DON'T FALL OFF
A Freestyle Grandstyle Uber Roleplay by Ellibereth, Aliath, Erebus, Silavor, Tempest, Rene, and Sacred. IC Only Thread!!!

The world? It’s a disc. A Disc floating in the sky fizzing around like a massive Frisbee. Who knows where it came from? Only the Creators do. But who knows what they’re thinking. In the end it doesn’t really matter does it? Life goes on the world, but just remember, about the edge, Don’t Fall Off!

I hear you, you’re asking about the name. People have different thoughts on that, the scholars have different thoughts on it, and the debates have been going on for centuries. Well, just remember this, the Name, along with everything else in this universe, is whatever you want to think of it as.

Due to this roleplay being in a Grand-style universe, taking place in multiple fronts, and having more than one storyline, there will be two topics. One will be for IC’s exclusively. That is this topic. The other will be posted with the title, “Don’t Fall Off, Applications, Q&A, and OoC”. That topic will be for applying, any questions and any OoC’s. OoC’s will NOT be done in this roleplay thread.

Finally, I would like to thank and applaud Aliath for starting this idea and everyone else for working so hard on it, especially Erebus who did the entire map by himself. This roleplay would not be the way it is now without a single one of you. (Well, maybe except for Sacred).

Now we get to the portion where we explain the workings of this world itself. Not all information will be presented at once. For now (as of topic creation date), only major location descriptions and few other descriptions will be there. Over time, as the roleplay grows and progresses, the other information will be added. These updates will be noted in the OoC topic. We wouldn’t want to spoil any of the surprises that are in store!

The OoC Thread can be found here http://runescape.salmoneus.net/forums/inde...howtopic=291591

The information about the world will not be presented in the normal way. Rather, the segments below are “part” of books or tomes from this Universe. The observant reader may be able to decipher the author of each the segments, but for now, enough talk!

Map of the World, found by Historians in the Masal Desert. By the great artist known as Erebus.

Masal Desert
The Masal desert is a large expanse of desert on the western coast of the world. It is a harsh land with very few cities although Myr the largest of these cities might just be the largest city in the entire world. Masal is bordered on three sides by the ocean, and a mountain rage to the east which cuts it off from the main body of the continent. The Pass of Caramas is the only readily accessible pass in the entire mountain range and is heavily defended by the city of Myr. In total the Region of Masal is huge, from the tip of the peninsula to the Starakas Mountains is almost five hundred kilometers of desert. Only three rivers dot the landscape, one of which flows through Myr and is the reason for the city’s prosperity. The entire region is connected by a series of roads built into the sand, the roads are maintained throughout the year and small outposts dot the landscape as one travels along the roads.

Cities/Towns
There are only five cities in the entire with Myr being the only non port city and Kael the only city not near a river.
Myr: The main city in the region and the Capitol of the region Myr is a gigantic city built around an acient spire of rock. The spire is now a Large citadel which has a Minas Tirith feel to it but is made entirely of sandstone. The cities population is a little over ten million which makes it ridiculously huge for a city and this population is only possible due to the fertile floodplains to the north, south and east of the city which grow crops that normally take an entire year to grow in a couple months and at the end of the crop cycles the river Myri floods the plains covering them in rich soil.
Myr is built on a terraced hill, and as you head deeper into the city you are constantly climbing uphill. It is home to some of the most ingenious plumbing in the world, and a huge network of sewers runs underneath the city providing water and plumbing to all but the poorest of sections. The streets of the city are a network of sandstone cobblestones and only some of the outer roads aren’t paved. 13 walls protect the city, each one larger than the one before it and hundreds of thousands of city guardsmen man the walls at all times of the year.
The city is ruled by an emperor who leaves the daily affairs of the city to a council of magistrates who manage certain sections of the city.
Kael: Kael is a small town of a few hundred Denizens on the northern coast of the Masal desert only around thirty kilometers from the Starakas Mountains. It is mostly a trader city and lacks walls of any kind.
Syrik: Syrik could essentially be labeled as the port for Myr although they are separated by almost one hundred kilometers along the length of the Myri. Goods heading to and from Myr pass through this town of about five thousand people making it the second largest city in the Masal region.
Kimbla: Is yet another port city at the mouth of the Kimli river in the north of the region. Its population is around two thousand.
Hymryr: is a city of about four thousand to the southwest of the region. It is a moderate sized fortress city which was built originally as the emperors vacation home. These days the city is mostly a port city and they live a modest life far removed from outside influences.
---------------------------------------------
Samarkand is a fairly large city in the Masal Desert, and it’s governed by a council of merchants. It has no military, only a small army of guards to keep order in the city. There is no need for a military at all, since invasion is almost impossible with Samarkand’s Eye; a massive reflecting panel that harnesses sunlight to create a beam of energy that literally vaporizes anything it is directed at. The eye cannot see past Samarkand’s Shield, though. Thus, it protects anything inside the shield. The only plausible way Samarkand could be invaded is if the invading army hid in the mountains until nightfall, and then ran all night across the desert.
---------------------------------------------
ALEXGILESONIA-HALIPHESUS
The most heavily populated city-state in the world, the most technological advanced city-state in the world, and the one with the most powerful politically, Alexgilesonia-Haliphesus is the location of several of the important peoples and places in the world.
The largest city-state stretches far with urban life, resembling 18th Prague or London. Great walls, grand structures, politicians, corrupt politicians, underworlds, mafia, jails, everything is there. Alexgilesonia-Haliphesus is also the hallmark of academia in the world, being home of the most prestigious schools in nearly all fields. Alexgilesonia-Haliphesus has the greatest cultural diversity, being the home of some of every race in existence.

NOTABLE LOCATIONS*
*(Alexgilesonia-Haliphesus has so many notable locations that the below are only a little bit of it. Things may be added.)

Governor’s Palace: The living area of the rulers of Alexgilesonia-Haliphesus, a massive tower. The level of importance rises as the floor goes up, with the highest Patrician’s office residing on the highest level. Political gatherings and reports and foreign embassies are all located in this Palace.

Wizard’s Dome: A small dome from the outside, limitless from the inside, the Wizard’s Dome is the area of schooling and living for Wizards. Though it takes up about one block of the city-state, the inside could as well be a small city or town of it’s own. Magical education, training, and anything involving Wizard’s usually start here.

The Underworld: The name is quite literal, the gathering places of the darker organizations and the mafia starts in the gloom of the back streets, but going underground, the base of all the illegal organizations and thugs is found. Not much is known, usually legal people that go down there don’t come back out.

Guild Complex: The various guilds are located in the Guild Area, quite fittingly. From Workers, to Lawyers, to Clowns, to even petty Thieves, organizations gather here and fight for their rights. Some people, some people hate them but you can find almost anything here.

Sector 21.7: The factory and machine making sector of the town, and the forefront of industrialism in the world, the best of things and the worst of things are produced here, except for weapons. Quite dirty and has really bad air. On occasion one may see things moving on their own, or a disassembled robot, but those things can’t exist, right?

University of Edumucation: The best university in the world. Nuff’ said. Is also the location of the largest multi-topic library.

Tower of Justice: The area with the prisons, watchmen and all that. With so much crime happening in Alexgilesonia-Halipheus, the most in any city, there are more cops and watchmen than any city. The highest rank is Warden Commander.
---------------------------------------------
Lome Mountains
The Lome mountains are home to the Liberi de Muntis a clan based society of swarthy humans. The mountains are some of the most impressive in the world, their peaks almost always hidden amongst the high clouds. Between the mountains are various valleys which allow the Liberi to sustain their cities inside the mountains. The Lome mountains are in the northwest of the continent, around a hundred and fifty kilometers from the northernmost reaches of Myr. To the south it borders Hasslebad, to the north the Wuntarlundan, the east Terra Sanctae and to the west the western ocean.

Cities/towns
Iroboar – The capitol of the Liberi Iroboar is essentially a small hallowed out mountain with a city made of granite and marble in the middle. Home to around thirty thousand people Iroboar is a prosperous city in the middle of the Lome mountains and for most it is very difficult to travel to and nearly impossible to find without prior knowledge of its location.
Reahak – A large port, Reahak is the second largest city in the Lome mountains and is built along the coast. Carved into the massive granite cliffs it truly is a sight to behind and many sailors make a point to visit it at least one to gave upon its splendor.
The Terra Sanctae (Holy Land) region is located in the central part of the mainland, and it’s defined by huge stretches of grassy plains and hills. The settlements in Terra Sanctae are characterized by their devoutness to Elsse, a major polytheistic religion. There are five city-states in Terra Sanctae; Bandora, Rothryn, Setgam, Apothmet, and Wesngash. Each one of them is ruled by the High Priests of each one of the Elsse Gods. Thus, they’re constantly fighting for the supremacy of their God in the Elsse Pantheon. Each city resembles those of Medieval England.
---------------------------------------------
Terra Sanctae is populated entirely by Sanctaes, which are humans with a pale skin complexion and generally dark hair colorings. They dress much like in Medieval England, as aforementioned.

Elsse is a polytheist religion which condones violence and the mistreatment of the people. High Priests are considered envoys of the Gods, and their will is respected in each city. It is said that the gods in the Elsse Pantheon fight for dominance, thus each of the five cities if Terra Sanctae have taken sides. The religion is much like that in Ancient Greece, even though the society is like Feudal England. Magic is condemned in every city-state of Terra Sanctae.

Ereleus is the God of Justice; thus the city in which he is worshipped, Bandora, has a very unique judiciary system. Every crime, even the pettiest, is punished by temporary imprisonment, followed by mass burnings at the stake in the City Square.

Leteusai is the God of Life; and it is believed in Rothryn that to maintain the God’s good will and essence, human sacrifices are needed. The offerings are sacrificed by the High Priests of the city, as they are stabbed one by one in the heart on a platform in front of the cathedral with a ceremonial dagger. And that is how criminals are punished.

Sarthen is the God of the Sun; and it is believed sacrifices are needed in order to prevent eternal darkness in Terra Sanctae. The rest is like in Leteusai.

Senthus is the God of Peace; it is believed that Peace can be attained by unifying Terra Sanctae and killing off everyone who opposes Senthus. Criminals are punished by hanging in a secluded area away from the city. Senthus is built atop a large hill in the exact center of Terra Sanctae.

Aroprem is the God of Heavens- it is believed that he wishes to guide Sanctaes that worship him to the Heavens before they die, so they may live in eternal peace and joy forever. Thus, they built a massive tower which until today is still in construction. From atop, it is possible to see a small line in the horizon; that line is in fact the Nitchfallen Mountains beyond the Masal Desert.

Reijusuki:
A country well known for its trade in silk and beautifully decorated home forged weapons. Rumor has it though that they also induce in underground drug dealing, with a large focus on opium. It’s well known for its large trade route that runs through the length of the country. The trade route is well decorated and mainly has sakura trees running a long side the route. It gives the image of a country that is very prosperous. The multitude of islands are connected with bridges that show off the architectural genius of the country. Although behind this Façade of welfare the regions that are away from the Main Trade Route are poor and live in inhumane circumstances. The country still abides by a strong class system. It connects to the mainland with the 2 large ports at the end of the trade route.

Cities:
- Shakõ: The Capitol that is located on the largest of the islands and is on the middle of the trade route. It’s locals mainly consists of high nobles although some of the lower nobles reside in the downtown area. It is a meeting place for lots of trade and commerce.
- Ekido: The Western port at the end of the trade route. It is also a common trade place for fish and this is usually where most people arrive. It is the biggest of the two ports and offers tourist stays, albeit expensive.
- Kugiri: The South – Eastern port: A simple small one stop port, there isn’t much accommodation for spending the night so most people leave by the boat the moment they get in the city. Consists of several warehouses with storage space.
---------------------------------------------
Iranieth is a rough landscape characterized by its dark, dead soil and hollowed out mountains– which are in fact hives to the Kilit. There are no “settlements” in Iranieth, since practically the entire place is infested with Kilit and wyvern roosts. They compose of 6% of the world’s population.

Hives are organized by hollowing out mountains, in which are crudely dug a many, many corridors. In each hive there are nurseries for female Kilit to store their larva, and atop each mountain is a roost for the wyvern mounts. Specific individuals are responsible with handling them.
---------------------------------------------
Beatitis: An island located to the south of the Masal Desert. It is densely forested by a rainforest environment, and as such, is heavily populated by animals. It's climate is that of a typical rainforest, being very hot and moist. It is a favorite destination of hunters and trappers, despite the dangers presented by its fiercest residents, the Gato. The Gato protect the island from invaders, including hunters. Despite this, hunters still come, and the wildlife of Beatitis is a food source in areas close by.
---------------------------------------------
Casa: The home of the Gato. Located in the center of Beatitis. It is a small city, built into the center of Beatitis' forest. Every building is made out of wood. Looks much like a Revolutionary War-era American fort, but much larger, and more refined. This is where the majority of the Gatos live. It is also home to the Gato government, where the Tom and the Queen live.
---------------------------------------------
Eisberg: A massive iceberg located to the north of the Plains of Atheah. It is massive enough to be considered an island, and is level on top, so civilization can be supported. There is a sparse amount of vegetation covering the island, the result of small amounts of dirt accumulating over time. Not many people live here, and there are very few towns on the island.
---------------------------------------------
Gefängnis: A large prison located on the island of Eisberg. Made completely with gray materials, the foundation was soaked with water when it was built to freeze it to the ground to promote stability. Prisoners of all races are housed here. Most are serving life sentences. This prison has a reputation of being the most brutal prison in all of the world. However, it is also the most corrupt. Both the prisoners and the guards are involved in many illegal operations.
---------------------------------------------
Aeraes: The city in which the Skykin live. It's only accessible by air, since it's essentially a large plate supported by a massive pillar that rises out of the Lome Mountains. The buildings are high as well, and there are even streets for crippled Skykin. Thousands of birds nest within the city.
---------------------------------------------
AUSLEBEN

The region of Ausleben is located under and around the southwestern area of the main continent. The area is near the portion of the Nichtfallen that remained on the mainland. It is one of the medium size territories.

