For as long as anyone can remember, the city of Darknea has always watched over the Shadow's Pass, a break in a line of mountains called the Oldaks Mountains, which seperate the northern parts of the land of Foresa from the southern parts. Darknea protects the northern lands from the southern lands, which are filled with demonic beings from the lands of Hell. However, because of the Darkneans ways of darkness and mysteries, they are misunderstood, and a group who call themselves the Purity of Light, which consists of Paladins and Light Holders, have gone to war with them, because they believe them to be unholy. Lately, Demonica, Hell's outpost, has had a new ruler take the throne, and he's much more aggressive than all the past rulers, and he's beginning to prepare for war. Now, it's up to the Darkneans to make sure these demons do not overflow to the northern lands and destroy them, while continuing to battle the PoL (Purity of Light), who seek to destroy all that's unholy. However, there are those few members of PoL (Purity of Light) that believe what they're doing is wrong, and they seek to overthrow their tyrannical ruler. Choose your side, now, and decide the fate of the world.
Darknea is led by King Blodri, a vampire, who rules from a citadel.
Special Classes
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
Black Knights (Led by Lord Arkorm) - The black knights are a group of knights, living at the Black Tower, who wear black armor and study the forces of death to further enhance their already powerful fighting abilities.
Death Priests (Led by High Priestess Eshater) - The death priests are the priests of the goddess Athder, who they believe controls who dies, when, where, and which afterlife they go to afterwards. They also believe it is she who grants them their powers over death, for they can control the spirits and souls of the dead, using them to inhabit dead bodies, then control them. They also have the ability to manipulate the life force of the already living, giving them the abilities to weaken their enemies and strengthen themselves. As well as that, they also study the use of poisons, toxins, venoms, etc. Death priests are the equivilant of "necromancers," but I don't like that term, because the suffix "-mancer" means "divination" or something close to that, and divination is not all the death priests are good at.
Masked Ones (Led by Lord Nownfa) - A group of warriors who live at the Spire, who study their own physical, psychological, mental, and spiritual abilities. Studying their physical abilites makes them strong, agile, flexible, etc. Studying the psychological and mental abilites gives them the abilities to manipulate matter, but they usually use these abilites to manipulate their own body, making their kicks, punches, etc. even more forceful, and they use it to create psychic shields to block attacks. Studying their mental abilites makes them strong in the mind, making them strong-willed. Studying their spiritual abilites makes them strong over magic. Since they don't have to rely on outside magic, their magic is more reliable, but their magic is usually weaker than most. All of this control makes them able to heal themselves better than others, sometimes purposely. Also, all of this control takes years of training, so the Masked Ones (So called because they wear masks and use codenames) are picked especially by the wisest of them, and there aren't many of them, either.
Iron Teeth - Long ago, a group of Darkneans delved deep into ancient, forgotten knowledge, and they came upon the ability to transform into one of the night's creatures, the wolf. Over the years, they perfected this skill, and now they're known as the Iron Teeth. They get this name from the fact that their teeth have a lot of iron in them, rusted, which will easily infect any bite wounds they give. The Iron Teeth are a very secret group. Only rumors are the evidence of their existence. Even the Darkneans do not know of them, really, except important figures, such as the king. When they go on missions, they go on missions at night, and very few ever escape their wrath. Those that do, however, have little to tell, for the Iron Teeth are very stealthy and precise. When the Iron Teeth are mentioned, only fear answers.

Larpuri is led by Lord Omdes, who rules from the Temple. He's a human Paladin.

Paladin - From the most ancient of origins, come Paladins, a group of holy knights who use the powers of light and purity to defeat their unholy foes. They are granted these powers both from the gods who grant it to them personally and from the very goodness that lies within all beings. They use these powers to greatly enhance their physical abilities, though they do use spells.
Photomagician - Not as old as the Paladins, photomagicians also use the powers of light and purity to defeat their unholy foes, granted to them by the same sources as the Paladins. Instead, though, the photomagicians use these for spells more than physical power.

Demonica is led by King Terrker, who leads from a tower. Like all of Demonica's inhabitants, he's a demonically-changed form of one of the already existing races, an elf.
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
Witch/Warlock (Led by Lady Omsay) - This is also an ancient group. Lady Omsay, a powerful demon, strikes deals with several damned, granting them the powers over the cold, death, fire, and Hell, which they use for great spells. Also, they're granted the power to summon demons to do their bidding. All this in exchange for their souls, which greatly increases Lady Omsay's power.
Demonic Knight (Led by Lord Fiker) - This group of knights is very ancient. Lord Fiker, a powerful demon, strikes deals with several damned, granting them the powers of the cold, death, fire, and Hell, which they use to greatly enhance their physical powers. All this in exhange for their souls, which greatly increases the power of Fiker.

