When I woke up on that cold winter night I felt a freezing chill run down my spine all the way to my toes. As I sat up to look around I saw out of the corner of my eye, a man with a gun. I heard a gunshot, a loud scream and then a man run through my room and out the window. A few minutes later I heard police sirens. As I got out of my bed and put my shoes on to see what all the commission was, I heard the doorbell ring. Two police officers standing at my front door, one a women around 5 foot 3 with blond hair and brown eyes. Very skinny girl, surprises me that she would even be a cop. The other guy was about 6 foot broader shoulders, sort of chunky like he has eaten a few too many dozen donuts.
“This is a weird time to be knocking on someone’s door don’t you think?” I said,
“We are sorry to disturb you. My name is Mr. Alfa, but you can call me Wayne” Said the man.
“And my name is Mrs. Flint, but you can call me Lynn, that is what the girls call me at the station. The funniest thing happened to me when I was hanging with…”
Wayne interrupted “Lynn we need to stay focused we have a murder on our hands, remember? Please sir, what is your name?”
“My name is Johnny,” I announced like if I didn’t I would be killed.
Wayne said, “Okay well Johnny, have you heard anything weird, like gun firing? There have been three calls from this side of the street. Apparently there was a man walking around with a pistol or Uzi both men that called weren’t sure which it was.”
“It was a Pistol, single shot.” I replied
“How would you know?” Lynn ask with a mean toned voice.
“The man must have b-b-broke into my h-h-h-house…” I stuttered to try to make the words sound clear.” I heard a gunshot in why sons room, luckily my wife is out of town this week or she would have flipped and we probably would have been the next to die.”
“Why don’t we go take a look at your son’s room, if you don’t mind,” Wayne said.
“O, please look at whatever you want in their” I gulped.
As we approached my son Steve’s room, my palms started to sweat. Did someone really do something to Steve? Is he still alive? How am I going to break it to Fran? Once we got to his room, we flipped on the light and all three of our jaws dropped pass the floor.
“Out of my 15 years of working with the New York police department, I have never ever seen anything this in my whole career, I though what some of the people looked like after 9-11 was bad, but this just beat that by a mile.” Wayne said scared and backing into Lynn.
“I think I’m going to be sick!” Lynn yelled as she ran for the front door to go puke.
There was blood on the walls. Guts on the bookshelf, brain parts from where he got shot on the bed, and last but not least, Steve’s body chopped in half on the floor. “Calling in commander, we have a 7416; yes a murder and we need a CSI group ASAP. Come on Johnny we better get you out of here and take you to the station for questioning.
