I was thinking about replacing my 32 bit version of Win7 to the 64 bit version. Is it worth it?

If you have over 4 gigs of ram and used like photoshop and other intensive programs, sure.

You'd have to reformat, though.
LP Forever
Would this be an intensive program?
redmonke
Why would you buy that if you already have iMovie?

I think you're defeating the purpose of your Mac...
LP Forever
well keep in mind imovie is only so good. plus i got win7 to solve the compatibility issues for something like this.

Ok, well if you're going for video editing, I'd go with Sony Vegas. That's what I use and it's really good for cheap.

Switching to 64-bit will mean:
--Your computer can handle more than 4GB of RAM
--Your computer is more secure (Microsoft have added a lot of technologies to 64-bit to increase the security and stability, such as Kernel Patch Protection)
--You may notice a speed boost, depending on what programs you use

Potential problems:
--You'll have to reformat
--Occasionally you may come across a 32-bit program that won't work, or you may not be able to find drivers

If you don't mind reformatting, I would recommend going 64-bit smile.gif

Why not run Final Cut Pro natively on your Mac then? That one almost looks beginner too; a bit above iMovie. Final Cut Pro is good if you're looking for a "professional editing" program. What kind of editing will you be doing? What activities, events, etc will be edited? You may not need all of this if it's something simple.

What are you doing making motion pictures? Unless your a professional their is no reason why you would need anything above vegas. =S
LP Forever
yes i'm going to be professionally editing.
let me put it this way... why spend $1000 on something when you can get something just as good or better for less than a 10th of the price.
EDIT: i had Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 recommended to me by another professional so...
redmonke
Looking at this, I'd stick with Corel. tongue.gif

finally someone on my side!

Only thing is that you spent all that money on a Mac and you're not really using it. pfft.gif

well i'm still going to use OS X quite a bit. but the same person who recommended coral kind of rigged it so i have to use Win7 anyway... but anyway i'm working on building a main comp next summer to run Win7 so this doesn't need to.

Oh, i remember Corel. Didn't they used to have the best photo editing software available? Haven't heard much from them since though...
