Well, here is an isometric symmetrical pixelation of my Runescape characters head. I don't really know anything about pixeling. The one bane to starting any piece for me is getting the shape down, but as for shading I think I am OK... probably a little sub-par. That's what I think, though I will let you be the judge.

The eye looks a little (Ok quite a bit) over saturated, and the head looks a little squashed and wide. Ok for a first though smile.gif

Head is quite fat.
needs some shading on the bandana.
He needs ears pfft.gif
That line under his eye is disturbing.
Needs less black outline.

This isn't Isometric.
Caboose
Yeah, i know what you mean about doing the outline. If only i could be bothered to buy a graphics tablet...

But really good first try, although you might want to do it from an angle next time, and as others have said the head is fatter than the one in your sig.

So you're saying I should make the temples more closed inwards?
I did shade it to some extent, although elaborating how I should do it would help.
I suppose your saying that the ears are too small.
Only the outside of the image has a black outline. Unless you are hinting towards using no black outline at all.

Sorry... symmetrical was the word I was looking for (got a huge headache).

I have de-saturated the eyes, though when I make the head have less width it just looks weird.

I'll try working on it to satisfy your needs. Like I said though, my abilitys are pretty limited and I need FEEDBACK on how to do what you feel needs improvements.

Edit:

This does look a lot better. Thanks for the feedback!

That's actually pretty good for a first, although no black outline at all would be better.

What I meant about sharding the bandana was giving it a light source-- you already given it a pattern and texture--but how is the light hitting it as it wraps around his head?

He has ears now-- but they still need to be bigger.

And completely remove outlines from it-- makes it flow much better.

The eye is a bit big-- infact almost the wrong shape.
i'll post an example in a few.

EDIT:

that's about the shape I make my eyes--and remember--the eye isn't fully open-so the top bit of the pupil is covered by the lid.

edit--here's a head I did a while bad--for reference or w/e.

Alright, I appreciate your help... I understand more, but it is quite hard to achieve the shading on the bandanna with the stripes in there...

Here is another version, hopefully erasing the outline makes the ears appear at the right size.

I really shouldn't be doing this at the moment with such a huge headache, aspirin didn't help. slanty.gif

Everything else is fine though right? Would you say if I had proper training I would be okay?

Very good for a first biggrin.gif
There's certainly better out there--but you're about the only person on these forums that put effort and listened to CC on their first pixel.

Here, you sir, deserve a cookie.(specifically--my cookie award, which I just made up--goes to anyone who does something that impresses me I suppose.)
Dr Pepper
How is that isometric?

That looks a hundred times better.. keep it up zynk.

Wow. All I can say is that that's 10x better than I could EVER do.

I get to lazy and go into Photoshop...

Again, It's excellent; however, what's that gray thing under his eye?
Legend
I see dithering, I see AA. This is a great start.

I would say the head could use more contrast to define it's shape better. I would also apply AA to more of the lines, rather than just the eye-patch.

Solid pixel. Goob job. smile.gif
Caboose
Yes, it is good. I prefer the eyes you did before though, not these ones. Dithering doesn't really work. Apart from that, it's not symmetrical either. It's just a pixel...
prediter45
thats pretty awesome

the eyebrow seems oddly angled
Doomsicle
Great for a first. You really got some of the basics down. You give the face more shape and make the different planes like on the cheek more visible. Just work on colors and contrast as well as a bit of AA for now, but it's solid.

I have no idea how to AA and I read somewhere that using AA is not true pixeling (probably not a reliable source anyways).

I don't use Photoshop; I use Paint Shop Pro7. Don't know if it makes a difference in the procedure of AAing though I am sure it does.

Doing AA by hand-- is pixeling.
Having a program that automatically AAs-- is not.

If you use a program, and draw a line, and it automatically AA's, that's not true pixelling. Doing it yourself would be.

Not sure what paint shop pro is like so I don't know what to say about that. If you do have Photoshop or something, try adjusting colors a bit.