Ausleben have 3 distinct societies with subsets in each.
First are the vampires. The sun-fearing vampires have made the underground and mountain-side coves of Ausleben home and the majority of the more peaceful vampires are located here.
On the other side of Ausleben, within the forests full of dead trees and evergreens is a large society of werewolves.
The largest of the population in Ausleben are the Undead though. The Undead make up 66% percent of the Ausleben population, compared to the 19% and 14% of vampires and werewolves respectively. The Undead are quite sensitive regarding their former races and make up districts and other organizations based on their former races.
Other races are welcome to Ausleben peacefully, but they usually don’t feel comfortable in it’s depths.

The commercial economy of Ausleben is based on lumber, mining, and archaeological searches. The mountains are abundant with valuable gems, stones, and magical and nonmagical artifacts. Ausleben presents the safest part of going into the dangerous mountains, though it is still very dangerous.

The mountains look quite dark and plain at first sight, on and sometimes within them are built several grand castles that are the living place of the vampires. Within the forests bellow are several burrows and wooden villages that are the homes of the werewolves. Undead cities and settlements are scattered amongst the area, in the mountains, forests, and in between.

NOTABLE LOCATIONS

Blutenacht Castle: A massive castle that was built into a hollowed out part of the mainland Nichtfallen. It is the home of the majority of vampires and also the home of the center of vampire politics. The Nacht Konig, or Night King, also resides here. The Nacht Konig is the king of the Vampires and holds the highest position in the race.

Hundfort: A settlement built in the icy forests below the mountains. Though not very large, it is used not as the living place of werewolves, but the center for dimplomatic and political affairs. The Werewolf Triumvate, the Three Alpha Males who hold the highest power in the Werewold society, reside here.

Krypta: A massive underground city on the base of the mountains, that leads into pathways into the mountain range. The home of many undead and the several Undead who have positions of power. The area is protected by dark magic and the Undead military resides in Krypta.
---------------------------------------------
Name: Aequor

Cities + Notable Locations:

Poseidon: A floating city populated by humans. It is built like a giant raft. The foundation of every building is made of wood, and all materials used in construction are quite buoyant. Main methods of transportation are canals and bridges, which are everywhere in the city. The city is generally stable and doesn't move. Barring storms and high winds, it is generally found to the south of the desert peninsula. The economy reflects the city's position. The cities main source of income is fishing, and the majority of the population is made of of fishermen. The rest of the population is made up of craftsmen (who repair the city and its foundation) and boat-builders. Poseidon's boats are particuarly prized for their sturdiness and many are sold each month. The city's government is set up like a ship's hierarchy. The leader of the city is called the Captain, his right-hand man the First Mate, and so on. Fresh water is obtained through trade and the occasional pockets found in the ocean. The style of the city is much like Venice, with squat buildings, canals, and bridges everywhere.

Leviathan: The capital city of the Mer-People. Located to the west of the continent. The city is entirely underwater, and entirely populated by the Mer-People. The occasional human is able to visit the city by means known only to its inhabitants. The city is comprised of multiple rings surrounding each other. In the middle ring is the Palace, where the King, Queen, and the rich live. The palace is styled like Atlantica's. The next ring is where the middle class lives. The last ring is where the lower class lives. All rings are a half-mile wide at all points( except for the palace, where the ring is one mile wide). The rings are made up of walls, each 200 feet high with a ceiling( again, the Palace ring has no ceiling). The merchant's bazaar is set up outside of the rings. The only way to pass between rings is through gates in each wall, much like Minas Tirith. Guards patrol the outside of the palace, which has no ceiling to protect it.

Hydra: The capital city of the Cavare. Another underwater city, to the north-west of Leviathan. It is a system of caves hollowed out of an undersea mountain by the Cavare. In the center of the mountain, there is a circular hollow area which constitutes as the main city. In the center of this hollow area is where the Cavare Citadel is located. This is where the Cavare Chancellor resides. Massive pillars have been erected throughout this hollow area to prevent collapsing. Branching off from this hollow area are multiple smaller hollow "suburbs" where other Cavare live. Each suburb has an access tunnel to the main hollow and another tunnel that reaches the outside. Each suburb has multiple passageways connecting to the exterior of the mountain, as does the main hollow. All in all, there are about 300 entrances to Hydra all over the mountain.
---------------------------------------------
Hasselbad
Hasselbad is a heavily forested region to the east of the missal. South of the lome mountains and north of the Swamps of Ima life in Hasselbad is comfortable for its inhabitants. The land in Hasselbad is some of the most fertile in the world which makes it a farmers heaven. The forests also are home to a plentiful source of game and few meals in Hasselbad are without meat. The Region has a temperate climate which makes in a comfortable place to live and regular showers of rain help keep the crops in the region healthy. Hasslebad also claims control over the two islands Creti and Sreti to the west although the islands are frequently raided by the Beorites and men of Wuntarlundan.
The people of Hasselbad live in tribes, and each tribe has its own town or two which it oversees. One chieftain usually oversees each town and the position is usually hereditary so tribes don’t always have the best of leaders.

Cities/Towns
Simblud – Situated on the other side of the Caramas Pass from the Masal Desert Simblud sees a fair traffic of travelers to and from the desert. Due to this it has become a good sized merchant town and many goods from the desert and the rest of the continent can be found here.
Duru – What outsiders believe to be the Capital of Hasselbad Duru is a large town in the middle of the region. It is essentially your standard medieval village which is known for its wood working.
Hamblud – Nothing too special about this village, just a large farming community to the south of the region.
Pari – A port for the region Pari however isn’t connect to the main road system and goods generally take some time to get further inland.
Silum – The Capitol of Hasslebad, Silum is a large town hidden in the forests. Few outsiders know of the city and ever fewer have actually seen it. The chieftains of the region meet in the city each year to settle disputes and attend to inter-tribal affairs.
---------------------------------------------
Wuntarlundan
Wutarlundan is a harsh northern territory home to the Wuntarlunmen and the Beorites. The region has very cold winters and as such the Wuntarlunmen and the Beorites spend most of the winters on their ships raiding ports up and down the coasts of the land. There isn’t much else to say about Wuntarlundan unfortunately as it really is a mostly barren region with only a few sprawling hills and a couple forests.

Cities/Towns

Reyaja – The capitol of the region Reyaja in little more than a glorified port. For a couple kilometers along the coast hundreds of Wuntarlunmen and Beorites berth their ships during the summer and converge on the decent sized town. Roughly half the buildings in the town are taverns, and during the summer nights the city never seems to sleep as drunken Beorites and Wuntarlunmen roam the streets moving from tavern to tavern.
Krustev – A trading port for the region Krustev actually sees some traffic throughout the year as ships sailing from the east pass through the port to acquire provisions.

Kunri – In Kunri one can find the most able bodies of mercenary Wunarlundans. With hundreds of long ships and galleys available for sale and many more men ready to head into the most remote parts of the world for a few gold coins Kunri is a recruiters heaven.

ELVES AND DWARVES AND TROLLS*
*(Not to be confused with anything involving Orlando Bloom)
Rumors say that three of the Creators got drunk one day and decided to have a fun competition on who could create the best semi-midget race. So were born, Elves, Dwarves, and Trolls.
Dwarves are in essence human prairie dogs with beards. They spend most of their time underground doing who knows what. When they come above, it is usually just for political and commercial reasons. The culture of dwarves are relatively unknown by the aboveground. They have no particular region or city, living all across the more populated areas of the world. Dwarves have half the height of an average human. Little is known about their leader except he lives pretty Deep Down.
Elves are in essence short humans with long ears, long noses, and a love for bright things. Their culture is very simple and known by most educated peoples. They populate the large cities and work as merchants. They are usually seen wearing bright colored clothing, occasionally placing an article of clothing on the wrong corresponding body part. The leader of the elves is named Zanta. Elves are half the height of the average human.
Trolls were a mistake. The Creator who made them was so drunk that he made them tall and fat. Trolls are 3 to 4 times the Height of the average human. They are well known for their gullibility, naivety, and simplicity. Even with their huge bodies, Trolls do not usually enjoy fighting, a peaceful race. They usually work in a variety of jobs.

Mer-People: An odd race. They are a completely aquatic race possessing the upper bodies of humans and the lower bodies of dolphins. They are an extremely proud and fierce people. Their capital city is Leviathan. They know more about the ocean than almost any other race. They have a fierce rivalry with the Cavare.

Cavare: The Cavare are, like the Mer-People, an entirely aquatic race. They are about the size of an average human. Despite their savage appearance, they are completely sentient. They are able to speak, as well. The Cavare are the miners of Aequor, often unearthing large deposits of valuable minerals. They make their homes underground or in mountain ranges. Their capital city is Hydra. They have an intense dislike for the Mer-People.

Skykin: A species that resembles humans, except for the fact they have large russet wings and head feathers. They're of medium height and slim but muscular build. Skykin are a very dexterous species.

Gato: The Gato are a race of free-thinking cats with opposable thumbs. It is unknown how they came to be free-thinking, but it is believed that powerful magic was involved. The Gato consist of all known species of feline, but all have one thing in common. They can form coherent thoughts and are capable of speech. The Gato as a whole are highly isolated. Nearly the entire population resides on Beatitis alone. However, some can be found on the mainland and other islands. All Gato are anthropomorphic, although most prefer to walk on all fours. They have a primitive barter economy and no standard currency. Most gato fight using only their bodies, although it is not unusual to see a Gato with a weapon. They do not have great respect for scholars, clerics, and similiar types, believing that philosophical thought and study of history is useless. They instead study biology and other natural sciences. They are fierce protectors of nature, specifically on thier home island, where the hunting business is quite prominent.

The Kilit are a species of humanoid insects, standing at an average of about 5”. They stand erect; have arms and legs, a hard exoskeleton and shell, as well as mandibles and antennas. They’re considered quite hideous amongst other species. Their diet consists of soil (usually from digging tunnels) and their own feces. They can eat meat, whenever they get their hands on it (sometimes going as far as cannibalism).

Technically, Kilit aren’t capable of sentient thought since they’re part of a large collectivity and take specific orders from the Queen, who is known in the human world as Ameracath. It is even said she is capable of sentient, intelligent thought.

The Kilit sometimes need to expand their Empire, thus they invade neighbouring lands with large-scale attacks (using their beloved wyvern mounts).

The Nim
Nim are a short race, their average height is only around ten inches which makes them about half the height of an average human's lower leg. They are generally dark skinned, possible colors including gray, brown, black and occasionally a shade of purple or blue. Their eyes are generally large for their faces and their eye color can be just about anything except white. Their skin could be described as leathery, almost reptilian like but they share more similarities with humans than they do with reptiles. They are generally skinny creatures, but there are many reports of fat or otherwise overweight Nim roaming the land. With their natural slenderness comes surprisingly agile hands and feet which combined with their superb eyesight make working with machinery surprisingly easy. A nim's ears are similar to a humans but are pointed at the tips and a little bigger in proportion to a Nim's head.

The Nim are probably the most scientifically advanced species in the world, their inventions range from their giant zeppelin cities and helicopters to small repeating rifles and fully auto dart shooters. Their machines are partly magically in many cases but most of the inner workings are purely mechanical in operation with only power sources and such being of a magical nature as conventional power sources have lower capacities and significantly reduced reliability compared to their magical counterparts.

Nim Cities
The Nim cities are large Zeppelins that slowly wander around the world making stops when and where they feel like. These airships however can't be easily used by much larger beings as they just wouldn't fit in small corridors and rooms that the nim find they enjoy. For the Nim however these airships have more than enough space for their entire population and thousands of Nim reside of each of the great airships and thousands more roam the world in smaller Nim inventions.

WEREWOLVES & VAMPIRES*
*(Not to be confused with Vampires and Werewolves)

Werewolves. They look human, they always look human at first. But on the night of the full moon, they turn into a doggy, I mean, a wolf. Well, they can turn into a wolf whenever they want, but they have to turn into one on a full moon. Their wolf forms bare resemblances to their human forms. And they can’t resist meat, they love meat. Meat is good. Silver is poison to werewolves, almost instantaneously sapping them of their strength upon contact. They can also talk to dogs. Wuff Wuff. Werewolves, finally, have the most powerful sense of spell of any species, which means bad smelling things will affect them in a really bad way.

Vampires look like pale humans. Real pale humans. They love wearing cloaks and have disturbingly long fans. Anything not blood is poison for a vampire metabolism. Anything that is blood is ambrosia to the vampire metabolism. Vampires can turn into a large human-size bat at will. Their bat forms have resemblances to their human forms. Vampires can talk supersonics to bats at any time. Vampires have perfect blood sense, and blood memory. Remembering where the scent of blood is, and the ability to match blood with whoever owned the blood.

UNDEAD*
*(Not to be confused with Zombies!)