Races
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
Far Elves - So called by the Darkneans because they're the race that lives the farthest away. They live far in the north, which, instead of being cold and icy, is filled with ash, lava, magma, volcanic rock, volcanoes, etc. Because of this, the land is filled with crystals. The far elves have learned to control the growth of these crystals, and do so to create wonderful things, even entire cities made of crystal. In fact, the entire far elves' (Also called crystal elves, for reasons I hope I don't have to explain.) society is based on crystals, which they believe are harmonious, because they believe that the crystals' building blocks (Atoms, but they don't know about atoms. All they knows is that the crystals are made of something they can't see.) are in perfect order, so the far elves' society is based on harmony, order, perfection, etc. And their styles in battle are agility and precision. Far elves have light blue skin, but they have the normal ranges of eye and hair colors. They also usually paint tattoos on their faces, which usually mean something (Such as what family they belong to or how succesful they've been in battle (Such as they paint a new tattoo every time they win a battle.).). They do have pointed ears, like most elves, but they're actually taller than humans.
Dwarves - Also called the race of the earth. The dwarves usually live within mountains or below the ground, though they've been known to live above ground. The dwarves are best known for their making really beautiful and complicated things, which is what has lead to their advanced technology, which has lead to their dominance over the lands. The dwarves are also known for their war-like ways, for they love it (War, that is.). The ways they fight in battle are by using their endurance and strength, which is why they use heavy and powerful weapons. Above all else, dwarves prize their honor, which they'll fight to protect as best they can. Dwarves are usually between half the height and the full height of humans, and the males' most prominent features are their beards, which they prize.
Orks - The orks are known as a primitive, violent race. They are indeed violent, but they're not primitive. In fact, they have more advanced technology than most other races, other than the dwarves. They live deep in the earth, though not in places as wonderous as the dwarves' homes. They're known for their violent ways (Though they're not as honorable as dwarves, but they're love of warfare comes from the fact that they actually enjoy pain, believing that it's as natural as pleasure.), which is why they're the most technologically advanced in warfare, other than the dwarves. They have technology that's both cruel and does massive damage, such as bombs, cannons, and poisoned blades. Orks are also known for their studies in the arts of darkness, which is why most of their magic-users are Death Priests and others similar to them. All orks have pointed ears, sharp teeth, claws, arms longer than their legs, and they're hunched over. There are two types of orks, though. The northern orks, which have black skin, and the southern orks, which have pale, yellowish skin.
Humans - I hope I don't have to describe humans.
Damned - The damned were actually members of the other races, corrupted by the forces of Hell. They look similar to the other races, except for the facts that they're not muscular-looking (Though they're actually really strong.), they're unreasonably skinny, and they're skin is red, as if it were sunburned. Also, their wounds scar as if they were burned. All in all, they're very disturbing to look at. They look as if they've been neglected thoughout their entire life, and it's hard to believe they could be alive. The damneds' tactics in battle are to kill, kill, kill, and destroy. They use cruel weapons, which hurt their enemies beyond imagination before actually killing them, and they use the powers of Hell (Which include extremely burning fire and extremely freezing cold.), fire, and death.
Trolls - The trolls are also called the hillfolk, for they often reside in hill-filled areas. They're best known for their stupidity, though not all of them are like that, and they usually depend on other races for survival, usually orks, who take care of them in exchange for their services in battle. The trolls are also known for their brute strength, as they're extremely tall, muscular, and bulky. They have rough skin, which is thick, like leather, and green or grey, and their back is covered in skin-covered scutes. Their feet are flat and toeless, and the males lower jaws stick out further than usual so that their lower fangs jut out of their mouths. They also have very coarse and thick hair. Though they're stupid (Usually.), primitive, and brutish, they're also very honorable, their honor matching even that of the dwarves, though they don't look down upon the orks because of their honorlessness, who have taken care of them.
Vampire - A vampire was once a member of another race. However, he was corrupted by the bite of another vampire. When bitten, he was changed. His skin became paler than before, his eyes became red, and his fangs became really sharp. Unlike most folklore says, vampires aren't killed by sunlight, but they do get horrible sunburns. Also, they're allergic to garlic. And when a chemical in wood comes in contact with a chemical in a vampire's heart, the two form a poison, which kills the vampire. Thus, the stake in the heart idea. Also, unlike most people think, vampires are dignified, but that doesn't mean they're good, though they are sometimes. Still, none act like it. They can also regenerate, which means they can heal any wounds, destroy any diseases, and never die of old age, as long as they get enough blood, which they need to survive. Also, the older a vampire becomes, the stronger it gets.
Ghoul - Like damned and vampires, a ghoul was once one of the other races. However, when that person died, and they were brought back by a Death Priest, they were sometimes brought back as ghouls, a type of undead still having their free will. They looked like their former selves, but their skin was either paler, green, or grey, and it was usually rotting. Also, some of a ghoul's wounds do not heal, as long as it's not a vital organ, and the white of their eyes turn yellow, while their irises turn red. Their bites are toxic. Wild ghouls usually eat dead corpses, but the non-wild ghouls are more dignified, though still savage.

