You always hear: Never download anything off the internet! It's dangerous!
Well, I just downloaded the Vista taskbar and Win7 theme for my Windows XP. Of course, I scanned the files before I downloaded them. They were clean. I installed them, and scanned them again. Again, clean. So, I applied it. It is now running perfectly.

The truth of the matter is, sometimes you actually can trust people. Not always, in fact, never trust anyone, unless you are 110% sure. But really, there are some good people in this world (I don't think I count), who are actually doing honest things.

So, name a time when on a computer you weren't sure about something (I.E. your computer was broken and someone helped you fix it, or a friend sent you a program you were looking for) on your computer, and it actually worked out.

Please don't say that I actually do have a virus now that I downloaded that. I have scanned every file on my computer, inside and out.

Well, when my computer crashed a while back (a couple days ago, I'm sure red remembers), he told me to keep pushing in on the RAM slot. It wasn't working, until I found out I was putting the RAM in something else. So, thank you red.

How about you? (Please note: This is for computer issues in general that were resolved, that is why it is going here).

I don't believe anyone has told me to not download anything off of the internet. Where do you expect me to download things from?

I never really had anyone to help me out with computer related stuff, so I was forced to teach myself. *sob sob*. tongue.gif

You download things off the internet right now..
Because the internet is all about requesting the site, and you download it, and it gets stored on your computer.
So, if you cant download anything from the internet, you cant USE the internet. cheers.gif

I have never actually been careful with downloading.. tongue.gif
Because i know that avast! scans every new file for me.. biggrin.gif

@redmonke: I had the same situation as you.

Sure small packets of information are being temporarily downloaded, but that's a bit different. tongue.gif

Although when people say downloading anything is bad, they've probably been brainwashed into stupid, non-logical thinking. I try to prove them wrong, but I can't. sad.gif

1 thing to do is making sure the site is secure.
Like, you dont want to go to a random advertisement from google that tells about an app you might be looking for.
I notice that it happens at the advertisement at the bottom of the page, which i think is the Google-bot? rolleyes.gif

Its not so safe to trust Google's ads, you never know what can hide on the refered site.. box.gif
