSU goes bad (+5VSB specifically) and eventually fries the motherboard. Most of the line of them are gutless wonders. Anyways; it's a simple enough task to replace that unit. You don't really need a high-wattage unit (350-400W from a quality unit) but you should still upgrade RAM. If you can get to 2GTB, you'll still be quite limited by the Celeron D. However, a 2x1GB kit of DDR2 is pretty cheap: I bought one over the weekend for <$25. What's your overall budget?

$25: 2x1GB DDR2 800
$53: HD 4650 512MB GDDR3
$210: Phenom II X4 940 BE (quad-core) + Biostar TA790GXB A2+ (Best Deal: fast quad-core plus decent motherboard)
--or....--
$55 + $43 + $12: Foxconn 760G motherboard + Athlon X2 7550 Kuma processor (with 'EMCLVLV29') + CPU cooler

Im not in US, so the set you offer there can get expensive here. (No one notice that i say im in Norway? rolleyes.gif )
I wasnt going to upgrade that much either, and i have Intel 775 socket.

I cant afford all that, it would be alot money needed.

And i would like to keep my motherboard, or else i wont be able to use surround.

All i want to do is play Wii games.. rolleyes.gif (And Halo 2)
But then i think i need to wait with the upgrade.

HD4650 512MB GDDR3 and a Seasonic S12-II 430W. I wouldn't trust that Bestec power supply, period.
King Aragorn
Those do have a reasonable price ohmy.gif
Thank god they havent translated the site fully to norwegian then.. tongue.gif (I think they just copy and paste from the source-site..)

But i have some requirements:
2 optical CD/DVD drives connected
1 HDD connected
and the motherboard. (Many cables)
And there is a memory-card reader, which i really need for fast transfers from my cards. (Its does 8 types of cards biggrin.gif )

It will have these, right, on that price?

I can afford that set biggrin.gif

And i think an upgrade of my PSU is healthy for my computer..
I would need to do it somtime anyway.. sleep.gif
(Are all PSUs the same size? box.gif )
