QUOTE (Mod Paul M: 103-104-0-59341959)
Hi guys,

In the recent CM blog, we talked about our moderator team and our desire to increase the size of it both in game and on the forums. We talked about what we look for in moderators and of course, what we don’t.

Since then, we’ve been inundated with players keen to get involved with the moderator teams based on their involvement in the community. As this has resulted in stacks of threads all over the forums we’ve decided to create a centralised thread instead.

We’ve never created a thread for people to register their interest in joining our teams of moderators so this is something of a trial run for us. So, to make it work, we need to work together on this. Obviously if the thread becomes a spam box of nonsense, we’ll can it but I’m sure that won’t happen. ; )

If you contribute to the community and would like to be considered as a moderator of either the forums or the game itself, we’d be happy to hear from you.

To help you know what we’re looking for, here are just some of the things we look for in a moderator:

a. A contributor to the community
b. A player that plays in the spirit of the game (so no scammers plox!)
c. A player with a secure account
d. A player who doesn’t have an excessive number of offences on their account

There are lots of other things that tell us if a player is suitable but it’s very much on a case by case basis.

One thing I can't stress enough though is that if we don't invite you to be a moderator, it doesn't mean for a minute that we value you any less as a member of our community. It takes all types to make up the RuneScape community and hey, we don't want a game where everyone is a mod anyway do we?

It may be that we just simply don't have enough information about you to make the call. It may be that you still have black marks against your account and so we'd like to check out your account for a little longer. It may be that you lost control of your account due to a little brother jumping on and spamming up Varrock. We know it's not your fault and once we've seen that your account is secure, we may well take another look and get that invite out to you.

Ok, now before you post your interest in becoming a moderator, there are a few other points to consider:

1. Posting here doesn’t make you a moderator. As ever, all accounts are checked in great detail before we consider sending an invite.
2. We are constantly looking all over RuneScape for moderators so please don’t hold your breath as it may be quite some time before you hear from us.
3. We won’t be able to give feedback to players who’ve not been invited so please don’t ask!
4. Please avoid multiple posts or posts from multiple accounts requesting that we look at your account, once is enough.
5. All posts will be autohidden.
6. All moderators are required to register their contact details with us.
7. When telling us about yourself, please explain why you’d like to join the team and how you support the community.
8. If there’s another player who’s stuck out as being very community minded, feel free to let us know here.
9. This thread will be just one of the many ways we look for potential moderators. So don’t feel you *have*to post here to let us know of your interest.
10. To help us check you out as efficiently as possible, please use the following format:

Account Name:
Why you’d like to join the team (no more than 100 words please!):
What kind of player are you? (ie, “I’m a skiller”, “I’m a pker”, “I’m a troll”.
How you enjoy supporting the community:

Ok, I think that’s enough rules and stuff. Feel free to post and we look forward to hearing from you.

So...yeah.

Feel bad for the employees who have to read through that topic...

This seems like it's going to be a huge waste of time honestly. Everyone's gonna post "OOOOOOOOOOOOH ME ME MEMEMEEMEMEMEMEMEM PICK ME" and it's not going to be worth the trouble for the few good mods they do fish from the crowd...
Micronblast
This has the potential to go horribly wrong, or maybe a little right. I think Jagex should go looking for you, not you going looking for modship. Perhaps asking existing mods about mature players would be more of a wise idea.

Number 3 pls.

Also, from the forum index, I read "are you communist" and I was all like wtf man and I read the topic and I was still like wtf man

Besides, who the hell would want to be a Runescape mod blink.gif

But we have always had that ability...trouble is doing so is a hassle at the best of times and time consuming, not to mention people act differently around us lol

@Blingking, more than likely those who cannot string a understandable sentence together will be dismissed out of hand...this is mainly for those who might feel they simply havent been noticed at all for whatever reason yet who are great with everyone...I know a couple tongue.gif

Sorry, us mere mortals aren't supposed to be informed of most of the superpowers tongue.gif
And that is very true, although you'd probably be able to tell between someone putting on a good performance and someone who is genuinely PMod material.

I do share the concern that this might be a bad idea, but hey... who knows... might work out.

I made a post in there, wouldn't care what happened either way though, so long as they consider it.
Mp5shooter
This gives a great opportunity for people that want a chance to become a moderator. Thanks for posting this, Sparhawke smile.gif

Hmm.
I do think they could use a few more mods.
Goggie
Looks like whoever is going to be reading the topic is going to have their hands full - 5 pages already ohmy.gif
Hopefully they can sift through the Posts and find what they're looking for, it would be great to get some more community-focused Moderators. Not that they don't have them already aware.gif
Micronblast
I've realised that this might not to bad if they look for the right people and decided I might give this a go, who knows. If I'm what they're looking for, then I guess I might as well help. If not, life continues as normal smile.gif
Mohorak
I don't really want to be a mod- I like being just a normal player without people going up to me and asking questions they should already know the answers to whenever I speak. Plus, I don't really want to be part of 'the fuzz'. Being a Sal's mod would be different, though- I like being part of a selective clan- so that doesn't mean I don't like special privileges period. I just have enough on my plate is all.
Poke
Honestly, fudge this.
This is stupid. If Jagex have inforced one rule about becoming a moderator, it's 'Don't ask.' This is just contradicting that whole sentence. It's like the plotline of Harry Potter.

'Harry, no wizard came come back to life after death, it's impossible!'
'No, Harry! You're dead!
'Harry! You're alive!'

They have an entire thread dedicated to recommending future Pmods already, plus a few other things for recruiting new Mods.

xd.gif Easl, , maybe you'll be their faking director, telling them that fakes about RS3 aren't real? tongue.gif

I'm skeptical as to whether or not this will actually work wel', I have a feeling they'll get a bunch of not so great requests and they'll maybe find one or two good requests a page. I'm still trying to decide if I want to try this but at the moment but I think I might at least give it a go.

Aracnos
I've thrown my lot in, as so many others have, as it really can't hurt to try. I'm not hugely fussed about becoming a mod, but if its offered I certainly wouldnt turn it down, so I figured I'll have a go.
Sparhawke
There is no point really worrying about it now, since that blog post Jagex apparently got loads of requests, far more than usual and it is true...some people should be mods and simply dont seem to get recognised...maybe that will redress the balance.

Of course there will be some power crazed maniacs lurking behind every tree but putting name forward is only the first step tongue.gif

I have a feeling in the end that with so many good responses (I'm assuming alot of them are well written) it will come down to the smaller things, like Mutes and Offences. slanty.gif

Wow! My friend told me about this and when i google searched it, this is what came up! =D

I just posted on there. Seems they'll never read my post (page 130), but I do feel I need to get my name out there (In some way), express my opinion, and offer up my services.

Meh it is only on the runescape forums? Unfortunately for me it isn't on the funorb forums because I can post there, oh well.

So write something up and then get a friend to post it for you on that topic, telling them that you are freeplay with less than 12.5M experience and that you requested their help in getting your name noticed blink.gif

I may make a post when I get to start playing RuneScape again in a good month or so just to see what happens.

Kinda getting a bad feeling about this though. Someone with bad intentions or even an idiot can take the time to write a convincing response.

That thread is going to end up in disaster, or worse.
