Yea so the Office 2010 beta is going on. I signed up and got an invitation. Anyone else get one?

If so, I have a question. Will 2010 upgrade my 2007? I'm kinda hesitant on doing this because my 2007 is just a trial that never actually expired aware.gif.

Now that I think about it, I may just install it on my other laptop that doesn't have Office. Hopefully it works, because:

Client Product Requirements

Upgrades

The Office client upgrade scenarios are as follows:

* A 32-bit 2007 Office system installation can be upgraded to 32-bit Office 2010.
* A 2007 Office system running on a 64-bit Windows operating system cannot be upgraded to 64-bit Office 2010.

My old laptop (which I sold about a month ago) had Office '10. I think a copy wasleaked or something. I got it off rapidshare. It was fine, but I don't really care which version I use as all are fine.
Topdog
So do you like it? tongue.gif

I think I'll get it someway or another, but I don't really care. I'm fine with my 2007 or any other version, as long as I can get my work done.

Meh, i'm still using Office 2003. I see no reason to upgrade. And yeah, i would use it on your laptop Red.

I don't get it, is the beta ONLY an upgrade? Because the info you posted suggests it is, so if your laptop doesn't have any version of Office on it, surely you won't be able to upgrade huh.gif I'm probably wrong, but that's what it looked like to me - if it's not just an upgrade, I would definitely install it on the laptop.

As for whether I shall use office 2010 - I probably won't try the beta, because having to use both 2003 and 2007 is confusing enough already (a third version would just be impossible tongue.gif), but when the full version is released I'll happily upgrade, seeing as I can get it free (MSDN subscriptions ftw ice.gif). I've only seen a couple of screenshots, but it looks good so far.

Just installed it on my other laptop that didn't have Office. Works fine. ice.gif

Office 2010 is awesome. biggrin.gif

Why do you need both if 2007 can save and read 2003 formats?

Office 2010 is awesome. biggrin.gif

I don't see any noticeable differences. ohmy.gif And I kind of miss the Vista bubble thing at the top-left.

I liked the vista button, but I never used it. The new tab is a lot more useful.

Don't get it.

It fudges up 2007.

OK good. Didn't want to take that chance in the first place. box.gif

I can't figure out when it expires, though. pfft.gif

I miss the darker navy blue background on Word too. I don't really like the white, it seems too much like 2003. tongue.gif

I use 2007 at home, but I am forced to use Office 2003 (along with XP and IE7 *sigh*) at school sad.gif

I might give this beta a go on my Win7 Rc.

You should feel lucky, we use office 2000, IE6 on some computer, IE7 on others (Still mainly IE6 being used) sad.gif. Most of our computers have XP (Some even have vista) but we get access to practically nothing out of XP, we might as well be running 98 >_<