Not even the wisest scholars know the origin of the group of races and species known as the Undead, but they don’t really know how everything else came to be either.
Undead make up 4% percent of the world’s population. There are Undead from all species on the world. Though there “center” is in the region of Ausleben, some undead populate most of the major cities in the world.
The appearance of an undead is similar to whatever original species they were of. Except that the body is decayed, clammy and cold, with some parts fallen off and other falling off. An Undead spends his lifetime going through the process of decaying and regenerating. Part of its body decays while other parts regenerate.
Undead are not people dieing come back to life, they may used to have been, but not anymore. They are a fully sentient species, capable of reproduction (don’t ask), though at a rate much slower than their counterparts. The differences with their original species are the following: Ability to survive without water, food, air and things of that likeness. They also have a low tolerability to extreme lighting. The average of the natural sunlight is fine. But anything to extreme they cannot handle. Do note that Undead are able to die. All Undead are unable to swim, they would drown in water. Undead may die of old age, but their life times are several times that of their counterpart. They may also die of wounds and the like, for while they don’t have need for organs and such, for some reason they still feel the pain and the pain of Death, and likewise die.

ZOMBIES*
*(Not to be confused with Undead!)
Zombies are not really a race. Zombies are corpses that are reanimated using dark magic by necromancers. Zombie’s have no independent thought, or to that matter any thought at all, they just cater to the whims of their masters. Zombies only retain whatever ability they had when they were alive.

Lucifer Black - Myr
The heavily cloaked Lucifer Black made his way through the narrow alleys in the older districts of Myr, shadowed by the tall sandstone buildings and his obscure clothing. The lifeless body of a beggar lay still behind him, drained of his blood. Nothing wrong with a little snack before my appointment, he thought. If he followed the instructions given to him correctly, he would soon end up in a modest bazaar. Here, the vampire would find his contact. On a little parchment given to him, it was written: '... I will be the man wearing the blue-feathered hat'.

Of course, after reading this Lucifer had some idea on what species this contact what, and he had some suspicions that the hat wouldn't be on said contact's head. His suspicions were confirmed as he emerged into a crowded bazaar, and immediately saw a very short man sitting on a bench, a blue-feathered hat strapped to his shoulder. The vampire sighed and crossed the street to meet the elf, Benjan Gwenfer. The small character's eyes lit up and his mouth curled up in a wide grin the instant he saw the vampire approaching him, with two bulges discretely poking from his shoulder blades, concealed by his cloak.

"So it's true!" he was euphoric now. "You have wings! Yet you don't need to transform! That's amazing!" his voice was a little too high-pitched and childish for Lucifer's taste. He sighed in exasperation, sat next to the short scholar and clamped his mouth shut with a gloved hand. "Shut up." But as soon as he removed his hand, the elf continued his blabbering.

"Oh my! You needn't transform, I assume you can't! This will be an excellent topic for my-"

"I told you to shut up. We can't talk here-"

"Oh, my writings about this will go in the Archival Library in Alexgilesonia-Haliphesus, this is-"

"Stop-"

"Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! But first I'll need one of those wings of yours!"

"Wait a second, I'm not-"

"Were both your parents vampires? My you're a brilliant specimen!"

Marcus Domitius Aquilinus and Ruhk - Myr

Marcus half slept in the saddle as his horse continued to plod along the road that winded its way through the billowing sands of the Masal desert. For days he had been riding with Ruhk the quiet man from Hasselbad who for some reason thought traveling with Marcus would take him to places yet unknown to man and possibly to places unknown to even the gods. Marcus of course didn't understand exactly what Ruhk saw in him, a disgraced centurion from Ilaia who after a dispute with a senior tribune had fled the legion rather than face execution. He had fled and now he was left to wander the world trying to find something to live for.

As his thoughts drifted through his time in the legion he was suddenly startled back into full wakefulness by a backhand slap from Ruhk who rode besides him. Blinking quickly in the bright light Marcus let his eyes readjust to the light before taking in his surroundings. Behind him and to his left and right stretched the endless desert, the only feature being the distant curve of a river who's name Marcus couldn't remember. Ahead of him however Marcus saw Myr, the ancient city that was the capitol of these parts, it's outer walls thirty feet high and studded with turrets every fifty meters or so. Marcus was surprised to see it so close all of a sudden, and his eyes darted along the top of the wall taking in the bright sparkling of the guards armor, the pair of large Nim Polybolos and the various other Ballistae and catapults that dotted the city wall. Directly in front of Marcus however was the massive fifty foot tall Sun Gate which at this hour was packed as hundreds of people tried to push their way in and out of the city.

Sitting up a bit in his sable Marcus began scanning the crowd his eagerness for getting into the city evidently as Ruhk's hand found his shoulder.

"It'll be another hour at least. The mod here is thicker than it looks." Ruhk said softly, his deep voice carrying only as far as he wanted it to. Marcus nodded as he cast a look sideways into Ruhk's scar covered face which when he had me the man had been clean shaven showing each of the jagged white scars that crossed his jaw. Now however many of them were covered up by a short dark brown beard, which disappeared underneath his helmet at the temples. As Marcus's gaze drifted over Ruhk's face he suddenly found the man's icy blue eyes staring back into Marcus's brown ones.

"You'll want to put your helmet on too." Ruhk said after a brief moment. "Myr isn't well known for its safe streets after all and we most likely won't be staying in the richer districts with what coin we have."

"Do you expect to be ambushed by raptores in the city?" Marcus asked as he leaned backward to open his saddle bag so he could fish out his helmet.

"No raptores are of little worry during the day. The issue lies with the urchins, there has been a civil war in the city for almost a year now although you wouldn't know it looking at the richer and well off sections of the town." Ruhk said simply as the mod in front o them moved forward another inch.

"Urchins? Little street kids?" Marcus asked.

"Yes marcus little street kids with slings and sharp rocks against armed city guardsmen and legionaries." Ruhk said and Marcus stifled a laugh but straightened his face as Ruhk's gaze drifted back to him. "You'd do well to be wary, it's not just urchins who attack the city guards either, they have helpers throughout the city and they kill just as many guardsmen as the urchins."

"This isn't some elaborate joke is it?" Marcus asked although as he thought about it he couldn't remember Ruhk ever making a joke let alone laughing at one.

"Just wait until we enter the city, I'll be sure to take us through one of the more dangerous districts." Ruhk said and Marcus thought he saw the titch of a small smile along Ruhk's mouth. They both remained quiet after that, a sound Marcus had gotten used to during the past few weeks but this time he had the sounds of the great city to fill his ears as he slowly rode through the mob towards the city gate.

Zephner - Somewhere in the Ocean

A tall figure shrouded in black clothes stood on the bow of the small boat. The long black hair of the man was blown back by the light sea breeze and was the only part of him, except for his icy blue eyes, that wasn't covered by anything. Behind him were the original crew of boat whom were still half asleep from a late trawler trip. The sun was up and shining brightly, which could explain the confused stares from the crew at the man who was shrouded completely in black and didn't even seem to flinch from the heat.

Zephner looked out over the ocean, he had managed to find a crew and boat that could sail him across to Reijusuki without being forced to check in at a port and go through all the procedures to actually be allowed to venture onto the island. This way he would easily arrive on island without any trouble regarding his gear and also remain unnoticed. He turned around and faced the crew who instantly averted their gazes. I should be arriving soon, I hope my contact is there and on time. Zephner let out a sigh as he led himself slide down onto a small seat made just behind the bow.

Ellibereth – Center City, Alexgilesonia Haliphesus

The boy was running, hard. The busy streets passed by in a blur as the Undead panted hard, left hand on his right shoulder to stop the skin from peeling off while he was running. Ellibereth wasn’t late yet for his next class in the Wizard’s Dome, but it would truly be magical if he did make it on time. The boy was wearing the standard clothing for wizards-in training, Robes. Ellibereth wore black ones. Black was his favorite color! The Undead Human still didn’t have too many cracks and rotted pieces on his body, but it was starting. Ellibereth blamed puberty.

As he crossed the street and was cursed at by an Elf he nearly stepped on, as he tripped over the top of a pothole trapdoor entrance to a dwarf home, Ellibereth didn’t really care. How, could he be late? Today of all days! It was the day where they, Network and Familiar Magic joint majors who wished to become Necromancers, would learn the first basic steps of necromancy! The large silver dome came to view and time slowed back to normal; Ellibereth patted with his hand on the side of his robe to check is his spellbook was still there. Thank god it was. Ellibereth walked over and opened the crystalline door the Dome and came face to face with the guard imp that oversaw entrance and leaving from the Dome.

“Name, sir?” The imp spoke with a squeaky high voice, normal for imps.

“You new here?” Ellibereth was scratching his shoulder again as he fired the question back. For Undead, puberty wasn’t pleasant. The whole degeneration regeneration thing started going at a much quicker rate than usual.

“Yes sir, but I need you name.”

“What’s your name?”

“I don’t know sir.”

“Well I don’t know mine either.” Ellibereth gave a small cough as a rotting part of his shoulder dropped to the ground. “Does that mean I can come in?”

“I think so sir.”

“Ok, good.” With a sigh, Ellibereth opened the inner set of gates and walked into the wide ballroom that was the entrance to the Wizard's Dome. The boy was walking slower now. Somehow he had managed to still have 5 minutes left before Necromancy 101 started. Crossing the ballroom, he opened yet another door and looked upon the mini-city, totally populated by magical beings alike.

"Ok now, all I have to do is to go to the place that the class is in." Ellibereth spoke aloud, then gave a confident step foward before stopping and groaning. "Where the hell was that class going to be?!?"

Lucifer Black - Myr

Lucifer jumped from roof to roof, his wings outstretched so he could glide across wider gaps, and support the squirming cloth sack he was carrying. Nobody would see him; he was traveling across the poorer districts and even the scarce people traveling the streets below were unlikely to raise their heads. In any case, there was no reason to raise one's head in this city anyways, unless they wished to stare directly at the blazing sun. That would have been quite inadvisable.

Lucifer hissed. "Would you stop squirming?" Earlier, when Lucifer met up with Benjan the Scholar, the elf wouldn't stop gawking about his wings. The interesting "specimen" then asked where Benjan lived, and the little elf then answered in great detail, his high-pitched voice standing out amongst the ambient noise at the bazaar. Having acquired that information, Lucifer decided it would be best to continue the discussion at Benjan's home. Thus, he grabbed a cloth sack and shoved the feisty little scholar inside. To cover the distance separating the bazaar from their destination, Lucifer decided it would be quicker to simply jump, glide, and climb across the city instead of trying to make his way through the labyrinth which was Myr.

The vampire landed on another small sandstone building, ran across the roof and leaped across to the next. Unfortunately, his landing wasn't as pleasant as previously. As he touched down on the roof, his stride was interrupted by a hefty rock colliding with his face. He stumbled towards the edge of the roof, dropping the bag down in a conveniently placed bale of hay below. Clutching his bloodied face, he saw an urchin palming another -equally large- rock.

"Die, demon!" shouted the Masalan youth, before hurling the rock at Lucifer. That did it. The vampire fell backwards, off the roof, and "landed" on his back with a loud thud. The urchin fled across the rooftop, leaving the bloodied Lucifer semi-unconscious on the gravel street, his wings outstretched beside him.

From around the street corner, a horse mounted by two men approached. One of them had a helmet, much similar to that of the Ilain Legions. Damn it, thought Lucifer, before drifting into unconsciousness.

Gaius Tiberius Triarius - Border of Ilaia and Caaire Falat

"Tribune Triarius!!" the shout came from behind and Gaius Tiberius Triarius turned to look down teh hill towards where a messenger was running up the hill. "Triarius!" The messenger kept shouting and Gaius just stood there waiting until the messenger broke through the throng of soldiers he had been trying to get past and rushed up to where Triarius and his inner council stood ontop of a small hill overlooking the plain where the legion stood in full battle order, their eyes scanning the treeline some five hundred meters way.

"Tribune, message from the Senate... Urgent." The messenger said pressing a roll of parchment into Triarius's hand before collapsing in the dirt. Quickly opening the parchment Triarius took a step away from the messenger and began reading the scroll quickly. When he was done he looked up with a bright smile on his face.

"Gentlemen the Senate has approved my request, they are sending the Legion Fero and the 3rd Romae to support us. By next winter we should be in Lordium!" Triarius announced happily and the expressions of his council showed similar feelings.

"Praetorian, get this man some food and a tent. He deserves good rest." Triarius said as he turned to look at one of his personal guards. He knew the man's name of course but as a formality he simply called him by his rank and the man quickly went to help the messenger. Triarius watched them for a minute before the sound of a cornicern from the center of the column and Triarius's gaze quickly shifted to the woods on the far side of the plain where a number armed men were walking slowly into the open.

"Finally!" Triarius heard one of the Senior Centurions say as they all quickly grabbed their weapons from the table.

"Agrippa, you take the left flank, Germinius the right!" Triarius shouted to two of his junior Tribunes. They both knew their positions of course but it was merely a formality that Triarius give them permission to take charge of their parts of the legion. Triarius meanwhile donned his helmet, the galea styled helmet quite similar to that of the standard legionaries except for the metal face mask which would cover Triarius's face.

Reaching the center of the legion Triarius tapped one of the Cornicern blowers on the shoulder. "Sound the advance." Triaus said and the blower immediately took up the horn and blew two short blast. Around them a few shouts of glee broke from some of the men as they began moving. One, two, three, pause. Triarius conted the steps with them, the ancient Pyrrhic step that had been created before Ilaia was even an empire. Three quick steps then a pause. It was a march the legionaries had been drilled in since their first day and it came naturally to them as they advanced towards the foe on the other side of the field. With five thousand men all marching at the exact same beat it truly was a sight to behold and Triarius saw the other force waver slightly at the sound.

Xanebes - Center City, Alexgilesonia Haliphesus

Xanebes came barreling through the Wizard Dome's door, and rushed across the ballroom in a matter of seconds. Fortunately, he came to a halt just before smashing into his classmate and friend, Ellibereth. What's that smell? thought Xanebes, his question answered when he saw the Ellibereth's shoulder-flesh rotting.

