In a far away area of the universe, there are three main races (Though those are only the main ones. You can make up your own race, if you want.). A group of explorers are passing by a planet, when their ship stops responding correctly. They crash on the uninhabited planet (Uninhabited by sentient life, that is. Or is it?), though it was habited once, but was abandoned. Then the explorers start heading towards an abandoned communications post, which they hope they'll be able to get working. On the way, they have to survive being attacked by strange creatures native to the planet, but they'll soon have to face something even worse...
Areng - The arengs are a race of super strong humanoids. Their entire bodies are covered head to toe in spiky, bony plating (Which means they don't have hair), which act as armor, and their eyes are red. They also have great hearing and the ability to sense vibrations better than most other creatures. Arengs prefer to use force and brute strength in battle. To overpower their opponents.
Allig - The alligs are a race of super intelligent humanoids. They're even more intelligent than most super computers. They have glowing white crystals in the middles of their foreheads, black skin, and black eyes. And they do have hair, unlike the Areng and the Aecisi. They are telekinetic and telepathic. They can also see all the colors of the spectrum, including ones humans can't see. They also have the abilities to sense both electromagnetic fields and heat. Alligs prefer to use brain power and knowledge in battle, to outsmart their opponents.
Aecisi - Aecisii are a race of agile, flexible humanoids. Instead of hair, they have tendrils that sprout from their heads, which reach down to at least their shoulders, and which are at least half an inch in diameter. They have blue skin and glowing blue eyes, too. Aecisii are superiorly agile and flexible, and they prefer to use precision in battle.
You would be one of the explorers. Now, here's the application form.

Name: Ackell
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Race: Areng
Appearance: Just like the race description says. Except that his bony plates are black, which is highly unusual.
History (Optional): Was born on a planet called Torron, and his parents were killed when he was just a small child when a group of allig pirates attacked. He then turned to a life of crime to survive with no parents. Eventually, he was drafted into the areng military, where he was eventually captured by allig pirates. Then a group of allig soldiers sprung him and several other prisoners of war free, and Ackell no longer held a grudge against the alligs, which he did before. Eventually, he made a career of treasure hunting, and he bought a ship later on called the
Hunter. He recruited several other explorers, and he recently was in the crash of the Hunter into an
uninhabited planet.
Equipment: Blue shorts with the logo of a dragon's head on it (Yes, dragons are in the aliens' mythology, but they don't actually exist.). He carries a big gun which shoots blue plasmic energy from it (Which he carries strapped to his leg.). He also carries a huge, two-handed sword on his back. If you press a button on the handle, a mechanism in the handle super heats the sword's blade to such a level that it can cut through almost anything, while not harming the blade.
Abilities/Powers: Not really much except the normal super strength his race has. Is also a good archaeologist and treasure hunter.

As you stated in the intro, I have introduced dwarves to the roleplay, though with a few improvisations.
Dwarves - Although quite short, almost always below 5'0, the dwarves are a fierce bunch. Their intelligence is not as advanced as the Allig, but it has enabled them to keep up with modern technology and to build plasma-powered weapons. They live usually at the foot of and within the mountains. Because of their habitats, the dwarves have learned to fight together to combat unwanted visitors.
Although the dwarves use axes for close combat, plasma rifles have become more popular in the military and within the civilian population. The energy within the rifles are powered by cartridges that are manufactured within the factories of the mountains. These energy bars serve to power lights, communication radios, and the weapon itself.
Name: Leo Crimson
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Race: Dwarf
Appearance: 4'7, light chainmail, a leather hauberk over mail, leather boots, leather gloves, a green cloak
History (Optional): Leo was born on a planet known as Arojma. He was raised up by the governor of the dwarven lands after his parents were killed by an avalanche. Joining the Guardians of the Mountains at the age of 25, Leo was soon conscripted into a secret training operation known as Treadstone.
One day, after undergoing a covert mission to assassinate a rebel dwarf, Leo was wounded twice in the leg. Managing to make it to a nearby base Dwarven base, he reported the location of the rebel and then passed out.
Since then, Leo has worked as a freelance bounty hunter, tracking down disturbers of the peace and restoring order to multiple lands.
Equipment: Crimson usually has a black-bladed battleaxe slung on his back when not used. In large battles, he wields a custom-built plasma rifle made by the dwarven authorities. Abilities/Powers: As well as possessing more-than-average dwarf strength, Leo is quite a good marksman, due to his upbringing.Scorpion, if you wanna make edits to the race, go ahead.