You can make up your own class and race, as long as it fits in with the fantasy setting. Note: You can have as many characters as you want, since I'll probably be adding information to this post as the RP progresses, and you might want to change to a different character based on the changed information, but make sure you can handle all of your characters, or you could kill off your previous character. Any new characters you make, though, still have to be approved by me.

He was found and brought in by the Darkneans, and then he was picked to be a Masked One, and he learned over the years, so that he could get revenge on the demons, end the war, and also end the fighting between the Darkneans and the Paladins. In the introduction, what's PoL and SoL? Maybe I just missed it, but I can't find or deduce it's meaning from the text itself.
Scorpion
Aug 12 2009, 06:43 PM
Well, PoL is supposed to be Purity of Light, also known as the Paladins, and SoL must have been a typo. I'll edit that.
EDIT: Also, I may edit some things as I see them fit.

So there are two sides? One neutral evil and the other lawful good?
Scorpion
Aug 12 2009, 06:54 PM
Well, there are kind of two sides and kind of three sides.
The demons of Hell are the ultimate enemies, constantly attacking the Darkneans, Paladins, and those to the north. Though the Darkneas constantly protect the northern lands and the Paladins form Hell, the Paladins still attack the Darkneans, who they (Well, not all of them) see as unholy. The northern lands aren't really involved with this plot.
EDIT: Also, I'm not really that great with names, so any name suggestions (Such as one replacing Purity of Light) would be great. In fact, any suggestions would be great, such as more info for the special classes.

Aug 12 2009, 07:03 PM
Okay, tell me If I got this right.
There are the Darkneans, misunderstood Unholy people who moderate the forces Denomica, and there are Purity of Light people, who hate both of them. So, the PoL people are trying to destroy the Darkeans AND the Demons, or just the Darkeans? It doesn't seem like a confusing plot, it just is for me
Scorpion
Aug 12 2009, 08:30 PM
The Darknean's aren't unholy. The Paladins (Purity of Light) just see them that way, because they are the manipulators of darkness and the users of forbidden magics. Also, the demons are the forces of Hell, and they're evil, so they're obviously enemies of the Paladins. The Darkneans, on the other hand, aren't evil. They just use evil magic, etc. to fight fire with fire, so to say, and their entire culture is based around it. They've been defenders of justice and innocence for as long as anyone can remember, defending the north (Including the Paladins) against the southern lands of Hell-infestation. However, because the Paladins see them as unholy, they won't leave the Darkneans alone, and only wish to destroy (As they say, "purify.") them, but the Darkneans are doing everything in their power to be at peace with the Paladins. However, not all of the Paladins feel the same way, and they're are some plotting to overthrow their lord.

Ah, so it's pretty much a three way war.
Name: Karkus Loecrum
Gender: Male
Age: 75
Class: Death Knight (See below)
Race: Ghoul (See Below)
Appearance: Karkus has skin as pale as snow, his face a bit carved in due to being a Ghoul. Karkus eyes are yellow, the pupils pure black. Due to being old, and undead, Karkus no longer has hair. Overtime, Karkus teeth have turned yellow, not caring for personal hygiene. Parts of Karkus' body have exposed bones. (Arms and legs mostly)
Equipment: Karkus has a long black/darkblue robe, but his feet are not hidden. Karkus also has black boots and gloves, but his toes and fingers poked out due to the small 'claws.' Karkus also has two small spikey shoulder pads, and a hood between them, blocking off most of his face. Karkus also has a long cape, sharing the same design of his robe. Karkus weapon, is a long, wide blue blade with black and green runic lettering on it.
This picture pretty much covers it, too.History: Originally, Karkus was a human and was born 'n raised in Northern lands, but like many others, he had to relocate to Darknea, but his parents were killed on the journey. When Karkus arrived, he immediately began studying the arts of death to take revenge on the demons who killed his family. By the time he was 45, Karkus finally mastered his abilities and was a favored Black Knight by Lord Akrom. Ten years later, Karkus was put in charge of a small defensive battle against a Paladin raid party. Although the defense was successful, Karkus died in the process. Angered, Lord Akrom ordered one of finest Death Priests Darknea had to resurrect him. The resurrection was successful, but Karkus did not keep his original state. Instead, he was raised again as a Ghoul, and possessed some new abilities, which the discovery lead to the creation of a Death Knight.
Karkus, now wants revenge. Karkus does not care about making peace with the Paladins, only to destroy them. Even if it involves disobeying orders.
Faction: Darknea
Other: He is allergic to chicken feathers.
Death Knights. (Darknea exclusive class)
Death Knights are Blood Knights who have once fallen, but risen again by a Death Priest as their original state, or a Ghoul. Although a Death Knight sounds similar to a Black Knight, they are very different. A DK relies more on his spells while a BK relies more on his weapon, but the blade of a DK is is it's only way to access it's spells, it's not the blade that matters, but the runes forged into it. A DK forges ten runic letters into his blade, five are a same color, but different letters, the other five is a different color, and different letters. A Death Knight may forge his weapon at a Runeforge, located in the middle of Darknea. Death Knights also have the ability of summoning an undead horse to ride.
Deathknight Forging Types
Poison - A green rune, allowing the use of poison like spells. Like poisoning the target, or shooting a bolt of poison at an enemy etc.
Blood - A red rune, allowing the use of blood spells. Like, stealing the enemies blood, using the blood inside ones body against them. Etc etc.
Frost - A light blue rune, allowing the use of frost spells. Like, coating your weapon with ice, allowing extra damage against your opponent. Freezing water to walk on, etc etc.
Death - A black rune, allowing the use of more demonic spells. Like, raising a undead to fight for you, harnessing the engergy of a nearby dead body and using it against your opponent. etc etc.
So, this is basicly an idea. I'm not that impressed on how it turned out, but I guess it could work. Your call. I'm not so sure on who leads it. Maybe me if since I'm kinda the founder ^.^ That is, if you pass it. If you don't Karkus can be just a Black Knight.
Ghoul
One raised from the dead not lucky enough to come back as their original form.

