Fasthosts.

Best company for website hosting that I know of. £2.49 a month gets you 2GB of hosting space with unlimited bandwidth, which is very cheap (although that's for 3 months only, it's a trial offer. After 3 months the price goes up to £4.99 per month, but it's still very cheap for what it is). That also includes 500 mailboxes (not that you'd ever need that many tongue.gif), and £125 in ad vouchers.

If you only need something really basic though, Freezone will give you 100mb web hosting with a 2gb bandwidth limit for £1.79 a month. In terms of value it's not half as good, but it is cheaper.

That is really expensive compared to today's standards.

I recommend Dreamhost - for $5 a month you get unlimited everything. If you pay a year in advance then you get a free domain registration.

I was looking at UK hosts as goth fairy is in the UK, and frankly Fasthosts is probably the best UK host for value. Remember, most things on this side of the pond are more expensive tongue.gif Dreamhosts does look good though, I'd never seen them before.

Also, I edited my post and added a more basic package. It's too basic in my opinion, but it's one of the cheapest I could find.

Dreamhost has massive setup fee.

Try GoDaddy or Justhost, both very good hosting companies.

She can use a host from wherever she wants. She is buying through the internet, not from a retail store.

Yearly plans have no setup fees. I could get her a code to waive the setup fee, btw.

It's free, and it'll have all the space you'll ever need, and it's fairly fast. You'll have to come up with your own design and everything, since theirs are horrible, but you should anyway. The only annoyance is the net2ftp panel logs you out after only 10 minutes or so of inactivity, and sometimes it has problems logging you back in for a few minutes after logging out, but the website works great for the users. You get 50 free MySQL 5.0 databases and a few other cool things too.

Oh, yeah, and no ads. biggrin.gif

I never said HE couldn't use an American host. All I was saying was that I'd been looking at UK hosts because of where HE lived, and that Fasthosts was the best UK one I could find.

I got a freehostia (chocolate plan) and added a html tamplated which I personnaly made. Its very good. If I can afford it, I'll get a host from there. If not, then I'll use a cheap dns to make my freehostia ".net". Is this a good plan?

I don't get what you're trying to do.

I'd never heard of Freehostia before, but I looked it up and the free chocolate plan doesn't look bad, just watch the disk space because you'll use 250mb up really quickly.

Do you mean you're trying to get a domain name from the same people? Your post wasn't very clear, because you say you've got a hosting plan, then you say you're trying to get a host from the same people huh.gif

If you're going to do that, you should pay for a domain + hosting plan, as they seem to be much cheaper than paying for the domain seperately. Alternatively, use the webhosting from Freehostia and get a domain name from somewhere else.

If you're using a free host, why don't you use a better one? There are plenty of good free hosts around. I personally like this: http://www.000webhost.com/

Oh and yes, you can buy a domain (usually around $8 USD for a .com) and link it with the host I told you.

That hosts forums only, not entire websites.
