Full Version: Bounty +1 item worlds

Neo Avatars
THIS ISNT LIVE YET, THIS IS WHAT WE ARE PLANNING TO DO.

We are proposing to make 3 of the existing bounty worlds
(18,32 and 65), worlds where when you die you ALWAYS keep 1 item.

You still won't be able to use 'protect item' on those worlds, (so we still avoid the problem with the number of items being kept being variable which was breaking the risk calculations, which is what we were originally aiming to do). Instead you just ALWAYS keep one item on death on those worlds. This should mean that items like godswords, dragon claws etc.. can then still be safely used on those worlds.

I hope this helps people who prefer that style of gameplay. E.g. you will be able to CHOOSE your style of PvP gameplay and hopefully everyone will be happy. E.g. if you don't like 1 iteming and want to fight with dragon scimitars etc, at mage bank etc... you will be able to use one type of world, and if you want to use your high power weapons that you've saved up for you can use a different world and do that too.

The options will be:

PvP worlds (lose all items on death, no protect item)
Bounty worlds (lose all items on death, no protect item)
Bounty+1 worlds (keep 1 item on death, no protect item).

This is just a proposal so far. What do you think?

It doesn't delete the reason for the change.

The reason for the change was slightly complex and was to do with being able to build up drop-potential without really risking anything. (which ultimately is what is causing the 26k problems).

This change still doesn't revert that fix. (because on a keep 1 item world, because you ALWAYS keep 1 item, you will have to risk an extra 75k an ADDITION to that one item).

It's a bit complex. I'll see if I can get a dev diary put together which:
a) explains the reasons for the original change. (quite mathematical)
b) explains the reasons for THIS change, and why it still maintains the goals of the first change (basically we realised/remembered that we should also factor in the human element and not JUST look at the maths)
c) what we are planning on doing next.

There are lot of reasons, and it gets a bit mathematical, and I think a dev diary is probably the best way of explaining everything.

"Do we always keep our MOST valuable item or is it random "

-----

It will basically work as if you always had Protect Item on, so it will protect the most valuable item as far as shop values go.

"If you read this thread, the Mod Bennys Thread - you will see that the ENTIRE update on the 15th was a waste of time.

These +1 item worlds will not just mean the update is null.

So all the reasons Mod Benny explain are circumnavigated by +1 worlds.

I agree it the PvP update was foolish and ill thought out, but there WAS a problem that needed fixing, now we are back to square 1"

-----

There will still be worlds that use the system as it was changed to on Wednesday. When these changes go live, we will have two Bounty +1 Worlds and two regular Bounty Worlds on members' and one Bounty +1 World on free-to-play. The normal PvP Worlds will remain unaffected and you won't be able to protect any items there.

"for the love of God andrew you do have a brain in there, Taking away no pro item was the worse mistake you made, how long will this take to come in? weeks ? months ?"

-----

It should be ready today, unless something unexpected pops up.

"So all the tricks that the removal of Pro item where intended to fix will now take part on the +1 worlds???"

-----

On the +1 Worlds, you will not be able to choose whether or not to protect one item, as it will always be protected, so the trick in being able to go from high risk to low risk by activating the prayer will not be possible. But the other aspects of the game that made more risky (or impossible) with the removal of the Protect Item prayer will be possible here, such as one-iteming or using godswords or dragon claws without risking them.

Yes, we are aware that Smite will no longer be able to be used to counter act Protect Item, but this is not something we're planning to change at the moment as it is a fairly minor issue in the bigger scope of things. It is definitely something we keep in mind, though.