Dwarves in a sci-fi RP? Jeez Leo, you seem obsessed.

Might as well give this one a try too
Name: Nyrta
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Aecisi
Appearance: Nyrta has a strange, mesmerizing beauty. She stands at about 1.80 meters and has a slender build. She wears tight a tight, leather, shoulderless top (a sort of corset) and tight black leather pants. Her tendrils go halfway down her back.
History (Optional): Several years ago, Ackell found her on one of his first expeditions. Still a small girl, she was running around the ruins Ackell was exploring, though when asked about it she wasn't able to answer how she got there or what she was doing there. Ackell took her back to his ship and over the past few years raised her as his own daughter. She is now the youngest member of his crew, yet also one of the most valuable.
Equipment: She has a small dagger strapped to her thigh and various throwing stars on her belt. Her hands and feet are her weapons of choice though.
Abilities/Powers: As an Aecisi, she uses speed and agility to close in on enemies and strike them down with a single hit. Nyrta is also an excellent martial artist.

OoC: Accepted.
IC: Ackell sat at the control station. It was on auto pilot. Right now, he was reading recent news on the database. Soon, however, the planet Efehin, long abandoned by sentient life, came into view. Ackell wistled, then said, "What a sight! Imagine, this planet's on the edge of the system. Not many people come here. I wonder how much the archive masters would pay for pictures?" and then he took the controls and started easing towards Efehin.
Soon, he was pretty close, but Ackell wanted to get closer, so he got close enough that the planet's edges would reach the edges of the camera's lens. Then, he started pressing a button on the control picture, which took pictures of what the camera saw. Ackell was admiring the view, acquiring pictures for money in the process.
That's when everything went horribly wrong.
Suddenly, the screens went black, and when Ackell tried to take the control to get away from the planet, the controls didn't respond. Then he said, "Damn! The control's aren't responding!"
And the ship was caught in the planet's gravitational pull, so it started easing towards the planet. No matter what he did, Ackell couldn't fix the controls, and pretty soon the ship had gained a good amount of momentum. It was racing towards the planet's surface. Ackell screamed, "Hang on to anything that's fixed to the ship!" to the crew. Then the anti-gravity turned off, and everything that wasn't fixed to the ship flew to the back of it. Ackell had to dodge some of it so he wouldn't get hurt.
Then, he pushed his feet off of the ship's front and jumped, trying to grab onto the door frame of the door that led to the back part of the ship, to no success. He tried again, this time barely managing to do it. Then he pulled himself into the other room, stood up, with effort, and grabbed a lever that was on the back wall. Then he pulled it, and a gigantic parachute shot out the back of the ship's outside.
Ackell said, "Luckily, the shields are still on. Let's hope the combination of that and the parachute will keep us alive. Brace yourse-" but he was interrupted as the ship hit something solid, but Ackell kept going, and he smashed through the ship's windshield, then rolled across the ground a few feet from the ship, before blacking out.
He woke up not long after, pulled himself to his feet, then stumbled towards the ship to make sure that the others were alright...

IC: During the crash, Leo had been reading some charts of nearby planets. Glancing out the window, he noted the unique planet the ship was nearing by. at that exact moment, something happened.
The next thing he knew, Leo was lying on the floor of the cabin. Cursing, he soon realized that the ship had lost control and landed on the unknown planet. I hope everyone else is ok. Grabbing his gun, Leo slung his axe across his back and kicked open the emergency window hatch. Climbing out, he found Ackell walking towards the downed transport.
"You ok?" asked Leo. His friend looked a bit dazed, in his opinion. Must have taken a big hit.

"Well, I haven't gotten any permanent damage, but I'm still a little off-balance. I'm glad you're okay, Leo, but is Nyrta okay?" said Ackell as he put his hand on Leo's shoulder. "I wonder what the hell caused that? Nothing I've ever experienced."