So, how many more people till we start?
Oh, and can you describe what Darknea looks like? Either in picture or words?
Scorpion
Aug 12 2009, 09:45 PM
Well, I don't have a picture, so I'll have to use words. Basically, the buildings are black and gray, and they usually have sharp, protruding parts that are usually roundish, while the buildings themselves are cube-ish and square-ish. Also, they only have one floor above the ground. The rest of the floors are below ground or into the mountain that Darknea's set into. Even the Black Knight's Black Tower goes underground instead of above it.
Leo Crimson
Aug 13 2009, 07:46 AM
Name: Leo Crimson
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Class: Hunter (see below)
Race: Dwarf
Appearance: 4'7, leather hauberk over light chainmail, light green cloak, leather boots and gloves
Equipment: red axe
History: When his parents were killed in a fierce battle that accidentally set fire to a small town near Darknea, Leo was raised by an old man whom was related to a high commander of the Darkneans. Teaching him the skills of the warrior, Leo became advanced in stealth and assassination. At the age of 25, he left his surrogate father's home, hoping to find his way in the world. Deciding first to revenge himself on the Darkneans. Joining up with a group of neutrals aiming to defeat the Darkneans, Leo found out that Larpuri and their leader had started the way, which inevitably led to the death of his parents in that village. Furious by this, he made his way to Darknea, slaying all of the invaders wherever he could find them. Reaching the city within a couple days, Leo vowed to serve King Blodri until the Paladins and their allies were defeated.
Faction: Darknea
Other: N/A
New Class: Hunters are warriors that have abandoned the ways of sorcery (except for a few) and taken up stealth and hte way of the assassin. Training for a grueling 5 months, a full-trained hunter can sense danger from 15 feet away, even if the attacker is a very silent person. Many Hunters wield bows, other projectile weapons and throwing axes. The less experienced usually carry swords with them in case an operation goes south; this is usually very rare, as the Hunters have been known to completely 95% of all their assigned jobs. Many of these specially trained soldiers ride black mounts to cover themselves in the dark for quicker and silenter kills.
The only magic a Hunter will use is firing small shadow blasts at their enemies to paralyze, distract or wound them and prepare for the final strike. However, because of their hard training, a Hunter has one weakness: if any one is hit by a powerful blast of light, they will be significantly weakened for a mere 3 seconds. However, in that short period of time, a veteran Paladin or Light Holder will finish them off if they have the chance.
1. If you want to update the class a bit, feel free to, as it's your rp.
2. If my app is accepted, along with the class, can Leo be the leader of the Hunters, under the name 'Master Crimson'?

Gender: Male
Age: 37
Class: Shadow Corp
Race: Human
Appearance: Tall; Slender physique; Shoulder-length, white hair; Green eyes; Pale skin
Equipment: Black suit; Long-sleeved, white shirt; Black tie; Black loafers; Black sunglasses
History: Angel was a former Paladin who was corrupted by the demonic forces of the Southern lands. When the Paladins found out that Angel had become tainted, they discharged him from the North. While on his journeys he decided that Darknea would be the only suitable location for him to stay in. Although he wasn't evil, he was not quite pure either and found refuge among other former Paladins and Light Holders who joined forces to fight the forces that managed to corrupt them.
Faction: Darknea

Shadow Corp - Shadow Corp consists of former denizens of the Northern lands. They act as the liaisons for Darknea to Larpuri and have the power to control all forms of shadow and darkness. They use it to travel large distances in a short amount of time, undetected, and to craft them into weapons and armor. They do as little fighting as possible and only fight when a situation goes awry. They never go into a situation with the intention of fighting.