He gave a hearty chuckle. "Puberty, huh? I had forgotten you were a zombie," he paused. "Sorry- I meant Undead. Anyhow, the smell will pass, right? Hurry up, we'll be late for Necromancy one 'oh one."

Marcus Domitius Aquilinus and Ruhk - Myr

It was almost an hour before Marcus and Ruhk passed through the Sun Gate, a line of city guardsmen in full armor watching them from either side of the archway.

"Those guys look awfully bored with their post." Marcus Remarked. "In Ilaia they'd be whipped for such a lack of discipline. And they call themselves legionaries."

"Guardsmen aren't exactly known for their training in this city. The actual legionaries tho are quiet deadly." Ruhk said as they pulled out of the crowds and Ruhk set his horse into a quick trot which Marcus quickly matched. "The guardsmen in this city really are just sword fodder, but those that live through a couple years of service actually become legionaries and they're almost the equal of the Ilaia Legions." As Ruhk talked he took them off the main street and onto streets that were a little less crowded and Marcus was glad to be out of the overcrowded main street.

Off the main roads tehy started making at least decent time through the overcrowded city streets and within an hour they had reached the second wall. Which Marcus noticed was even taller than the first one.

"How tall is this wall?" Marcus asked Ruhk.

"35 feet, next is 40. They keep getting taller the further into the city you get." Ruhk said simply as they neared another gate. This one just a bit smaller than the Sun Gate. but still standing just above forty feet tall. Passing through this gate was much quicker for the two of them as the mob trying to get through was significantly smaller than the one at the Sun Gate. Passing through the two of them found themselves in a slightly shabbier part of town and Marcus noted that groups of guardsmen stood at each of the street corners.

"I take it this is one of the worse off sections of the town?" Marcus asked but Ruhk just shook his head as he turned his horse onto another street and Marcus followed. Neither of them said anything as Marcus noted the streets were getting grimier and he noticed a group of hooded men disappear around a corner further up the road. And a rotten stench seemed to fill Marcus's nostrils as his horse suddenly nickered softly and Marcus patted the horse's neck reassuringly although Marcus himself was feeling nervous as he watched Ruhk loosen his swords in their sheaths. reaching for his own gladius Marcus followed Ruhk around a corner where they saw a figure lying in the street and a pair of boys running away at the far end of the street.

"Don't make any loud noises." Ruhk whispered as he dropped from his horse and started walking towards the figure on teh ground. Marcus meanwhile looked hurriedly around the street before turning back to the figure and he noticed the most peculiar of things. A pair of large wings sprouted from the otherwise human looking figure and Marcus was almost about to call out to Ruhk but then decided the other man must have already noticed the same thing.

Kneeling down next to the figure Ruhk nudged him. "Marcus get me some water." Ruhk said as the figure made no movement and Marcus quickly dismounted running towards Ruhk with his canteen. Handing it quickly to Ruhk, Marcus stood back and waited as Ruhk splash water in the figures face hoping it would wake.

Lucifer Black - Myr

Lucifer was splashed with water, which for the most part flooded his open mouth. He instantly awoke and sat up, coughing and spitting the liquid. To a vampire, this was quite disgusting. The water tasted foul against his tongue, as refreshing it may have been to any other species. Lucifer turned to his side and vomited blood -the contents of his stomach. Panting for a few seconds, the vampire quickly scampered a few meters away and turned towards his "aggressors". He menacingly deployed his wings and hissed.

Marcus Domitius Aquilinus and Ruhk - Myr

"Sorry about that." Ruhk said softly as he stood back up, his expression calm and his shoulders relaxed. "Didn't mean to get any of that in your mouth, you're a Vampire aren't you?" Ruhk continued his voice oddly calm Marcus noted. Marcus meanwhile had taken a few steps backwards and was looking at the man, his gladiator unsheathed and held in a middle guard in case the figure attacked him.

"It's alright, I was just trying to wake you up, those urchins who attacked you will probably be back with others soon. It was Urchins that attacked you right?" Ruhk asked and Marcus noted a calm feeling was washing over him as if Ruhk's words carried some sort of minor drug with them, one that cooled his nerves and made him lower his sword arm ever so slightly.

Lucifer Black - Myr

Lucifer bared his fangs at the speaker, yet he was still calming down. Soon, he was able enough to speak. He self-consciously folded his wings.

"Yes... It was a child... He- he threw a rock at me and I fell off the roof." said the vampire, wiping his still-blooded nose. How foolish of me- knocked around like this by a mere child. Lucifer slowly rose to his feet, only to realize that one of his legs was fractured. He yelped in pain and crumpled to the ground, writing in pain. He started to feel nauseous. What had he gotten into? What were the intentions of the two strangers?

Marcus Domitius Aquilinus and Ruhk - Myr

"be glad it was only a single child. The last time I was in this city I watched a number of people get stoned to death by groups of the little runts." Ruhk said slowly walking towards Lucifer. "Here, let me help you, we'll get you back to the main streets and you can get to a healer from there." Ruhk said offering his hand to the vampire.

Marcus meanwhile continued watching, his sword still held at a ready guard until a quick look from Ruhk made him put it away and walk forward to help.

"If we help you can you at least make it to one of the horses?" Ruhk asked gesturing back to where the two horses stood in the street. "My friend here can run while we ride. He was once a legionary in Ilaia, so he'll have no trouble keeping up with a pair of trotting horses." Ruhk said and Marcus shot him a murderous glance.
Tempest
Nicole Aquil- Aeraes

As the first rays of the sun shone over the peaks of the Lome Mountains and onto the Skykin city of Aereas, a figure, laying face-down on her bed, groaned in the city. The sound was quite muffled, as she was laying on her stomach. The reason for this was revealed quickly, as the waking person moved and the sheets slipped off of her body. A magnificent pair of wings rested on her back, sprouting from her shoudler blades and reaching down to her calves, the tips of the countours grazing the inside of the knee. The person gave another loud groan and raised her hand, which quickly slapped the back of her head. Awake now, the person pushed herself up on her hands into a pushup position. She quickly shifted into a sitting position, her legs dangling over the edge of the bed and the flats of ehr feet on the floor. The eprson began mumbling to herself. " C'mon, Nicole. Today's the day. You've gotta be... " She yawned loudly at this point. " Awake. "

Nicole stood up and raised her arms above her head, stretching and destroying the last traces of drowsiness that lay in her body. Glancing around the room, she picked up a brown, long-sleeved shirt which appeared to be cut in half vertically. She slipped it on and reached her arms around her back, fumbling with something for a few seconds. She took her hands away, having successfully tied the shirt to herself using the attached strings. She brought her hands up to her neck and tied another knot around it, securing the shirt completely. Next, she picked up a pair of sandy-brown pants off of the floor, slipping them on quickly, extending her wings slightly to avoid getting them caught. Lastly, she took a sheath-belt off of her bed and tied it securely around her waist.

Fully clothed, she now picked a medium-sized bag up off the floor and walked around the room, throwing various items of clothing into it. After she had three shirts and three pairs of pants stuffed into it, she began putting other items into it. First to go in was a large traveling cloak, which Nicole folded absentmindedly. The cloak was followed closely by a sewing kit and three extra spools of thread. Next to go in was a roll of bandages, and then a weapon-care kit. Last to g in was a medium-sized book, which caused the bag to sag slightly. Nicole then picked up two curved daggers off of her desk. They were plain and unmarked but they were sturdy, which was the reason they were bought. Nicole put both daggers into their sheaths on her belt, making sure they were secure before moving on. Passing her desk, she spied her reflection in a mirror and she couldn't resist stopping to look. The same, regular face stared back at her, with its sharp angles, gray eyes, and multitude of white-flecked-with-brown feathers laying flat on the top of her head. But today, her jaw was set and her eyes were filled with determination. Nodding to her own reflection, she picked up her bag, slung it across her shoulders, left her room, and crossed the hall towards the door on the other end. On her way, she took a letter from her pocket and set it on a desk in the hallway, where it was sure to be seen. She reached the door and hesitated for a moment before squaring up and opening it.

On normal days, she would have taken flight seconds after walking out into the streets of Aereas. This was not a normal day, however. It was still only a short time after daybreak, so very few, if any, of her fellow Skykin were awake. So she decided to walk. It is a rare thing, seeing a Skykin walk the streets of her own city. But Nicole was never one to care for appearances, and as such, did not mind walking. She found it rather soothing in fact. As she walked, she looked up at the buildings around her, realizing that this was the last time in a long time that she wuld be seeing them. She took in every sight, every smell, and every small sound. She wanted this memory to last. Before long, Nicole had reached the edge of the city and was peering over the edge of the plate, gazing at the black expanse below. It was still early, and as such, she could not see the ground. Taking a deep breath, she shifted her bag so that it was around her neck and laying across her stomach. She took one last glance into the black abyss, relaxed, and then jumped over the edge.

Seth - Myr

Oh great, just what this town needs; more foreigners! Seth thought bitterly to himself as he watched two men, one from Hasselbad, the other from Ilaia, ride in through the Sun Gate. In the thick crowd, the Sanctaen youth slipped through the gate unseen, and pressed his way along the wall to the north. He needed to get away from the city, and the less people who spotted him the better. Once he was clear of the gate, he looked around cautiously, making sure nobody was within the immediate area, and whistled loudly. The clear, pure tone cried out into the desert air, and a small speck high up in the sky replied with a light 'caaw!' Seth leaned against the wall, and shaded his eyes with his hands as he watched the speck dive down towards him. As the speck came closer, it began to more closely resemble a black bird, and Seth extended his left arm. On his forearm was a thick leather pad, which had numerous scratch marks on it. Some of the marks looked like they were caused by a blade, but the majority of them were shaped like bird talons.
Finally, the bird landed, backflapping quite a bit to keep itself stable on Seth's arm. It was a rather large raven, with pure black feathers and blood-red eyes that had landed on his arm. However, despite the fact that the bird was rather large and very intimidating, Seth began carefully stroking its chest with his free arm, with a light smile appearing on his lips.
"I was wondering where you'd gotten off to," he whispered softly, staring into the raven's eyes. Then, in a more serious tone, he lifted up his left arm, saying, "well, you know what the mission is. We get in, we purify the hieracosphinx, we get out. Any casualties are their own fault for being idiotic morons." The raven took off, flying north at a rather slow speed. Seth ran after it, quickly feeling to make sure his spellbook was still in his back pocket. Once he confirmed that the book was indeed still there, he sped up his pace a bit, and fell into a bit of a rhythm, running over the sand dunes. His long, dark brown hair flew around him like a flag in the desert wind, and his soft leather boots left very shallow indentations as he trekked over the sand. It felt good for him to run again. Despite being a student of Familliar magic, he still was absolutely horrible with horses, and it was usually faster for him to jog across the countryside than for him to to try and ride a horse by himself.
After about 15 minutes of jogging, Seth slowed down his pace. Up on the horizon, Seth spotted their destination; a small sandstone village, nothing more than a few pubs, an inn, and a little shop for meats.
To think, there have already been three confirmed injured, and a casualty. That must be half the outpost! Still, Seth considered himself lucky that the hieracosphinx had appeared in such an untraversed place. Had it been the middle of Myr, many more people would probably have been eaten by now. Of course, if it had appeared in Myr, Seth also wouldn't have to be running through the desert based on the rumors of travellers. Heck, if he was lucky, the guards could have taken down the beast themselves, and he wouldn't have even needed to lift a finger.
But then a more disturbing thought occurred to him, one which made him increase his pace once more. While this outpost wasn't exactly a tourist resort, it was directly on the only road connecting Myr to Samarkand. And that meant one thing...
Merchants. Lots and lots of vulgar, cruel merchants, all of them wanting the prestige and gold associated with sphinxes. If the hieracosphinx doesn't eat them, I'll tear them apart myself! Bloody vultures that they are.

Ryvva - Jungles of Beatitis

Experiencing a strange feeling of satisfaction, Ryvva looked down at her handiwork. The hunter lay dead at her feet, every inch of his exposed skin covered in gashes. His clothes were ripped to pieces. A gentle smile appeared on her face, she just couldn't help herself. Content, she sat down and started grooming herself. No matter how much she hated her fur, she hated it even more to have it covered in blood. After a while, she got up once more and picked up the hunter's body. With it on her shoulders, she headed back to Casa.

Strange creatures they were, the Gato. Though intelligent enough to speak and build a city, they still retained most of their feline instincts and just had to obey them. One of those instincts demanded that they take their kills home, either to feed the others or to vie for the Queen's approval. Ryvva wasn't entirely sure herself. She just felt compelled to take him home to her Queen, no matter how heavy he was or how far it was to Casa.

Arriving at Casa's gates a few hours later, the guards greeted her with smiles on their face. "Ryvva! Good to see you again! I see you managed to pick one more off, well done!"

"Good to see you too, Hylag," she replied, with a grim look on her face, "and it wasn't so easy either. This one almost got me. It seems they are hunting us these days."

"Us? They got a dead wish, it seems!" answered Hylag, with a smile on his face. "Haha, they'll realise soon enough that they are no match for us!"

"I wouldn't be too sure about that Hylag, they're smarter than you think." said Ryvva to herself, soft enough to prevent Hylag from hearing.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing. Just let me in now, and have someone tell the Queen I'm on my way."

"Ofcourse, Ryvva."

Hylag pushed open the great wooden gate and let Ryvva enter. Ryvva once again shouldered her kill and headed for the Royal Palace. We are being targeted, the Queen has to know.

Ellibereth - Wizard's Dome, Alexgilesonia Haliphesus

Ellibereth was standing on the stairs cursing himself. Not much to do when you didn't where your seminar was in the whole darn city. The Undead conjured up thoughts of memories of where the Necromancy 101 seminar was supposed to be, and decidely failed.

