Fatalysm isn't exactly designing a site. He's just doing the layout in Photoshop, afaik.

Edit @ Fini: The layout is apart of the site's design. The project is currently in the design process.

Edit @ Goth below: I completely agree, but to say, "Fatalysm's the boss of us by far" wouldn't be entirely accurate to web design and development. It's only 50% accurate.

They are that. I'm actually on the other side. I'm horrible at designing a website, but I program them as a hobby and I'm getting better every day. Once I get through college I hope to get a job in either web or game development. Jason, you'd be surprised at how many amateur web designers and developers there are on this forum.

What Fatalysm is doing isn't practical webdesign, but making a layout in Photoshop.

#1 rule of webdesign: actually make it realistic to use.

I'm pretty good at designing and a little developing.

You got anything I can look at? I'm more of a developer myself, my photoshop skills are crap. But if anyone ever has a html, css or php related problem, then lemme know. I'd be glad to try and help.

Yeah, the link is in my signature, or here. The layout I got for free, but I'm going to try to make my own before MechScape comes out. Nothing real special yet, but I've been working on preparing an items database for when MechScape is released that's almost ready for release. (But I just killed it... Everything works except the MySQL queries all of a sudden for some reason I don't know yet, and my brain is way too overheated from programming for 4 hours straight to try to figure it out right now, lol. Hopefully I'll be able to fix it tonight or tomorrow...)

I've got a couple of projects: my main one is my website about website technologies (which I hope to be better than w3schools, which on reflection is just incredibly confusing once you want to actually understand XHTML etc.) and I'm also working on an unofficial concept for a clan site. Both are amateur projects, the first is more about content (apart from the XHTML tag search (and entity search) tool I'm having a hard time with), and the second is in the v0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.1 stage of development and is more of a playground for me and PHP to play in smile.gif No links, but I hope my main site will be finished and online by the time XHTML2 is a recommendation smile.gif

Yes - I'm designing and developing a few sites for a woman here, one for a gym (gymnastics) here, a site for an international meet here next Feb...a school newspaper Wordpress site...etc. smile.gif

Fatalysm's best when it comes to the Photoshop side of things. Personally I'd say Agent F or Salmoneus is best with coding, but that's only from what I've seen of their work. tongue.gif

I know a bit of xHTML myself, currently working on improving that, learning CSS and also PHP.

I can tell by the view source that you're coding pro. Good semantic coding there, and I see your using the prototype js framework, that's a very good look. Are you using a php framework aswell?

Ditto, same here! I've been working on a lightweight php framework for myself too, just so that I can do jobs for clients alot faster. I started to make my own after numerous failed attempts of me trying to learn the CodeIgniter framework. You've got some good work there man!

Uhh...OK... Actually, the AddThis widget and the lightbox on the concept art page are the only things that use JavaScript. Everything else is HTML and PHP. As far as the framework stuff, I don't really get into that much. I've never really understood anything with the word framework in it, and today it kind of scares me off and makes me try to learn what I need elsewhere. I find a good webhost and type in the code, lol. Sometime I'll have to find out exactly what I've been missing, but everything for me for now, so...yeah... I got the layout for free, as I mentioned, did a little editing in Kompozer just to make some of it easier, but most of it was done manually by directly editing the code.

As far as being the coding pro, I'm the type that can learn to do anything on the computer, but I don't know near as much yet as many people, especially about what happens behind the scenes.

EDIT: Oh, I was editing some of the stuff in the concept art area, fixing a couple bugs and inconsistencies with the navigation links, and I noticed what you're talking about. The lightbox does use that prototype framework, but I didn't actually program that. I could have figured out how, but a while back I noticed three different websites that had a lightbox that looked exactly the same. Believe me, these were professional or semi-professional websites with a couple hundred visitors per day. I was curious, and looked into the coding, and found that it could be obtained for free here. I figured why program it myself when I can get it done for me for free with no trademark image or anything (except in the code itself, which hardly anyone looks at), then I can use the time to focus on other things. I'll go back and edit the css of it when I redesign the rest of the site, but for now it fits with the site perfectly as-is.

Search wordpress themes on google though. I'm sure they'll be one.

I've been working on this website and once my studies die down, I'll fix the last few bugs on my RuneScape client which will be released to the public. I'm also working on my own scripting engine which my friends think is amazing. Also, I'm currently working on an rpg game, but it's not very good. I'm basically adding to it as I go along.

Your php skills are pretty slick, i like how u've done that grand exchange page. Wouldn't it be good if there JAGEX released an API where programmers like us could make webpages that get stuff players stats and grand exc data from the JAGEX servers? That would be sick... Keep up the good work dude. I've love to see some more of ur web apps.

Well, one of my biggest PHP using projects is actually my RuneScape client. Throughout the entire program, it uses hidden webpages that send php data to my server for many things. Mostly, profile changes, and to search for items.

Anyway, Fantasmyl has about 30% of what you need to be a good Web Developer. You need programming skills (e.g PHP, Javascript, (X)HTML, and CSS at the very least), how to get/set up hosting and domains (very easy), and to have a good graphics base.