Looking back, Leo did not see their fellow passenger Nyrta come out. "If we could survive this, so can she," he assured Scorpion.
"Maybe the planet had a boost in gravity and pulled us down. Or we were shot; those are the only 2 explanations I can think of," suggested the dwarf. "Wherever we are, we better set up camp. Is your transmitter working?"
Scorpion
Jul 19 2009, 04:33 PM
"I'll check." said Ackell, and he went inside the ship. He looked for Nyrta, but he didn't see her. He only assumed she was okay. Then he tried getting the transmitter to work, but to no avail. Then he got his tools and started taking apart the the ship's control panel. He took the ship's motherboard and took a diagnostic of it. Luckily, the diagnostics machine was still whole. The board had no viruses.
At least not any cybernetic ones. The strangest thing was there. When he looked at the microscoptic pictures of the board, he could see small microbes attached to the board. Further diagnostics revealed that the microbes were screwing up the motherboard. How, though, was unclear. Ackell cursed, then went back out to Leo and told him about the viruses he found on the motherboard.

Looking down from her vantage point on top of the crashed ship, she saw two figures down below and realised both her friends were awake again. A smile appeared on her face. She slid down the steepest part of the ship with ease and, without breaking her momentum, leapt up into the sky. After performing a needless somersault she just wanted to show off with, she landed safely a few feet from both men. Without even brushing the dust of her clothes, she ran towards Ackell and Leo. The unsuspecting men turned to see what that strange noise was, when Nyrta ran right into Ackell's arms.
"I'm so glad you're awake again!" Letting go of Ackell, she kissed the dwarf on the cheek. "I was pretty worried about you guys, lying there unconscious and all."
Regaining her composure, Nyrta continued in her usual, more serious tone: "Forgive me for not waking you, but when I realised I was the first to regain conscience, I thought it was more important to first scout the surrounding area a bit. I figured you guys would wake up soon enough and that it was better to make sure no creatures or anything were in the vicinity. Speaking of creatures, were lucky we can even breathe here!" She curiously looked at the sky above.
Looking back at the men, she addressed Ackell: "So Captain, I believe you were about to say something?"

Jul 19 2009, 08:01 PM
A bit confused by the contact, Leo merely cleared his throat, smiled slightly and turned back to Ackell. "Microbes? You think that's what's screwing up our communications?" he asked seriously. Now rather concerned, the dwarf looked around at their surroundings and the unknown planet. Readying his gun, Leo kept his guard up.
"What do we know about this planet, Ackell? Any dangerous species or civilizations?"
Scorpion
Jul 20 2009, 09:08 PM
"Not only that, Leo, but the entire ship went down because of those microbes. I'm not exactly sure what they've done to the ship, but it can't be good. As for this planet, its name is Efehin. It once was inhabited by sentient life, but it was abandoned long ago. As for the creatures, no one's really sure what lives here, but the whole planet's covered in jungles and seas."
As if to answer the question about the creatures that lived on Efehin, darts flew out of nowhere and hit Ackell. Most of them just bounced off his bony armor, but one of them hit the fleshy soft spot between the bony plates, and Ackell said, "Damn." and fell over, unconscious. Then a creature jumped out of the jungle. It looked like a weasel, except that it had scales, it didn't have ears, and it had a long tail with quill-like darts at the end. It started going after the others, using its teeth and claws and darts which would cause people to faint, like Ackell.
Leo Crimson
Jul 20 2009, 09:25 PM
Cursing, Leo readied his weapon and aimed it at the beast. Seeing him preparing to fight, it launched itself at the dwarf, teeth sharp and ready to bite. Darts flew at Leo, but he maintained concentration on the beast.
Pressing the trigger, he sprayed it with multiple plasma shots, forcing it back. Screaming in pain, the weasel-like creature attacked again, its claws ready to scratch.
Firing again, Leo hit it dead center in the head with the butt of his weapon, then kicked the unconscious thing aside. Kneeling beside Ackell, he pressed 2 fingers to his throat. "He's definitely alive," said Leo to Nyrta. "Hopefully, that dart wasn't poisonous."
Daimonius
Jul 21 2009, 06:29 AM
"Hmhmm" replied Nyrta, only barely registering what Leo said. Instead, she approached the unconscious creature. Softly talking to herself, she said: "What a strange creature this is...Unlike anything I ever saw." Speaking up, she addressed the dwarf. "I'm glad you didn't kill it, we'll need any information we can get about this planet and its...'inhabitants'. Let's take both of them inside, it's only a matter of time before one of them wakes up."
As Leo threw the unconscious Ackell over his shoulder and carefully carried him inside, while Nyrta grabbed the creatures tail, carefully avoiding the darts, and dragged it through the dust after her as she followed after the dwarf.
Once inside, they took both bodies to the infirmary. Ackell was gently put on one of the tables, while the creature was strapped down on one, making sure it wouldn't wake up and escape...or worse. As Leo looked after Ackell, Nyrta began processing the creature for any useful information. She searched all known databases for anything even slightly resembling this strange creature, but to no avail.
Next, she broke one of the creature's dart-like extensions from its tail. The creature bled a strange green substance, but it seemed as if the wound healed almost instantly. She started an analysis of the dart and the strange poison that seemed to be dripping from it, trying to find out what it was that left Ackell incapacitated with a single hit.
Like you said, Leo. Hopefully, it wasn't poisonous."