He didn't notice, for that matter, the tall boy that had almost smashed into him. Not until Xanebes spoke at least. From the first comment on Puberty, to the little pry on Undead and Zombies, Ellibereth really didn't have to turn arond to know it was Xanebes behind him. The two went way back. From when Ellibereth was sent over from Krypta, Ausleben to Wizard's Dome Elementary. In Ellibereth's opinion, Xanebes wasn't the most talented wizard, but he was still quite a good friend to have, save the moments of intense Satire.

"Yes Xanabes, Puberty. And yes to the Undead part to." Ellibereth ignored the portion of the comment involving smell. Useful skill of being Undead was a weak sense of smell. "I can't hurry up since I can't remember where in this stupid city that stupid seminar's going to be." Ellibereth could only grumble now. "Anyway, we're already late..."

"Yes you are Mr. Asmodeus." The low voice came slowly into Ellibereth's ears. He recognized that voice. It came from that was sometimes considered the harshest in the whole Dome. Sir Siegbard Neglalius, a human that was almost ancient. Quite a short fellow, but with an aura of power around him.

"Yes sir, but it's funny isn't it. Aren't you in charge of the semi..." Ellibereth's voice was cut short now that he had noticed the people behind Sir Neglalius. Obviously the class taking part. "Oh..."

"No matter, Mr. Asmodeus. But remember, your usual tardiness, laziness, and lethargy will not be tolerated if you do end you in one my lectures. Now come now, both of you boys." Sir Neglalius turned and started to walk off, leading the class. He turned around for a slight second and gave even a small chuckly. His eyes met Xanebes. "I dar say that you may even do better then our little talent there." With a smirk, Sir Negalius turned away.

Xanebes do better than me? Say what? Ellibereth was dumbfounded for a few seconds, before running foward to join the crowd. Turning back to Xanebes he could only say weakly, "We made it? Right?" His footsetps trudged on foward with the rest of the group, not really paying attention to where they were headed.

Nicole Aquil- Lome Mountains

As Nicole fell, she contorted her body so that her head was facing downwards and her feet were pointed towards the sky. She spread her arms out to her sides, reveling in the feeling of the wind rushing past her body. Lazily, she began to spin in circles, hardly taking notice of the fact that the ground was coming closer every second. As she spun through the air, her mind turned to the letter she had left on the desk, and the reason why she was now plummeting towards the Lome Mountains at insane speeds. Specifically, her mind turned to the contents of the letter.

Hey, family. What's up? By the time you get this, I'll be gone. You should probably consider it your own fault. After all, you were the guys who refused to tell me anyhting about the world. Anytime I asked about other countries, you shooed me away. Anytime I asked about other races, you told me not to think about it. FOR 20 YEARS. So, I decided that I would find out on my own. I went to the library and picked up a map. I'm off to explore the world, mom and dad. Don't worry about me. There's nothing else you can do for me. I'm lost to you guys for a long time. I'll be back in a few years. See ya.

Still falling, Nicole forced a grimace onto her face. I guess I was a little harsh. Nicole mentally shook her head. Y'know, because its impossible to do while falling at hig speeds. No. They deserved every one of those words. They should know how they made me feel. Say... that ground is getting awfully close. Deciding she had spent enough time reminiscing, Nicole slowly began to unfold her wings, taking care not to get them caught in the updraft. This had to be done correctly, or else her wings wold get ripped off of her back. Moving from her swan dive position to a horizontal one, she slowly stuck her wings out to her sides and slowed down as they began to catch the air. Deciding that the time was right, she extended her wings completely and began to glide. With one flap of her wings, she rose into the air an began to fly south, where she could just see a line of green over the peaks of the Lome Mountains.

Ryvva - Casa

She knew the way to the Palace, every Gato did. Besides, even if you didn't know where it was, you couldn't miss it. It was the biggest, most beautifully decorated house in the entire town, conveniently located in the centre of town. Ryvva made her way through the busy streets, pushing aside curious bystanders who either wanted to congratulate her on her kill or take a closer look at the dead body.

As she reached the Palace, the guards asked no questions, but instead allowed her to walk right past. Good, Hylag sent word. That'll makes things easier. She knew where the throne room was, she had been there before. The ornate doors were pushed open by the Gato standing guard, she didn't know him. Then, she walked through into the dimly lit room.

There she was, on the far side of the room. One of the most beautiful Gato to ever live. She had beautiful, long, striped black striped fur and bright blue eyes. Truly a sight for sore eyes. Despite her appearance, she was also the sweetest, gentlest Ryvva had ever met. Though it wasn't the first time they met, she still approached her with her head bowed.

"Ryvva. Please come in."

"Yes, your Majesty." Ryvva walked up to the Queen's throne and threw down the body in front of her. A judgemental look appeared on the Queen's face.

"Now now Ryvva, surely you didn't have to torture him like that before ending his life. That's just... inhuman." the Queen said, lacking a better word.

"Your Majesty, he set a trap for me and caught me! He wanted to sell me, saying people pay good money for a living Gato specimen!" A dark look came across the Queen's face. "Really, " she said, "Now that is concerning. Did he also mention why?"

"No, your majesty, just that people 'in the circuit' pay well."

"Hmmm." The Queen got up, and started to walk around, pondering their options. "We must investigate this strange turn of events. For decades, the hunters came here for the game, not for us. Something changed, and it's imperative we find out wh..."

"Stop right there, Gracie." A bellowing voice suddenly filled the room, and from the shadows, the Tom stepped forward.

A strange couple they were. Gracie, the Queen, one of the most beautiful creatures ever to grace the island of Beatitis, and Thomas, a once feral Gato who was found in the jungle as a young lion years ago. Now more or less civilised, he still looked like he would attack you for no reason, and he was still the best fighter in the entire town of Gato, as portrayed by his rugged appearance and plethora of scars.

"We will not investigate anything. If it is war they want, they can have it."

"But, my beloved," replied Gracie with a scared look, "no one wins if that happens. They...they are smarter than most of us. We're just strong and act on instinct, they have their intellect."

"Silence woman." Thomas was determined to have his way, as he was used to. "We will speak of it no more. I will inform our kind that they need to be more careful." With that, the Tom walked out the door.

Addressing Ryvva, Gracie spoke in a soft voice, hoping that he wouldn't hear. "No use trying to convince him, once he sets his mind to something. This is not an order, just a friendly request. Would you please try to find out what you can about the recent interest in living Gato? No matter what he says, I still think we should know."

Ryvva bowed her head, excited about the amount of trust the Queen had in her. "Ofcourse, your Majesty. I will do what I can."

Seth - Outside Myr
He had finally reached the outpost, and wasn't the least bit surprised to find that the sandstone town had been abandoned. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a rather portly fellow sneaking around behind the houses. Seth ignored him, however, and continued to walk slowly down the main road of the village. He heard a woman scream, followed by the unmistakable shriek of a hieracosphinx, and dashed to the other side of the village, where the sounds came from.
The hieracosphinx was located just outside of the village, where the dirt and dust of the ground turned back into sand, and the road back into sun-baked rock. It had its back turned to Seth, and was busy gorging itself on the body of a man. A woman lay underneath its taloned forearm, and while there were no obvious wounds, the vacant stare in her eyes told Seth she was already dead. However, Seth knew they weren't alone; someone was trying to stealthily sneak up on both Seth and the hieracosphinx. Whoever that someone was, they were failing pretty badly, but Seth kept up the ruse anyway.
Better a wise fool than a foolish wiseman, he thought to himself as the raven landed on a nearby rock. Seth pulled out the spellbook from his back pocket, flipped to one of the bookmarked pages, and began muttering the incantation within. When he had finished, a strange, sort of hazy disturbance called an ether formed in the air above the raven. It wasn't tangible, it was barely even visible, but anyone with any sort of magical attunement could feel its existance. Within moments of appearing, however, the ether sunk into the raven, who stood still as a statue on its rocky perch. Once the spell was complete, Seth slid the tiny spellbook back into his back pocket, and continued to watch the hieracosphinx intently while it ate.

Then, as if some silent timer had finished ticking, both Seth and the raven turned around at once to face the portly man. He froze in mid-step some ten metres away, evidently suprised and shocked that the youth and his bird had discovered him. The portly man was dressed in light beige shorts, with a light beige no-sleeve shirt to match. Seth glared at the man, but showed no emotion on his face other than with his eyes. He silently pushed up his glasses using his pointer and ring fingers of his right hand, then began to mutter a long stream of words in a whisper. The portly man gasped when he realized Seth was casting a spell, then smirked with a very idiotic look on his face when he saw the raven perched nicely on the rock beside Seth. With speed unseemly of a man so portly, the man ran straight at the raven.
"I don't know how you're casting a spell without a book, but I know you weakness, Familliar mage!" The man exclaimed, a knowing grin plastered all over his pasty, pugy, repugnant face. The man stuck his right hand out, and placed it excitedly on top of the raven's head.
"You see, all I gotta do is deconstruc- wha? Huh?" The man let go of the raven's head, and stared at it with a confused look. His opponents seemed just full of surprises today.
At that moment, Seth's spell had finished, and the second ether seeped into the raven like the first.
"You can't deconstruct what doesn't have a Familliar essence. Shinikage's a real raven, dumass." Without giving the portly man time to let his words sink in, Seth whistled.

In a flurry of feathers, Shinikage flew straight at the man's face, and a moment later eight near-vertical gashes, each of which looked like they were caused by steel daggers, appeared on the man's face. The man screamed in agony, with blood dripping down his face and into his eyes. He instinctively brought his hands to his face, attempting to wipe the blood away, while trying to run away blind. Shinikage didn't give him a chance to get far, however, and bashed into the side of his head, whacking the man's temple with his breast feathers. Rather than being hit with a bunch of feathers and bones, however, the man felt more like a steel plate had bashed into his head. Needless to say, he soon found himself lying on the ground dazed, and slipped into unconsciousness.

All the commotion had attracted the attention of the hieracosphinx, however, and the great beast left its meals to address the two intruders. Seth fumbled for his spellbook, while his heart began to beat rapidly and his hands began to sweat profusely. Looking into those grotesque eyes, the dull black shark-like eyes of a hieracosphinx, was like looking into the eyes of the devil himself. But before the hieracosphinx could finish assessing whether Seth was a threat or simply more food, Shinikage flew over its back, raking six dagger-like gashes across the sphinx's shoulder blades. Agitated, the hieracosphinx turned its head towards Shinikage and shrieked at the raven, while some blood from its food leaked out of its hawk-like beak.

Seth was once again thankful for Shinikage's help, as he was now free of the hieracosphinx's hypnotic gaze. He quickly flipped open to a different bookmarked page in his spellbook, and focussed so intently on the words he was looking at that the rest of the world seemed to fade out of existance. All that existed was the words on the page, and Seth's throat which recited them. The game of cat-and-sparrow that Shinikage was playing with the sphinx was completely ignored by Seth's brain. As the youth quickly recited the many lines of the incantation, Shinikage made repeated dives at the hieracosphinx, while the sphinx swatted at the raven, attempting to snatch him down and tear the raven to bits. The sphinx wouldn't eat Shinikage, since sphinxes only seemed to eat humans. But Shinikage was being a pest, and so the hieracosphinx wanted to kill him simply for being annoying and in the way.

Finally, the spell was complete. Unlike the first two spells, this one caused three white orbs about the size of a cantelope to begin spinning around Seth's waist at a high speed. After barely a second, however, the orbs shot out towards Shinikage, and were absorbed like the ethers. The instant they were absorbed, Shinikage's feathers began glowing with a black aura. Seth whistled twice in rapid-fire, signalling to Shinikage that the spell had completed. The raven caawed, and a malicious look entered his eyes. Shinikage altered his path, so that his dive took him in front of the sphinx instead of towards its back. He flew by, and despite the hieracosphinx trying to catch him in its talons, Shinikage's dive and swoop was too fast. The raven then turned around in mid-air, and with a few powerful strokes of his glowing black wings, Shinikage flew straight at the sphinx's head. The strange bird-cat demon swatted its talons through the air at Shinikage, but the sphinx's talons dissolved when they came in contact with the black aura around Shinikage's feathers. Shinikage didn't alter his course or speed at all, but instead flew straight through the hieracosphinx, dissolving it from beak to tail.

Seth sighed, and sat down against the rock, while the hieracosphinx vanished from existance. All that remained was a glowing white orb, much like a shiny pearl but about the size of an apple, that floated in the air. After a second or two, the orb too faded away, leaving no trace that the hieracosphinx had ever been there. Shinikage landed on the rock, and Seth looked up at his companion. The glowing aura had stopped, and Shinikage once more looked like a raven. Seth took off his glasses, and examined them critically. He wiped off a speck of dust on his shirt, then looked at the lenses again.
"Oh," He stated, and smiled sheepishly up at Shinikage as he put his glasses back on.
"Apperently there actually wasn't a 'Q' in that last word after all, it was just a speck of dust. No wonder your talons only left flesh wounds." Shinikage stared back down at Seth, and gave him a look that screamed 'Unimpressed'. Seth shrugged pitifully under the baleful gaze of the raven.
"Eh, what can I say? We still won in the end, and that new defensive ether worked wonders! It's like your feathers had actually turned in to armour! I was worried it might slow you down, but you didn't seem that hampered by it," Seth remarked, attempting to change the subject. Shinikage shook his head from side to side quicky, as if to sy, 'No, it didn't really affect my ability to fly at all'. Seth looked relieved, and stood up, having finally regained the strength in his legs after casting three spells rapid-fire.
"So, back to Myr? I really could use a nice, hot, long, bath after all these desert 'adventures', and I'm sure she'll have a rat or something for you," Seth suggested, then began walking back the way they came. He didn't even look twice at the two corpses or the portly man, since clean-up wasn't his job. Well, technically it was, but it was clean-up of a different sort; the human carnage left behind wasn't his responsibility.