Can I join? I know yous aid after that last application but I was hoping I could join too.
Name: Serene
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Class: Mercenary
Race: Human
Appearance: Hair is a deep dark that looks black without the light reflecting off of it. Blue/purple eyes, sometimes they change to red in her anger. Serene is of average height but below average weight. She is nimble and fast. Noone knows exactly how strong she is physically. Those she has faced in combat do not live to tell.
Equipment: A long narrow shield covering the length of her arm and about twice the width. At the end of this shield is a a row of three spikes which protrude around 4 inches from her fist, the shield curves slightly around her arm but not completely. She carries a a sword of short length but one that is greater than a shortsword. The sword curves slightly and seems bladed at both sides. Her armor consists of individual metal bands that wrap around vital areas well. The metal bands are covered then by a layer of leather and cloth. They don't do much against stab attacks but work great against slashes and axe crushes that otherwise would have been lethal without them, yet they remain light and silent. Serene uses throwing projectiles most similar to a rubber ball, but they are hollow and contain an acid. The acid isn't lethal in most cases but is potent enough and in enough amount to melt most of the way to one's bone. It also loves to melt metal.
History: Serene was a girl who origionally was raised to become a paladin and a light holder and knows the tricks for both of these trades, up almost to mastery level but not. She doesn't believe what they do is wrong but had been kicked out by the leaders of both for what was considered an impure wrong doing. Now she uses her talents for either what she believes is the greater good or money to support the several causes that she fights for.
Spoiler: Click to Toggle the Spoiler.
Serene fights for money so that she may pay for orphaned children to have a place to sleep and eat. Orphanages are harder to find even in the city and then they are guarded by ruthless people. Serene does her best to find loving people who will care for the children.
[Close]
Faction: Serene is a traveler, but she resides often in Darknea because of their understanding of her and her ways. She has even made friend there and has on occasion helped them against those who are of the evil nature. She cannot bear to fight those from her own society.
Other: Ultimately Serene is a kind girl with a minor temper. She strives to do what is good, and only sometimes falls off course. When word reached her of the armies of Demonica brewing she knew that her place was to do what she could to preserve what peace the land already had.
edit* may she be friends with Sam (angel) axe?

Accepted, both. Still working on the introduction. I'll either have it up today or tomorrow.
EDIT: And I thought of another special class, which I'm also working on.
EDIT:IC:
"Faster!" said a rusty voice, the voice of a demon. He was yelling to his men. They were on a mission, but they weren't making good time. The reason for this was the fact that they were going through Darknean territory, at night. The time when the Darkneans were at their best. Fear gripped the edges of the demons' thoughts, for they knew that the Darkneans had many deadly tricks up their sleeves. The superior sighed. The demons had heard moving in the brush all night, and they'd seen pairs of glowing eyes, caused by the torchlight. The superior assured them that these were just animals, but the demons still felt afraid.
Suddenly, the torches were all blown out, as if by some gust of wind. The superior said, "What? Light those torches!" before he heard screams and metal hitting metal sounds. He took a torch from his back, thinking his men had just gotten afraid from the darkness, and lit it. He found out that his men were gone. The only things left of them were blood and some of the equipment they dropped.
The superior heard a growl behind him, and he spun around quick, to meet a pair of glowing eyes. The superior couldn't see who the eyes belonged to, though, and he took out his blade, ready to put up a fight, however futile it would be. Suddenly, his torch went out, and then a scream echoed through the night.

Scorpion picked up a pack someone was having trouble lifting, then carried it where they wanted. Right now, they were at camp, getting ready for the coming battle against a group of Paladins. No doubt the Paladins would be coming at dawn, when they were at their best, so, after the Darkneans had set up camp, they were going to go meet them at their own camp, during the night. They would ambush them.
Pretty soon, camp was ready, so the small army got ready to move. After a while, they were not far away from the Paladin's camp.
In the camp, a Paladin entered his commander's tent, and he bowed before he approached him, a custom. The Paladin commander said, "What can I do for you, Arsto?"
"Sir, before we head off for the Darkneans, what would you prefer be done to the prisoners?"
"Purge them." said the commander.
"Purge them! That's brutal. Why-?"
"Are you questioning your leader?" snapped the commander, before Arsto could finish.
"No..." said Arsto, teeth clenched, as he hung his head, then left.
Arsto, despite his commander's orders, traveled to the prisoner's tent. There, he let the guard off-duty, saying he would take his place. Then, he unlocked the prisoners' cells, saying, "Get out, or the others will do something terrible to you." and the Darkneans, confused, nodded before leaving and sneaking away from the Paladin camp.
Suddenly, a warning call sounded. The camp was being attacked! Arsto traveled to his tent and got his things ready, then ran towards the side of camp that was being attacked. There, he met the Darkneans, and he engaged them in battle, just as Scorpion engaged the Paladins in battle.

