Hi, my name is Joscha/I_Make_Awesome and known as many other names.
I've been pixeling for a few years now, I've made Star Wars stuff for all buddy&bunny kits, bunny kit stuff is still in progress, you'll see em in the near future on the bunnykit forum, so head over there ya'll.

This is my General Grievous, based on a picture I saw on the internet, hope you like it.

ALL MY WORK IS COPYRIGHTED, I will hunt down people tending to claim it as their own.

Two things will make this better.

1. Use your own colors.
2. Apply AA.

Really dood, your technique looks solid. Man-up and don't steal colors from the reference. This is excellent; I hope to see more of your work in the future.

I understand what u say about the AA but why wouldnt he use the colors from the reference? it wouldnt be Grievous if he didnt. it would be a different color look-a-like.

I think what he means is use your own colours that look like Grievous but don't steal them directly from the picture with the eyedropper tool.

This. It's not a big deal, but he'll learn more if tries to understand why the colors are there and using his own, so he can use his own for other images when the reference isn't used to so directly, or when he's drawing without a reference. happy.gif
Joscha
Thnx for the feedback and stuff.
Mind explaining what AA means?
Doomsicle
To be quite honest, it looks like all you did was trace over the original.
Way to Dawn
It looks like a posterized version of picture of him. slanty.gif
Legend
I'm pretty sure it's not traced, just a very close copy to the original.

AA is Anti-Aliasing, something you did on the slits above General Grievous eyes. Here's a post I made awhile ago on it. It's all the pixels that blur the edges of the image, it's used to create smoother looking lines. You can observe it also in Digital Photos or Photoshopped images.

Taken right off an image on Pixel Joint.

Anyways, you can see how it's done. it's a gradient surrounding the pixels which transitions from contrasting colors or shades. It smooths the edges.

Also here's a link to my old AA tut I did sometime ago. Hopefully it'll help.

Another good way to learn is to look at examples.

Joscha
Ah, I get what you mean, Legend.

And no guys, I did not draw over the original picture, I drew every single line from scratch, no zooming out of picture just simple drawing.
I'll see that as a compliment tho biggrin.gif
Jordo
I find it random that your still a newbie forumer.

Chaoss
Haha, still this is one amazing picture wink.gif

I hope you make more.

It's kinda sad when people make a good picture one of the most common reponses is "traced."