Zane Vergudas - On the road from Shakõ to Ekido

The carriage shook Zane around wildly and his halflong blond hair with him. He was sitting in the back along with the cargo of the carriage, that was said to transport silk. However, Zane knew very well that there wasn't mere silk in these crates but he didn't care. Thanks to the trade his uncle did he could life an easy and prosperous life without any worries. He was favoured by the Creators because he was special and that is why he was born into this wealth. He looked out of the open back of the carriage, at the trade route that they left behind them. It was one large cemented road that was for everyone and everything: carriages, pedestrians, those by horseback, ... The mountains had disappeared since they were now getting close to the bridge however, one could still, barely, see the mountains in the distance. Although Zane enjoyed living in his wealth back in Shakõ, he somehow enjoyed travelling more as it soothed him. This, however, was much to the dislike of his uncle who couldn't understand it although he still allowed Zane to go along with the transports nonetheless.

Suddenly, Zane heard shouting behind him. The two guards that were accompanying the driver were the ones doing it and abruptly the carriage stopped. Zane quickly jumped out and headed to the front only to see a group of men dressed in rags emerging from pits that were dug next to the trade route. The Zetsubians? They shouldn't be allowed to leave from behind the mountain range ... How are they here? Zane gritted his teeth as he saw the 2 guards that were supposed to be guarding the carriage flee along with the driver. Zane picked up one of the swords that the guard left behind and held it up in front of him pointed at the approaching men. It was surprisingly heavy which surprised him, since it was the first time he had held a sword. Because of that very reason a single swipe from one of the men their sticks and the sword was knocked out of his hands and Zane then lost consciousness in a second swipe to his head.

Zane shot up out of the bed, or atleast what resembled a bed if your were poor. He looked around him and noted that we was lying under two plates that were crudely put together at the top in a triangle shape and that he was lying on some old worn out pieces of cloth. He didn't know where he was but when he looked in front of him and saw the same men in rags with some women and children sit around a small fire. The temperature was substantially lower in this place than in Shakõ and Zane felt a chill run up his spine as a small gust of wind blew over him. As he sat there looking at those people he slowly realised where he was and also what happened. Some of the Zetsubians, the name that is given to the poor scum on Reijusuki, had raided the transport and had now captured him, most likely to ask his uncle for ransom money.

"Oh, you're awake." Zane jumped at the voice, which caught him completely caught him off guard. He quickly stood up and looked behind him at the small girl that spoke to him earlier. She seemed about 18 and had long blond hair that was filled with knits, she wore the same rags that were coloured brown with dirt as all the rest. Her beautiful green eyes stared at Zane and in those eyes he could see a feeling that he just couldn't place his finger on what it was. "Don't worry, you're not a prisoner here and we won't hurt you. Have this." She held out her hands in which was a stone bowl filled with some water. "Your throat must be dry, don't worry ... We have plenty of water." Zane looked at the bowl in disgust, as if it was the dirtiest thing he'd ever seen. "Don't you have ... Glass bowls here?" Zane looked up and met her gaze again, although he was forced to look away because somehow it made him feel pity for her. "... You do know where you are right?" Her voice was more hesistent now and just in the same way Zane was starting to feel pity for her he now felt the need to apologise to here for making her uncomfortable. "Among the Zetsubians, right?" Zane forced himself to look at her again and saw her nod. Zane then turned around and walked out of the construction that one couldn't exactly call a house. She followed him and tried to say something before he could make it to the circle of people sitting around the small fire but, she was too late.

"Alright, who's the leader here?" Zane looked at the circle and noticed how everyone quickly looked away from him and women were trying to make their children avert their gaze from him as if they all feared him. A tall, broad shouldered man got up and walked towards Zane. "Ah so you are awake! Mayb- " Zane quickly interrupted the man. "Why did you bring me here? How dare you poor disgusting pigs drag a man like me of noble desc---" He stopped mid sentence and noticed how everyone was looking at him. He noticed they all had that same feeling as the girl reflected in her eyes. He felt stupid for not knowing what it was first, but now he did and he felt even more stupid for what he was about to say. He finally realised what the feeling was ...

Hunger.

Maelstrom - Northern Nichtfallen

"The world is rotten." Maelstrom's third cousin, Deruhma, spoke the words spitefully. The pair were gazing out from their perch in the Northern Nichtfallen; they had a wonderful view of the mainland. In his twelve years of existence, never understood what could be so rotten about it. The lush green grass, the powder-white snow... It all seemed so hauntingly beautiful from there. There is much I do not understand, thought the dragon, craning his serpentine neck towards Deruhma. He watched as his elder of nearly two-thousand years scooped up a massive rock of sulfur, and swallow it. She then noisily exhaled, a napalm of flames released from her nostrils and the seems between her razor-sharp fangs.

"Cousin, I do not understand," his gaze riveted back towards the mainland. "In my twelve years of life, I learned the secrets of this world. I know what lies beyond the rim, and I've explored the Nichtfallen as I pleased. The depths of the ocean keep no secret from me, yet I am still ignorant..." his voice trailed off, and his mourning gaze turned back to Deruhma, who sighed.

"Maelstrom, I have flown the skies and walked the earth for two millenniums. My accomplishments exceed yours by far, yet I've managed so without visiting the mainland, as you are insinuating should be done." explained Maelstrom's cousin, unfolding her wings to stretch them. "There is one thing you know of the land of men, and that it isn't a place such as this. The sentient beings there have not yet found meaning to their existence, if they yet have one. We are the kin of fire, and Life was bestowed upon us to either reap destruction," she paused, gesturing towards the mainland. "Or be the Great Guardians of the Barrier. We are the Gatekeepers of Life's Cottage, and that is our purpose- Your purpose."

"But there is nothing to guard, cousin!" exclaimed Maelstrom. Deruhma chuckled, as if she was in on a secret he didn't know of.

"Indeed. On the surface of things, it seems there is little of value here. But sometimes, it is not about guarding something of value that is important, but rather, being a valuable guard, so that when that thing comes along that needs guarding, there is no question."

"You speak in riddles," grumbled Maelstrom, turning around to take flight. He was getting weary of his cousin's company. As he deployed his scarlet-scaled wings and took off, Deruhma chuckled again. A secret he didn't know of, she knew.

Marcus Domitius Aquilinus and Ruhk - Myr

"Worried that the commoners will gape uncontrollably at them?" Ruhk said as he walked over to Marcus's horse and smoothly slipped up into the saddle. Marcus meanwhile stood staring at Ruhk with cool eyes as Ruhk gently turned the horse around and started back down the street towards the busier sections of town. Shaking his head softly Marcus began trotting along behind despite the fact that he was still wearing what constituted as a full set of armor for a legionary.

As they turned a corner Marcus looked briefly back towards where they had found the man and saw a group of children glaring back at them.

"Ruhk..." Marcus said quietly.

"Yes I know, don't look back, we're almost out." Ruhk said as they saw a group of guardsmen on a corner a couple blocks away.

Lucifer Black - Myr

"Commoners...?" Lucifer muttered. "Nah... It's the wolves..." with that, he drifted into unconsciousness, where he dreamed soundly of flying through the skies without fear or worry. Of course, that wasn't the case. It would never be the case. Lucifer Black, the winged-vampire, was unaware of the events he had set into motion that afternoon. His life, and many others, would soon be changed.

Maelstrom - Northern Nichtfallen

The hulking figure of the hatchling arose from the river of fire and made its way towards the dark, desolate shoreline. Maelstrom deployed his wings and shook off the remainder of lava on his scales, which rained upon the stony ground like hellfire- though it cooled off and hardened momentarily afterwards.

Maelstrom sighed in exasperation, small jets of flame shooting out of his nostrils as he did so. The dragon was most utterly depressed; how could Deruhma have said those things? Did she honestly think a dragon wanting to explore the mainland would become a menace? How could she possibly know anything?

She’s just frightened, thought Maelstrom, grinding a sulphur stone in his jaw. Upon consumption, the stones exclusive to the Nichtfallen allowed the dragonkind to exhale fire, a powerful weapon. Consuming the fiery imps and afrits of the Nitchtfallen required hardly any hunting. Besides, the sulphur stones tasted better –in Maelstrom’s opinion- and provided well more than enough food for the dragons. There were only four-hundred of them in the entire ring, in any case. Maelstrom was the youngest, though still quite sizable compared to a human.

I must not listen to her… I must go to the mainland. I have a higher calling than to guard what needn’t guarding…

----

Maelstrom stood at the edge of the Nichtfallen- the side facing the mainland, the ocean, and all its wonders which would soon be his to explore. He would leave to Nichtfallen, meet humans and other creatures alike. Soon, nothing would hold secrets from him. He would everything. His thirst for knowledge would not be quenched.

The dragon deployed his wings, stared over at the speck of mountains in the distance, and soared.

Maelstrom, the dragon, was unaware of the events he had set into motion that afternoon. His life, and many others, would soon be changed.

Ryvva - Casa

She knew exactly were she would start. The dead hunter's body. Surely he would have something on him that could point her in the right direction. Taking the corpse back out of the throne room and onto the streets, she headed to their graveyard. What a flattering name that was, really. It was nothing more than a big, deep pit, a mass grave, a place where they left their kills, periodically buried under a layer of dirt to combat the horrible smell. Upon arriving, she nodded to the Gato charged with overseeing the graveyard. No words needed to be exchanged. Before she threw the body onto the others in the pit below, she went through the hunter's pockets. More knives, fish wire, the boar's fangs, how ironic. Here we go, that's more like it. From his inside pocket, she pulled a half torn map that was shredded when she attacked. Fortunately, all the pieces were still there and she was able to reassemble it. Ofcourse. How delightfully predictable.

She liked being in the jungle. Though she was of one of the less ferocious species of felines, bigger Gato often called her a housecat, she liked being in the jungle as much as any of them. It felt as if it was the place where she belonged, running through bushes and trees on all fours, feeling the brushing of branches across her fur. At full speed, she headed to her destination. The map couldn't have been more obvious. Every Gato knew the island as the back of its hand, and the place she was going was one of the bigger landmarks. The natural bay on the other part of the island. It provided ships with a perfect place to anchor, away from the seas and any possible storms.

Approaching the bay, she could smell the humans long before she could see or even hear them. Human filth. They are a poison. However, once she was close enough to visually confirm the presence of humans, she stopped right in her tracks. Before her, a Gato's worst nightmare. The humans had built an entire camp, a village even, on their island, surrounded by a wooden wall. The severed heads of slain Gato were put on display, partly as a warning, partly purely for their entertainment.

How...how is this possible? How can this be here? Why didn't anyone report this? Why didn't anyone miss those men?

Puzzled, and with more questions than ever, Ryvva laid low and waited for night to fall.

Ellibereth Asmodeus, Wizard's Dome.

The place the seminar was taking place in looked like a mini-stadium. Sir Neglalius stood alone in the middle, while students sat on bleachers around him. The central area where the teacher stood was quite large, large enough to fit all the students and then some.
Ellibereth hadn't really been there during the walk, his mind floating away, his feet just following the crowd. He had managed to situate himself somewhere in the back of the bleachers. Sitting down, Ellibereth listened as Neglalius began to drone. Ellibereth promptly reacted and began to space out. He caught glimpses of the words, segments like:
“And then when the energy transmutates into the…”
“An Art where the actual bodypow…”
“Familiarial Magic is nece…”

Around only 10 minutes in, Ellibereth had dropped into his own world, managing somehow to recreate a portion of each of the seven sins.

Well, maybe not this one…

So as it goes, Ellibereth was asleep and away from the world when the practical portion finally started after who knows how long. Sir Neglalius had stopped speaking and took a breathe. The lecture introducing necromancy and the basic concepts behind had taken well over an hour. After a quick gulp of water he began speaking once more. The asleep wizard in training, one of 12 who could use 3 forms, heard absolutely nothing.

“Now everyone, get up, we’re going to begin the more practical portion of the seminar and one of the most important and essential parts of necromancy. I speak of course, of digging up the corpse.”

“Now everyone, get up, we’re going to begin the more practical portion of the seminar and one of the most important and essential parts of necromancy. I speak of course, of digging up the corpse.” finally announced Sir Siegbard Neglalius, ending that portion of the seminar. The students in the auditorium all rose to their feet, and started to follow the stout wizard. Amongst them, there were two exceptions: Ellibereth was lazily reclined in his seat, looking as if he had just been awaken. As a matter of fact, he seemed to have been deep in thought for almost the whole time. It was a shame he had fallen asleep near the end. Xanebes had been paying very close attention, even though he yearned to become a conjurer.

Although he wasn't so passionately eager to dig up corpses, as opposed to so many others in the room. So that's what he meant, earlier, thought Xanebes, promptly turning towards Ellibereth, his lips pursed and his eyes wide-open in what could be interpreted as shock. He grabbed his friend by the shoulders and shook him until he seemed 'more awake'.

"Let's ditch." he said, trying his best to conceal his fear. "This'll probably be boring," he paused, deciding it would be best to open up. "And I'm terrified of dead bodies."

As a matter of fact, Xanebes was necrophobic. He couldn't bear the sight of rotting corpses, particularly. He would do anything to get clear of the seminar.