"And that's the news, Lord Omdes, the Darkeans are attacking your Paladins now." Angel said.
"You insolent ba-. Why I should jus-. How dare you enter Northern lands, my temple of all places, and bring such news. It's just..." replied Lord Omdes, at a loss for words. "Angel, you used to be a top Paladin, and now you work with those scum. Why, I should have you purged for this!"
"You and I both know that the Eastern star is set, and the Powers-That-Be are on my side at this time of night, you, nor any of your men, have the power to do so. Why else would I come at night? The Darkeans are not this great evil that you make them out to be, if anything, they are protecting you from a far greater evil! Without them, the balance in this world of ours would be tipped in the favor of evil! Withdraw your troops, you will be safer that way, for the Darkeans are smart enough to not come charging into you lands, maybe then we can all be at peace. The offer is on the table, Lord Omdes, eventually you will see the true light in balance." Angel said this as a dark fog enveloped his body and he was gone.

Word of the upcoming ambush was at Serene two nights before it took place. At first she considered helping fight the demons, but she refused to go. She had heard that they we're also going to ambush paladins the same night. Serene stayed where she was. Near the dividing line between Darknea and Larpuri.
"So close, yet so far from home" she said to herself in the night.
Two nights later she was actually close enough to the battle that she could see it from a nearby cliff. She didn't know too much about Darknea fighting techniques. She didn't train herself in them, much. What she did know was how to cut off lights and keep herself shrouded. The rest of her fighting style was either self-taught or paladin learned.
Serene tried to watch the battle carefully. She didn't want to interfere, because it would mean choosing between the two homes she had. She was still allowed in Lapuri, and she often visited her family there. Darknea was just too understanding of a place though. She could remain herself there. Noone judged her.
Recently, though the forces of Darknea are powerful and are able to hold back the demons and the paladins, Serene had started to see a weakening in their forces. Their soldiers were getting hurt, and every injury cost them. It's not easy to have to fight a battle at two fronts.
The battle raged, inside the camp, and inside Serene's heart.

Crawling silently behind a number of trees on a large hillside, Leo signaled to the 2nd Battalion of Hunters to stop. Getting up slowly, he walked ovver to the requested box of equipment that was left here by a Darknean lieutenant. Grabbing a bow and a quiver of arrows, the dwarf moved further out and notched his weapon.
Once everyone had gathered their respective equipment, the Hunters lined up on the edge of the hill. 50 feet away, in the camps, the DArknean soldiers raged against the Paladins, whom were holding out well. But not for long; they will pay for the war they started. Grimacing, Leo readied his weapon. Counting in his head, he nodded to the others as he let loose his arrow.
Several projectiles buried themselves in Paladins, whom screamed in pain; the survivors looked around, frightened, while the Hunters continued firing arrow after arrow. After the third attack, the Paladins finally located the source and a small squad ran out to meet them. Tossing aside his bow, Leo grabbed his axe and roared, "For Darknea!"
Echoing his cry, the Hunters leapt down from the hill and charged at the Paladins. Meeting head-on, the 2 squads joined the massive fight within the camp.

Blosua stood before a group of people. This meeting took place in an inconspicuous building designed to hide everything whoever was in it was doing. This was it. If Blosua couldn't convince them now, what would be the point? Blosua stuck his hand in his pocket, feeling the ring that was inside. A single tear rolled down his cheek, but he wiped it away, afraid the others would think him weak if they saw him cry.
He took a step forward, then said, "Quiet, please." and everyone in the room hushed up. Then, Blosua continued, "I have gathered you here, in the house of my dead wife, to discuss one thing. Before I get to that, however, I would like to make a few comments regarding the views of the northerners on us."
That made everyone start whispering to each other, anger fueling the words, and Blosua had to hush them again. Then, when they were quiet, he continued, "They view us as corrupted, unholy beings. You all know that we are indeed not unholy, and we deserve the same respect all others get. However, due to our extreme delvings into the arts of darkness and forbidden magic, we can be, and have been, corrupted. This is why we must take measures to make sure that we will not be corrupted. And that's why I've gathered you all here today. I'm not great at speeches, but I'm sure you all know that King Blodri has shown signs of corruption. I've chosen all of you to come here for a reason, and that's because you have all been victims of King Blodri's corruption, including me. He took my wife..." he finished, feeling the ring in his pocket, holding back tears.
Then, he said, "Now, I ask you of one thing. Will you join me in my quest to rid Darknea of King Blodri's corruption?"
At first, no one did or said anything. But, after a little while, after Blosua had all but given up, one man spoke up and said, "I will join you." and after that, many other, almost all, had stood up and said they'd join.
Blosua smiled, knowing this was the beginning of a new life. Because of what he'd just started, he knew he was now known as a traitor, and they were all outlaws, so they'd have to be careful with every step. But, after King Blodri was gone, they could be at peace.

