Topdog
The browser on the iPod Touch does not support java, so thus you cannot play RS on it.
Cattius
Topdog is right, you can't actually play Runescape on your iPod Touch. You can, however, use a remote desktop app to play Runescape on your COMPUTER through your iPod Touch. I love playing RS this way, touchscreens rule tongue.gif

Anyway there are tons of Remote Desktop apps, some are free, the better ones cost money. Get one, and follow the instructions with it to set it up to connect to your computer.

There are some modifcations that you can do so it does work... But its not simple or fast.

There are several guides on YouTube.

Hope this helps.
Emo_Nemo
No Java support plus the processor would choke.

Tweety
Can I browse Sal's forums from my iPod? And, Cattius, may you give me a guide on that please?

When you're connected to a network/internet, open up safari and go to runescape.salmoneus.net.

What is not supported: Java and Flash, although Flash is currently being built for the iPod/iPhone. I think Java may be being worked on, too.

The Java you find on PCs is too heavy.
You couldnt run any PC-Java apps either on the iphone.
Expect an older Java. (The library for PC is big too, takes much space)
Thats why you get a light Java version on mobiles, its also called J2ME (Micro Edition)
As for flash its possible, and on some phones you soon get Flash 10. (Current is 9)

Even my old phone could browse these forums. rolleyes.gif

If you want to know what works, just go there on the browser tongue.gif

About the remote desktop thing - there are tons of different remote desktop apps out there, I suggest you have a look on the App Store and see which one you think is best. If you don't want to do that, however, I can recommend iRdesktop. It's a free app and you can find their website here for support and FAQs.

I couldn't find any video guides on how to set up iRdesktop, so if you use that app you'll only have the text instructions on their site. There is a video here that covers how to use Runescape on your iPod Touch through a remote desktop app called Jaadu, which is very good but costs quite a bit of money.

And yes, you can browse the Sals forums on your iPod Touch, I post through my iPod quite a lot. Almost all sites that don't use Java or Flash can be viewed on the Touch's browser.

I have tried going to Runescape.com on a Nokia, all worked without the game.
It said i didnt have Java.
But actually my phone does have Java, but its not enough JSR's.
Watch out when Java gets released that many JSR's are in the pack. wink.gif (The more, the more capabilities)

Uh guys the question is whether they can browse SAL'S, not play RS.

Anyways, yes you can - I do it all the time. It's a little cumbersome, but it works.

I don't find it cumbersome. In some ways I actually prefer it.

Really? I find the zooming and slower loading frustrating. I don't use it unless I'm on the move or away from my computer.

Tweety did originally ask whether Runescape would work. He edited his post wink.gif

Yeah I kinda figured that after I saw all the posts about it and the edit line on his OP.