Nadia -Wizard's Dome, Alexgilesonia Haliphesus

"Um... But isn't it Ellibereth's dream to be a necromancer?" A shy, quiet, feminine voice inquired from one of the seats behind Ellibereth and Xanebes. The girl speaking was, of course, Nadia, one of the 13. Her long, straight, raven-black hair reached well below her shoulders, and along with her almost-black eyes, was in stark contrast to her fair, pale skin.
"You're not a... Not a very nice friend," She managed to stammer out, before grabbing her books and running up to the top of the auditorium, where she proceeded to gaze out over the rest of the Wizard's Dome. She was trembling slightly, as if she had done something that was now coming back to haunt her, and had to grip the railing at one point to keep herself standing upright.
No, not a nice friend at all. Who would trample on their friend's dream? If Ellibereth fails to become a necromancer, it should be because of his own lackadaisical attitude, not because of some pompus jerk of a friend who thinks their fear is more important than Ellibereth's dream! Oh how Nadezhda wanted to shout these things to Xanebes, but she had already said too much. It was too much, too fast. Her subconscious was screaming at her, scolding her for interacting with others.
They don't want to hear your thoughts, she thought to herself. They don't want you. You'll just get in the way of their life. Just stick to the academics, and leave the politics to the professionals.

Xanebes - Wizard's Dome, Alexgilesonia Haliphesus

Xanebes recoiled, an almost hurt expression on his face. For one, even though he was bigger than the others, that didn't make him emotionally strong. He watched as Nadia ran up to the top of the auditorium, then he craned his neck towards Ellibereth.

"Uh... We don't ha- have to ditch..." he gulped. "... If you don't... Want to." his necrophobia was intense. If he had to continue on with the seminar, Ellibereth would be the one digging. Oh- that Nadia is right! I wouldn't be a good friend... But I don't want to see dead bodies... hope-filled eyes stared down at Elli.

Ellibereth Asmodeus - Wizard's Dome

Ellibereth was rudely and roughly awakened. Emphasis on roughly. His mind wasn't registering yet as Xanebes shook im back and forth like a rag doll. He caught fragments once more, most noticeably, "Let's ditch". Xanebes seemed to have finished talking and Ellibereth was about to open his mouth and give an affirmative, when yet another student butted it. One that Ellibereth had heard of , but didn't really know.
The Undead sighed heavily after the quick exchange concerning friendship and not ditching. As he stood up he turned to Xanebes after a quick stretch and a yawn and he quickly noted Xanebes's nervousness.

"It's fine...you can ignore Nadesa, Natasha, Nadezga or whatever her name is. I'm bored as hell too and this is all trivial crap." Ellibereth scratched his head one and corrected his comment. "Well, don't ignore her, she's a 3-former like me, but just ignore her when she's all...Ah never mind, you know what I mean..."
Ellibereth gestured for Xanebes to follow him as he walked to the exit to the auditorium that Nadia had left seconds earlier. Sir Neglalius, much further down, turned his head up and began shouting up

"Leaving already Mr. Asmodeus? Don't you understand how vital and important this practical training is? The dig.."

"It's OK Sir, you told me what to do already when I ever need to get a corpse up." Just before Ellibereth left Sir Neglalius's sight line, he turned back with an arrogant smirk and gestured toward Xanebes. "Get him to do it, he does it better than me!" On that note, Ellibereth passed out the exit with a lazy and sleepy smile.

Ugh. Men. No, just Ellibereth. He's just... It's infuriating! How could someone so... idiotic be one of the 13!? Nadia sighed and looked around, noticing how the class was slowly moving on to the practical part of the lesson.
Digging up bodies in teams, huh? I'll pass on that... Quietly, Nadezhda slipped out of the auditorium, unknowingly following Ellibereth back up to the surface.

Ellibereth and Xanebes - Wizard's Dome

As the two stepped out of the seminor-stadium to the surface they were more or less quiet. Neither really talked much as they walked into areas filled with more arificial sunlight, ignoring Xanebes's revealed necrophilia. The gentle giant broke the pretty much awkaward silence. His voice was at first a mumble, but it grew firmer as the topic changed. "Thanks for getting out of there...it wouldn't have been very pretty at all..." Here Xanabes stopped for a breathe before continuing. "Who was that girl anyways? You said that she's like you...is she really that poweful? That was pretty wierd, her just randomly going off like that."

Ellibereth still held his everlasting dull "I-wish-I-were-somewhere-else-look anwsered in a more colorful voice than his face showed. "I don't know much about her, I still can't remember her name anyway. If you want to know anything, why don't you just ask her yourself? I think she ended up ditching that crap too!" Ellibereth gestured behind him with his finger as he turned around, pointing to the girl that had followed them up.

Nadia froze, her eyes gaining a look of shock as the two would-be mages turned around to face her.
Oh, I can explain! I was just- and then that- and my house is- flying badgers? No, they want to know whether I'm powerful, not why I'm following them. Ok. You can do this, Nadezhda! Just open your mouth... say something intelligent... and no mumbling! Nadia moved closer to Xanebes and Ellibereth, her movements so smooth it was as if she were gliding over the ground, then stopped when she was a few feet away from the pair.
"It's... It's not... It's not crap, Ellibereth. If you want to be a real necromancer, you have to... yeah..." Her voice, while strong at the start, quickly died on her, and after only one and a half sentences Nadia had gone silent again, and was subtly backing up from Xanebes and Ellibereth. She averted her gaze, preferring to look at the ground rather than the humans before her.
Tempest
Nicole Aquil- Lome Mountains

Nicole once again flapped her wings and soared over the peaks of the Lome Mountains. As she flew, she was struck by the beauty of the mounds of rock below her. Most looked at the mountains as little more than an obstacle, but to Nicole, they were her home. Tearing her gaze away from the mountains, she instead turned her eyes ahead of her, where the plains of Terra Sanctae were growing larger to her left, and a dark green line that was the forests of Hasselbad laid to her right. Squinting slightly to block out the sun's glare , Nicole also noticed what seemed to be a small black cloud that was growing larger and larger as she flew. Unable to prouduce an expression of confusion on her face due to the wind, she settled for squinting harder. Withing a few seconds, she could make out what appeared to be many pairs of eyes and wings inside of the cloud. What the...? A streak of terror flashed through her eyes. Oh, hell. By the time she realized what it was, the cloud was taking up almost her entire field of vision. Panicking, she came to a quick stop, her wings flaring up behind her and stretching to their full span. Nicole quickly unsheathed both her daggers and held them up in front of her body, in an X formation. She hovered there for a few seconds, then dove.

The cloud followed her. As she dove towards the ground, Nicole berated herself mentally. Damn it, Nicole. This is when the Quenar come back after hunting. Damn, damn, damn! Nicole took a sharp left and flew through a pass between two small mountains. The cloud of Quenar quickly followed suit. The chase continued for quite a while, by which time Nicole was almost exhausted, stretching her endurance to its limits. She had never flown for this long at such intensity and speed, and it was beginning to wear her down. Finally realizing that fleeing from the ravenous beasts on her tail was pointless, she began to slow down. Crap. I never got to explore the world, meet new and exciting people, and all that jazz. I'm an idiot. Finally stopping in mid-air, she turned around and hovered there, her daggers still drawn, ready to fight to the death. However, somehting made her stop. Her race from the Quenar had brought her to the southern edges of the Lome Mountains. In the distance, along with great masses of rolling hills and a river, she could see a city. Yes! Help! However, to ehr great regret, she realized that the city was in the direction she had turned, which meant that she had to go through the Quenar to reach it. Steeling herself up, she once more took flight. She decided to go underneath the black cloud, which seemed to confuse the beasts and gave her a few seconds' peace, allowing her to pass under without harm. However, she still had to deal with the stragglers. A few Quenar that were slower than the others stood between her and freedom. Grimacing, she made her way towards them. When she reached the first Quenar, she lashed out with one of her daggers, slicing off its wing. She repeated this process with the next three creatures, scoring hits each time. However, when she reached the final Quenar, it dashed out of her way and came in behind her, striking her wing with a talon. Nicole howled in pain and dropped to a dangerously low altitude. Blood flowed from her wing and into the air behind her, and when she turned, she realized that the rest of the Quenar were still on her tail.

Fighting through the pain, she flew on towards the city by the river. In what felt like hours but was probably more like a half-hour, she could clearly see the city. A glimmer of hope emerged within her. This glimmer was quickly eradicated however, by a tingling at her foot. She realized that the Quenar ahd caught up to her. She also realized that she was beginning to move slower. Making a quick decision, she dove even lower, so that her face was almost touching the grass. The quenar followed suit. Nicole looked ahead at the city, muttered a small prayer of thanks, and flew on. She soon felt the tingling at ehr feet grow to a full-fledged vibrating and, with an exclamation of pain, a bite. She lost ehr stability, which was already hampered by the hours of flying and the blood loss from her wounded wing, and dropped to the ground. Her inertia caused her to slide across the grass, heading towards the city gates which, she realized with a whimper, she was about to crash into. Closing her eyes, she made contact. Before she lost consciousness, she heard the cries of people and shouts of "fire!" and experienced the feeling that she was being lifted up and carried. Then, she blacked out.

Ellibereth, Wizard's Dome

"Nadezhga, Nadesh...Nad!" Ellibereth decided to just call Nadia that, he knew that was the first syllable of her name at least. "Seriously, you need to learn how to talk better." The Undead boy had his head lazily tucked behind his crossed arms. He looked straight down at Nadia's downcast eyes.
"I mean, how do you expect to function around others and society like this?" Ellibereth stopped talking and noticed the distance that was getting slowly larger as Nadia backed up one small step at a time. The Undead rolled his eyes as he spoke again. "Nad...Nadezhda." In a burst of memory Ellibereth remembered the girl's name.
"We've been in the same class for 6 years, went to that special meeting with the other 3+form users our age, and I still no absolutely nothing about you."
Ellibereth stopped talking for a quick breathe. "I mean, come on." Ellibereth was grinning a little bit now, but not much. "It's about the same thing as my horrible attitude I know you were just thinking about."

Yeah, to the park. Good plan. Lots of nature, not many people, it's a good place to try and converse. If... if that's what Ellibereth wants.

A Cloaked Stranger - Masal Desert

The desert sand rose and swirled across the air, drifting up and down along with the wind. The worn roads of travel within the Masal Desert were barely visible now, the effects of the all-mighty power of erosion. The roads were not roads anymore, but merely directions. Away from the large cities, demons, thieves, robbers, and other outcasts of a larger society infested to pray on the weak who wandered into the sandy depths. It is never wise though, to rob every passerby you see.
Amongst the sand a figure of medium height stood. The color of that cloak that covered him, it's color was not clear. One would first see black, then white, then it would just fade into the color of the sand. The cloak was not red or crimson, the figure was not red or crimson, but the ground around him was.

"So...weak..." The man, no, the boy surveyed the three bodies that were scattered in heaps around him. He stepped delicated around the scene, his foot avoiding the blood.
"The desert will devour them, those fools, those who cannot feel an aura of the highest level."
Under the boy's arm was tucked a spell book which was tucked within his cloak. He felt no satisfaction from killing the weak, he believed those "insects", they would die off anyway.
As he walked further, following the eroded path toward his destination, Myr. If one listened closely to the sand, to the wind, to the natural forces around him, they would hear whispers of the same word all flowing around the endless sand.

Shinikage gave a woeful Caaw, while at the same time a cold shiver ran up Seth's spine. The Sanctaen froze in place, while goosebumps spread across his entire being.
What is this... feeling? It's like the sun just died... As if to emulate Seth's notion, a rather forboding cloud passed in front of the sun, which was already fairly low on the horizon. Seth could feel that this sense of foreboding, this wave of pure death, was flowing towards him, yet his muscles refused to obey. He tried to force himself to run, but his feet seemed glued to the road beneath him. Eventually, all he could do was turn around, turn around and stare head-on at the figure walking down the road...

Ellibereth, Wizard's Dome

Ellibereth sighed as Nadia began to sutter again. He covered his face with his hand, facepalming. "You could have just said "Do you want to go to the park to talk?" or something like that instead of pointing." Ellibereth gestured for Xanebes to follow him as he prepared to follow Nadia to the park. The only problem was that Nadia wasn't heading to the park, she was just standing there very still. The Undead couldn't help but facepalm one more time as he started muttering to himself.
"What the heck is this girl doing..."
Why am I even bothering around with this...not that I have much better to do, There is still some time before I'm scheduled to go back down to Ausleben...but seriously, what the hell is wrong with this Girl? First this, then that, then I have no idea what's going on and the whole thing is just so...bleh...
There was of course, following a probably awkward moment as neither Nadia nor Ellibereth were moving toward the Park in anyway. One for reasons unknown, but the other just too plain lazy, respectively. One has to feel very bad for Xanebes though...

Xeon - Masal Desert

Xeon continued his slow stroll across the worn paths toward Myr. A light twinkle of magic energy brushed across him and underneath the hood that covered his face, a flash of white grinning teeth could be seen.
"Another person in the way, it seems this one knows magic though, Kishishishishi, this will be fun."
Xeon continued walking foward at a slow, measured pace. His cloak fluttered in the wind, the light brown color of sand, and he slowly stopped in a halt, around 5 yards in front of where Seth stood.

"A fellow traveler." Xeon's voice was smooth and soft as he spoke to Seth. "You seem to be on the way to Myr as well, but may I ask why you're standing so still in my way?"
A flash of two red eyes shown from under the low-covering hood, and Xeon's hand reached out from under his hood and pointed at the Raven he saw before him.
"That's a familiar no? And it looks living...interesting fellow you are...a very interesting fellow..."

What is going on? This kid is barely my age, and yet... those eyes... Is he some kind of demon? Or just some kind of prodigy? And what is this aura?
"I'm- and you- Yes, he's-" Seth's voice refused to work in conjunction with his mind, however, and as a last resort his subconscious did the one thing it knew how to do. In a low, unemotional whisper, Seth began to recite a spell.