Strangely, Ackell wasn't unconscious. He was just paralyzed. He knew exactly what was going on around him, but he couldn't move any of his muscles. He didn't get the chance to tell the others the most disturbing news he had about the microbes on the motherboard. And he couldn't say anything, so he couldn't tell them not to go back in the ship.
Slowly, though, he got feeling in his muscles back, and he tried to talk, but it was gibberish at first. Eventually, though, he could speak normally, though when he tried to move, he was off-balance. He said, "We have to get out of this ship. I didn't get the chance to tell you, the microbes are growing. I don't know how, but they feed off the electronics in this ship, and they're slowly growing, splitting, and combining.
I think they're turning into a much larger creature, and they're growing at a very quick and exponential pace. Who knows what they'll turn into. We have to get out of here." and he started to walk out the door, but turned around and grabbed the weasel-like creature and then walked out. When he got to the next room, he could see that the electronics in the ship were all covered in slimy-looking tendrils which pumped up and down, in and out as if they were breathing. He grabbed the diagnostics machine, which seemed unaffected, for whatever reason, and exited the ship, the two others following after, then got at a safe distance, turned, and looked at the ship, which was being covered in the tendrils slowly and surely.

Nyrta's eyes big with disbelief, she saw how the only place she ever called home and their only way off this damned planet was being covered by... something. A single tear escaped her eye, and she turned her head away from the gruesome sight and towards her captain, who was trying to tie the creature's arms and legs.
Still not quite having regained his fine motor skills, the captain was having trouble tieing knots.
"Here captain, let me do it." Nyrta kneeled besides the creature and half pushed Ackell aside. Her skillful hands quickly made several knots, capable of tightening themselves should the creature struggle too much, and just in time too. As Nyrta tied the final knot, the creature started to move. In a sudden burst of movement, it tried lashing out with its claws and tail at Nyrta. Startled, she staggered back a few feet, when she realised the creature couldn't hurt her. The creature seemed to realise the same and writhed in the dust, trying to free itself, while hissing at her and her companions.
Nyrta swallowed the last bit of anxiety and spoke up. "Captain, our guest is awake."

Ackell sighed, then said, "We shouldn't keep this thing captive." and then he cut its bounds, and the creature scurried off into the jungle, screeching along the way. Then Ackell turned and walked to the ship and ripped off one of the tendrils, for analysis. Bad move. The ground shook, and then one of the larger tendrils shot out and slammed into Ackell's chest, causing him to fly backwards into a tree. Luckily, he was fine.
He grunted, then got up and put the ripped tendril in a specimen jar. Then he walked to the others and gathered up all the stuff he had in a single pack, which he slung on his back. Then he took out a digital map, then said, "Alright. The nearest building is north of here. It's a broken down communications station, but maybe we can get it working." and with that, Ackell started heading north, the two others in tow.

Jul 21 2009, 05:19 PM
Nyrta, furious about the captain's decision to release the creature, didn't move.
"CAPTAIN!" she yelled at him, since he was already moving north, "what the hell?! We don't know if it was even slightly intelligent! What if it comes back with more of its kind to hunt us down? Did you even consider that as a possibility? If anything, I wanted to study it to find out how I can use its poison as a weapon! No, you want to study stupid tendrils instead of something potentially useful!"
Scorpion
Jul 21 2009, 05:31 PM
Ackell sighed, then stopped, then said, "And how long would it take you to make such a weapon? Too long. The longer we stay here, the more likely we'll be attacked by something worse than the scaly weasel. We can't risk staying here and researching weapons. We have to get to that communications outpost. The only reason I took the tendril was to see if I could fix the ship some way. If you think that creature was dangerous, wait 'til the sun goes down. The most dangerous creatures come out at night. I don't want to wait that long. I want to get off this damned planet before sundown."
Leo Crimson
Jul 21 2009, 07:17 PM
Grimacing, Leo knew that Nyrta had the right idea about using the strange poison for a potential weapon to use for defense, but what Ackell said about keeping the creature free was also a good cause. It's a lose-stay out of harm situation.
"Right now, I think having a new weapon shouldn't be the top priority," he said slowly. "I've got a few, which should help us until we reach the northern place. Once we make contact, we can get a ship to come rescue us. Then we can think about researching this."
Daimonius
Jul 22 2009, 04:57 AM
Ackell's words made sense.
"Ofcourse captain," she said, bowing her head in shame, "I should've known better than to question your judgement. Our first priority is ofcourse getting off this planet, back to civilization. Lead the way."