While the two fronts, the Darkneans and the Paladins, were preoccupied, Scorpion snuck around and silently made his way through the Paladin encampment, finally arriving at the back of the commander's tent. He got into a battle stance, then got ready for his attack. Quickly, he slashed a hole in the tent, jumped in, then quickly decapitated the commander, completely unsuspecting of the attack. Obviously, he wasn't a very good commander.
When that was over, Scorpion burst forth from the tent, then killed a couple more Paladins. While the rest of the Darknean forces attacked the Paladins from the front lines, Scorpion attacked from the rear.
One of the Paladins charged at Scorpion, but he slammed both his fists into the Paladins chest, then used his psychic abilities to strengthen his arms and lifted the Paladin over his head, then throw him. Then Scorpion picked his sword up again and stabbed another Paladin in the gut.

Beheading another Paladin, Leo took a quick look at his group of Hunters. Two or three had fallen to the Paladins, but the rest were starting to push the Larpurians back. Seeing one of the Darknean leaders (Scorpion, if I remember correctly) rush into the camp unnoticed, the dwarf led his people head-on into the Paladin ranks.
Scattering them, Leo divided the Hunters into groups to prepare for any counterattack.

Serene watched. She could see the battle easily. Her vision was better than normal. She had seen one of the paladins fall, then another. Did she know him? That one looked like a schoolmate. He had made good grades.
She had also known the darknean that took him down. He was a younger one. Serene remembers when he was a small child, a ruffian. She smiled when she remembered one of the pranks she had seen him pull.
Serene didn't know if she would be able to watch this battle anymore. She wasn't sure of too much anymore.
She had to do it. Serene lifted up her sword, and cast a spell. Behind the paladin encampment appeared a bright light, with a special symbol. The sign of retreat. One could only use this power if they had ever become a capitan or had been thought to have become one.
Hopefully the bright light of the spell will also stop the darkneans from following the paladins during the retreat.
Edit* The spell is a very high level/powerful one. It would take a power of even greater darkness to overcome it and diminish it. The spell is one of last resort and is nearly never broken in time to follow the paladins.

Arsto charged into the commander's tent, saying, "Sir, the symbol of retreat just-" but the commander was dead. Arsto cursed before charging back outside, only to meet the end of a blade pushed against his neck. At the other end of the blade was Scorpion.
Arsto knew it was over. There was no time to stop from getting hurt or telling the Darknean about the symbol of retreat.
Scorpion was about to stab the Paladin in the neck, but stopped himself. He couldn't do it, so he resheathed his sword. The Paladin nodded a silent thanks to the Darknean, then rank back to the Paladin forces. Since the commander was dead, he was next in command, and he said, "Retreat! Retreat!" and the Paladin forces began retreating.
At first, the Darkneans began chasing them down, but Scorpion said, "Let them go!" and the Darkneans stopped chasing them.
Then, Scorpion said, "Back to camp!" and the Darkneans began packing up, also carrying their dead, and then headed off towards camp.

Karkus rode into the battlefield, his massive blade in one hand, torch in the other. His horse at maxium speed, Karkus quickly chopped off a head of a paladin he flew by, throwing his torch at a nearby tent. An arrow struck Karkus in his chest, knocking him off his horse. Karkus quickly jumped back onto his feet, running towards a paladin and shoving his blade through his chest.
"Over here! Heres one!" A paladin shouted, several paladins surrounding Karkus. The Death Knight smiled, as he shoved his blade into the ground, sending the surrounding paladins flying, ten feet in the air, the fall killing them due to their heavy armour.
An arrow flew into Karkus' chest, he instantly knowing the owner of the arrow. Karkus pointed his blade at the archer, a green gas cloud surrounded the victum, destroying his lungs.
Karkus laughed as he cut off the head of another paladin, seeing that they retreated. Karkus hopped on his horse, and rode back to camp.