After standing there awkwardly for quite a while, Nadia took a deep breath and stepped forward, towards the path to the park. Slowly, ever so slowly, she took another step. Looking at Ellibereth, she asked,

Xanebes cleared his throat. "So... That was some seminar, huh?" he chuckled. His comment didn't help much to break the silence.

Nicole Aquil-Bandora

Nicole's eyes snapped open, and she immediately shot straight up. A split-second after she sat up, an immense pain shot through her head, making her feel as if her cranium was in the process of being cracked open like an egg. Her vision, still blurred from sleep, caught the blurry outline of two people on either side of the bed in which she had been laying, outlines which soon came into focus as tears flooded her eyes. As the pain and tears subsided, Nicole realized that she hadn't breathed since she woke up, and took a deep, shuddering breath. As oxygen flooded her lungs, she finally took in her surroundings. She was in a small room, sitting in a bed, covered by a single white sheet. By her left side, there was a nightstand, on top of which were her daggers, her belt, and her bag. There was a door directly ahead of her bed. The room seemed to be deep inside a building, as there were no windows, and the walls were made of rock. One figure that stood by her bed, knelt down beside her and put his hand on her arm. He was quite old. He was completely bald and had a flowing white beard, as well as green eyes. He spoke. "Whoa! Calm down. When you hit our gates, it seems your head snapped back and hit as well. No need to be worried. I'm the doctor here," he added, as Nicole had shot him a scared glance. "Now. Can I know your name?" Nicole gulped, filling her previously dry mouth and esophagus with moisture. "My name? I- I'm Nicole." The doctor nodded. "Well, Nicole, we'll need to keep you here for today. Your head injury is nowhere near as bad as it could have been, but it's still bad. We will need to treat you and then," he shot a knowing glance to the other person beside Nicole's bed. "You will be free to go."

Nicole followed his glance, and took her first look at the other figure, to her left. He was tall, and had an imposing figure. He was heavily muscled and clean-shaven, but had thick, short-cropped, black hair. His eyes were a deep brown, and his gaze bore through Nicole when he looked at her. Disconcerted by his gaze, she looked back to the doctor, who spoke reassuringly. "This is Randolph. He was the one who carried you here and organized the counter-attack against the Quedar when he saw them coming. He will be keeping watch of you while I am gone." Nicole, cautious of the man known as Randolph, simply nodded. The doctor, apparently satisfied, began to walk towards the door, but Nicole stopped him. "Err... Doctor? Could I roll onto my front? It's uncomfortable sleeping on my back with my..." She paused, then a look of panic came across her face. "My wings! They...They weren't hurt, were they?" The doctor smiled, then shook his head. "No. Your wings were not hurt. The cut that the Quedar gave you has already begun to heal. It wasn't that deep and was, in fact, very small. You got lucky. Still, you may not want to attempt flying until your head is healed. And yes, you may roll onto your front. Me and Randolph will help you, as we do not want you to harm yourself." Nicole nodded, and Randolph pulled the sheets down to the end of the bed so that she could be rolled over. The doctor came forward and put a cautious hand on the back of her head while Nicole flipped over onto her front. She sank into the bed and sighed, apparently pleased. Randolph pulled the sheets up to her shoulders and then sat in a chair while the doctor left the room. He came back in a few minutes later with a jar of some sort of milky-white cream. He told Nicole to stay calm, and that the procedure might hurt a bit. Gently, the doctor rubbed the cream on the back of her head, attempting to reach as much skin as he could between the feathers on her head. As he did so, he spoke. "Normally, we would shave the patient's head for this procedure, but you are a unique case. We had no idea what removing your feathers would do, so you get to keep them." Nicole, relieved that she had been allowed to keep her feathers, smiled. The doctor finished applying the cream, and then spoke again. "Okay. If you wish, you may go to sleep. Try not to move your head if it is possible." And with that, he left, leaving Nicole alone with Randolph.

Ellibereth - Wizard's Dome

The Undead's arm was crossed and Ellibereth generally had quite an impatient and annoyed look on his face. The park was quite green all around, grass covered the ground with only thin stone paths to guide the way. It was much different than the very much Urban setting around them, with various trees everywhere, statues and statuettes. Ellibereth was leaning on a rather old oak tree as he just simply looked at Nadia. After arriving, there were once more, several seconds of silence until Xanebes broke the ice. He was ignored by Ellibereth though who's eyes were still looking straight at Nadia.

"Nadezdha, you wanted to come here?"
Why am I here? I don't know...I could be resting right now...stupid me, stupid, bleh...
Ellibereth was beating himself within himself once more, he didn't really know why either. He really didn't have much else to do, probably the whole situation was just ridiculous to him.

Xeon - Masal Desert

"A spell with no spell book? You truly are an interesting fellow?"
Xeon swept the hood away revealing his rather youthful face. The boy had large eyes, clear white until the two red pupils shown menacingly from within. His messy, rather spiky hair was a fair color, bordering between white and blond, blending ominously with sand that was blown around the wind. Around his eyes, clear bags could be seen, and his almost carnivorous smile shown brightly on his face.

"A spell...a spell, is this a challenge from you? It truly would be interesting to look at someone who has no need for a spell book in action...unless..." Xeon' head twisted down at an angle and his smile got wider, "You have so some sort of trick going on there?" The boy laughed as a spellbook was pulled out from within his cloak, white, and only plain white in color.
"We will soon see anyway..."

"Well, it's just- We're special, you and I. I thought- It's just- You seem like a... a nice person," Nadia's cheeks had gone from pale to red in less than three seconds, and her gaze had shifted down to her feet once more. Her arms were crossed, and though she was standing only a few feet away from Ellibereth, she felt like there was an ever-growing chasm falling apart between them. Get a grip, Nadezhda! You need to tell him! This may be your only chance. If you screw this up, there won't be any way to go back. Come on! Open your mouth! Fighting against her inner nature, Nadia opened her mouth once again and added, "Could we, um- Ellibereth, could we be friends?" She felt like either fainting or vomiting, perhaps both, but Nadia was smiling innerly, glad to have broken out of her shell for the first time.

Seth - Masal Desert
I just realized... he speaks my language. Is he a Sanctaen? Oh Gods, he doesn't even look human! How could he be a Sanctaen? Seth had finished the spell, and once more an ether sunk into Shinikage's being. It took him a second to comprehend just what he had done, and another two to realize what this strange teen was about to do in retaliation. Seth took a step back, pulling out his own spellbook in the process with his left hand, while holding the other out towards Xeon.
"Now hey, that- I didn't mean anything by it, it was just... instinct. Can't we all just be friends, or at least go our seperate ways? I mean, compared to you, I don't seem like a fair opponent!" However, Seth was ever the pessimist, so while he was trying to discourage fighting from the front, his left hand was also flipping to one of the bookmarked pages behind his back.
At least I know he's not a demon. None of the demons we've fought, or researched back at the guild HQ have ever shown signs of sentient thought. Maybe he's from the Nichtfallen? Oh! Perhaps he's one of those Lastamians? I've never seen someone who came from there, maybe they've all got sand hair and blood eyes? Although if this kid is normal for where he comes from, I'd hate to see what the abnormals look like...

Xanebes - Myr

Xanebes found himself yet once again in an awkward situation. He was quite embarassed, standing on the sideline watching Nadia admit some affection -if you can call it that- towards Ellibereth. On the other hand, Xanebes found himself to be slightly angered and hurt. Special? That's why she wants to be his friend? What am I, then? Huh? The inhumanly strong teenager's only friend was Ellibereth, and he always felt graced by his friendship. He also particularily enjoyed the fact that Ellibereth practically spent all his time with him. Now, that Nadia pretty much ignored his exsistence like so many others before. But Nadia? Her, of all people, should've had at least agknowledged his presence.

Ellibereth - Wizard's Dome

"Friends?"
Ellibereth lost his composure for a seconds as he frowned in surprise and his hands dropped to his side. He would have took a step back if it wasn't a tree right behind him.
"Friends, Sure, Friends." The Undead boy was speaking with an extremely rapid pace as he was wondering what Nadia was thinking.
Nadezdha...this girl sure is crazy...blah, crazy is good.
"Yeah, sure, no problem. Since we're both 3-formers it's good to team up anyway right?"
Ellibereth turned toward Xanebes and noted something was wrong about his friend, but he didn't really know what. In reality, he was staring behind Xanebes, toward a mechanical clock mounted on a pillar.
It's already over 2:00...what a long... A sudden flash came in Ellibereth's eyes and his eyes became wide as thoughts flashed through his head.
Wait a sec...what time did I tell Yomi I'de meet him...crap crap, crap...
"Xanebes! We need to get down to southern Alexgilesonia now! I told Yomi I'd meet him there at 2:10 and we have no time now." Ellibereth stopped to take a breathe. "But you have no idea who Yomi is, so yeargh, just follow me...assuming you aren't going anywhere during break or whatever."
The Undead turned quickly back to Nadia as he shouted, not really making sense but talking nonetheless, while already running back to the ballroom and the exit of the Wizard's Dome, "I'll see you later, if you're going somewhere during break, but if you're not you can follow Xanebes if you want to!"

Xeon - Masal Desert

"You ask to be friends while you flip your spell book and charge your familiar. Not very polite of you, no?"
Xeon gave a small chuckle as he slowly leafed through the pages of the book.
"Estimating your spell set used so far, even with your wonderful instinctual spell, you seem to have not much variety. Instead of summoning additional familiars or switching the raven for a more powerful one you used some sort of buff to charge it up. I think I can safely assume that that bird is your only familiar spirit and that the rest of your spells in the realm of Familiar magic are complements to it, am I right?"
Xeon flashed his teeth in a spiked grin once more, his finger traced down a page of his spell book.
"Me on the other, hand, I have to choose a familiar to summon...this will be quite fun, and I think he will do quite well."
Xeon's voice became deeper as he uttered the incantation for the summoning, and a dark cloud came to existence around the young wizard. As the smoke cleared, the clear shape of a massive black panther could be seen.
"Now, Little raven boy, show me what you've got!"

Xanebes - Wizard's Dome

Yet again, Ellibereth left Xanebes in an awkward situation. The tall teenager looked down at Nadia, his arms crossed and a stern expression on his face. I don't want to have anything to do with her, he thought. Nadia was looking down, again. Most likely afraid to meet Xanebes' gaze. This disconcerted the conjurer-to-be. Xanebes wasn't disproportionally muscled; he was just very tall as well as being quite stronger than the other students. Though even then, Xanebes didn't understand why people were almost frightened of him at times. They'd stare in disbelief at the nearly 6¨7 tall sixteen-year old, and cower away when Xanebes looked back at them. It wasn't as if the boy was a killing machine of sorts; he hated using his fists for his own sake. Though he'd never hesitate to render crippled someone who threatened Ellibereth.

"So..." Xanebes started, hoping to start a conversation. But Nadia didn't answer, she continued looking down. Xanebes cleared his throat, and gasped in disbelief as she raised her head. A tear streamed down her cheek, and she was obviously quite embarassed- but not for the usual reasons. Now, her mouth was bound shut with a black tendril of magic. A spell from another student nearby, most likely. Nadia didn't seem to be the most popular girl in school.

Xanebes snarled, and quickly turned around to see three students snickering not far from them. One of them clutched an open spell-book in his hands, and he was pointing towards them. Though, they stopped snickering and pointing as Xanebes set his cold, angry gaze on them. One of them actually took off. The others would have done so as well, if Xanebes hadn't crossed the short distance seperating them in merely five short seconds. He shoved the two remaining students to the ground and tore the spell-book from the one holding it.

He cleared his throat. "Cancel. The. Spell." the frightened student mumbled the spell of cancelation, and Nadia was freed from the weak binding spell. Xanebes strode back towards the horribly embarassed girl. Oh man... She's really going to overreact to this. Can't blame her, she is pretty sensitive.

"You okay?" asked Xanebes, hoping for the best.
Daimonius
As night fell over the jungle of Beatitis the strange camp settled down. The shouts of various men were replaced by the sounds of torches being lit all over the camp, engulfing it in an orange glow. Time to move. The camp, protected by the sea on one side and by a wall on the side of the jungle seemed impenetrable at first sight. Hidden in the darkness of the growth, Ryvva circled the camp, looking for a way in. Every part of the wall seemed to be lit by torches, and guards periodically patrolled back and forth, making it impossible to enter unseen. Her only option was the sea.

The Gato didn't hate water, but they weren't the best swimmers either. Ryvva entered the cold water half a mile from the camp, to avoid being detected. Slowly but surely, she submerged her entire body, shivering as the cold water engulfed her. Using her tail as a rudder, Ryvva doubled back towards the camp as fast as she could. Luckily, the Gatos could see at night as well as during the day, Effortless, she managed to approach the harbour and dived under the dock. From there, she quickly managed to lift herself out of the water and darted into the shadows thrown by the nearest tent. Well done girl, but now what?

Peeking around the tent, she saw her goal. A few tents further into the camp, a bigger tent was put up. Their leader's tent, obviously. Threading softly, Ryvva sneaked from shadow to shadow, never losing sight of the big tent. As she came close, she could hear voices...

" ... happened to Jonah? Haven't seen him since he set out to catch one of those cats. That desert rat will be here in two days time expecting to take it home." The desert. For now, Ryvva had heard everything she needed to hear and was about to turn back to the water, when she was grabbed. The cold edge of a knife was put to her throat and a gruff voice spoke in her ear: "Move, and you die."

She tried to struggle, but the man knocked her on the head with the handle of his knife. Dazed, she vaguely experienced being dragged along and getting thrown to the ground. "This one was sneaking around, sir."

"Well well... it seems fate is on our side. We may yet have a Gato to deliver."