"It doesn't matter right now." said Ackell, and he continued on, the other two following. Eventually, the planet's sun reached the peak of the sky, and then Ackell and the others stopped to rest. Then he took out a canteen of water, then drank some, passed it to the others to drink, and when it came back to him, he realized it was empty. He sighed, then got up and said, "We've got to go find some water. Hopefully, this planet has some. Anyone want to volunteer?" said Ackell, holding up the canteen.

Nyrta and Leo looked at each other in an awkward silence, unsure what to say. She was the first to speak: "Captain, I reckon the jungle would have some sort of water source, otherwise such elaborate plant life wouldn't be possible. The only problem with that is that we might run into more creatures." She looked at Ackell and Leo, and continued, "and taking that into account, do you really think splitting up is a good idea?"
Scorpion
Jul 23 2009, 01:02 PM
Ackell turned to Nyrta and said, "I didn't expect the one who would have to get the water would have to go very far to find some. But if you think we should go find some together, then I guess we should. As for your previous statement, I highly disagree with you. The organisms on this planet may not need water at all. Maybe they use a different sort of substance to survive. Maybe water is a poison to them. Maybe the creatures breath carbon dioxide and the plants absorb oxygen. Maybe these," Ackell said, pointing to one of the plant-like things, "Aren't even plants. Maybe they're a new type of organism. Maybe the organisms on this planet don't have carbon-based DNA. Maybe it's nitrogen-based or even titanium-based. Or maybe they don't have DNA at all. Anyway, there's no way for us to tell. We can't stay here and study them." said Ackell as he stood up. "Let's all go find some water, and if we can't find any, we'll just keep moving towards the communications station."

Jul 23 2009, 04:27 PM
He was right. She compared the strange environment too much to the things she knew, ignoring the fact that this planet was nothing like their homeland. Nyrta made a new resolve for herself: she wouldn't take anything on this planet for granted, nor be deceived by the appearance of things around her.
Following the captain's orders, Nyrta looked around in search of water. Nothing that even resembled a source of water was visible in the vicinity. She stated to climb a nearby dune, wondering if the higher ground would give her new insights. As she reached the top of the small dune, she looked around once more.
There!
In the distance, conveniently in the direction they were heading, Nyrta could see the glittering of the sun's reflection.

Once Nyrta had come back and reported of the pool of liquid, the three got ready and started heading off again. Eventually, they came to a rather thick part of the jungle, but they pressed on towards the pool of liquid.
Suddenly, they came to a clearing, where the pool of liquid was, which Ackell noticed looked exactly like water, whether is was or wasn't. That's not the first thing he noticed, however. What he noticed immediately was a group of people, yes, people, going about their own business, in a militaristic camp. All the people there were covered head to toe in dark green clothing and armor. Immediately after noticing Ackell and the others, the guards pointed their weapons at them.
Ackell put his hands up and frantically started saying, "No! Don't fire! We crashed on this planet and now we-" but the guards began firing. Ackell then pushed the others into the jungle brush as he also jumped in. Then Ackell peered into the clearing, and he heard one of the strange people, likely the commander, shout orders, and some of the guards began moving towards the jungle brush where Ackell had jumped in, weapons at the ready. Ackell and the others then began running away, immediately.

IC: Readying his rifle, Leo ducked as multiple bursts of plasma began flying over their heads. Hearing approaching footsteps, he felt a tackle and was shoved into a tree. Losing control of his weapon, the dwarf elbowed his pursuer in the face, wriggled from his grasp and grabbed his axe.
Getting up, the guard held his bleeding nose. "Stop!" he cried out. Deciding against it, Leo kicked him in the chest then finished it off with a mighty smash to the chest.
The scream echoed throughout the forest, sending birds flying in all directions.
Sighing, Leo followed after the others. That was subtle, he cursed.
