So I just got the newest version of Safari just because I felt like it... And I know that I have a rep as a Google Chrome devotee, but I seriously think that this new Safari is a shameless rip-off of Chrome... They have the "Favorite Sites" grid upon opening... They eliminated the Taskbar and instead replaced it with two drop down buttons containing all the browser options. There is a new bookmark button at the left of the address bar, which was the same as Chrom also... You can move the tabs in a sliding motion, like Chrome now - it used to look like you dragged the entire page even if you only dragged the tab horizontally.

I don't really mind it copying Chrome all that much - now I have more reason to use Safari - but I just find it's funny that the way it copies it is shameless xd.gif

Safari is the only browser I have ever used that can suck up 500mb of RAM just operating and can take down a dual core just by running RS HD and loading other pages....

Btw you should of saw the beta with the tabs on top it was a carbon copy of Chrome...

I thought the whole 'favourite sites' thing, was actually down to Opera. They were the first ones I was ever aware of. It does look like a bit of a copy, but that's what you get when you share your coding with the world. At least Google have that sort of decency. Overall though, looks aren't what is supposed to the main feature. Do you think it runs better than chrome? I don't tongue.gif!

As Emo_Nemo said, Safari uses WAAAYYYYY too many resources. It's the most resource-intensive browser I've ever used by a significant amount. That said, on a sufficiently powerful computer, it does load pages quite fast - in my experience slightly better than Chrome and bordering on Opera's speed - and the graphical effects such as Cover Flow are nice. That's still not going to stop me using Chrome though, I've been a devotee ever since the Chrome 2 beta came out tongue.gif

On a Windows OS, Safari uses way too much RAM and slows down the computer. Chrome is better. On a Mac OS, Safari uses barely any RAM, the pages load about 3 times faster than Chrome and the graphics are enhanced. Safari is better. So on my computer I use Chrome. On my MacBook I use Safari.

+1. On a Mac, Safari is easily the best. It also leads in some Web standards, too (Acid test comes to mind). I love using Safari on my MacBook. If I ever use Windows I will use whatever browser is on there. As you can guess, I rarely go into Windows now, and I don't have my own Windows machine anymore.

I haven't used Chrome too much lately, but it's hard not to copy these days. If an idea works, use it. And I still have my Safari 4 set up the same as Safari 3 so I don't experience any of the new changes, and I've disabled any other ones that are new in 4. I just get the speed boost.

Safari is only good on a Mac (probably because it was originally coded for mac tongue.gif). It's easily the lightest browser for them.
Chrome is nice, but Windows-only for now sad.gif.

No, there's a PITA version of Chrome for Mac. It's basically a developer-only version - a very early Beta it seems. Not to be used for regular web browsing. But steps are being made to have a Mac version now. When it arrives I may try it, but I just love Safari too much. tongue.gif

Exactly, if you love Safari, you'll be amazed by Chrome tongue.gif

I've never used Firefox/Chrome, I stick to my Safari on my Macbook (the old one, not the new flashy one biggrin.gif I'm pointing a finger at you Micron) and it works fine.

I have used nearly every browser in existence, and out of them all, I prefer Safari. My computer is really powerful, so even though it does suck up a lot of resources it runs really fast and smoothly. On my computer Safari's faster than any other browser I've used.