Name: Vexxus Uluman
Gender: Male
Age: 34
Class: Priest of the Dark Arts
Race: Goblin
Appearance: What do normal goblins look like? Short, green skinned beings. Vexxus is bald, with one of his ears missing a chunk. He has a gold nose ring.
Equipment: A brown cloak, with a medium sized satchel strapped to his back, which carries various herbs, books, and metal symbols.
History: Vexxus has always been one of those goblins with an eye for gold. No matter what he did, gold had to be involved. When he was little, his father had brainwashed him into being a priest, and so he did. But, seeing as he was always gambling, the other priests soon banned him from their rankings. After hearing about his current standings with the priests, his family shunned him. He was outcasted by the goblins, and still retains a hatred for the others of his race.
While he was outcasted, there was a time where he acted as a priest for hire, which is how he acquired his funding. It is also how he discovered the Dark Arts. While on his way to a blessing, Vexxus found himself gazing upon the merchandise of a traveling salesman. Within that one caravan, he spotted the first book of a series of 12. He read the first few pages and found this magic to be much more fitting of him than the priest business. He found the owner and bought the book, along with one of his metallic symbols. He finished his blessing and began studying the dark arts.
To this day, Vexxus has been trying to find the rest of the books and symbols he needs to be the best Dark Arts priest, currently he has 3 of the books and 11 out of 24 symbols. He allows his services to be bought temporarily, even against his own faction.
Faction: Darknea
Other: Due to Vexxus being an incredibly good Dark Arts Priest, he does know a few instant death spells. But they take so long to recite and normally require a donation of blood, he never uses them.

Angel stepped out of his portal and onto a ledge overlooking the fields where the battle between Paladins and Darkeans had just taken place. Angel simply stood there.
My brethren, my foolish brethren. If only the knew what these people were like, then they wouldn't have to fight. Little did Angel know, but the Paladins line of retreat crossed paths with the ledge he was standing on, and in that retreat, a few of the more snobbish paladins confronted him. There were three of them; two had long swords and the other had a battle axe. One of them stepped up, "You Darkean scum, prepare to die." Angel took one of his hands and held it in the air, letting a dark ball form. As he brought it down, it took the form of a whip and Angel flicked his wrists and wrapped it around all three of them. With the other hand, he conjured a portal and flung them into it; the portal dumped them back in the Northern lands.
Sometimes I'm glad that I'm not one of the Paladins anymore.

Name: Greak
Gender: Male
Age: 54
Class: Corrupted Masked One
Race: Demon
Appearance: Greak is a giant among dwarves; he stands at an astonishing 8 feet tall. Of course, his pale white skin and his glowing red eyes do not help opposing soldiers to overcome their fear of him. His skin is wrinkled like an old man's, and his arms and legs are decievingly lean. However, his body has been toned to become the ultimate killing tool, making him a force to be reckoned with.
Equipment: Greak's main weapon is a ball and chain, but he carries an executioner's sword on his belt as a secondary weapon. Otherwise, he is unarmed and unprotected.
History: Greak grew up in a military family; both his father and mother were known to be respected and powerful warriors willing to sacrifice it all, all in the name of balance. But while his parents excelled in violence and justice, they found themselves completely clueless as far as parenting went. So, they attempted to supress all weakness in their young son- something that they succeeded in all too well. Their son became a "little devil", taunting and torturing all who crossed his path. Since all of the other kids were afraid of him and his lack of emotion, Greak found himself alone most of the time, time he used to sharpen his hand to hand combat skills.
As time dragged on, Greak's parents grew apart from their son, so it was not any big deal to Greak when his parents fell to the forces of Demonica during an ambush in the southern front. At that time, it seemed natural to become a Masked One in order to revenge his parents' deaths, but his motives changed much quicker than he had expected. The first time he struck a fellow human and drew blood, a primal instinct rose up in him, an instinct which he had no interest in supressing.
He ended up leaving the Masked Ones voluntarily, but not without claiming two of his fellow teammates and twenty years of training. He was immediately snatched up by a strange man with paler skin than Greak had ever seen. He offered Greak the ability to quench his bloodlust, as well as attain the perfect body- Greak could sacrifice his human roots and become a full blooded demon. After draining all of his blood onto the cold ground and refilling it with the mysterious demon's, Greak left the corpse of the sole person who had sacrificed himself for Greak's well-being for the tower of the Demonican King.

When the Darkneans had come close enough, the man rode up to the commander and said something to her, and the two went a safe distance away, so no one could hear them, and talked. When they were finished, the man rode off and the commander rode back up to the Darknean forces.
She said, "I've just gotten a message from our general. Now, we're to ride off to a Darknean camp south of here. Apparently, communications between it and the maincity have been cut off, and we must investigate. Start packing up camp." before she rode off to do her share of the work.

Vexxus found himself on the road.
He had enough money for a horse, but he was too small to fit on the back of horses. So, a horse was pointless in his case. He had heard of a close Darknea camp close to him, but it was to the south and he wouldn't reach it for another two days. Using his staff as a walking stick, he set off to his awaiting camp, wondering if anyone would pay for his services on the way.

IC: The Darknean forces slowly made their way south, passing through several Darknean settlements, renewing their supplies there, otherwise meeting little resistance.
Eventually, they came to the camp they were supposed to investigate, and they were suprised at what they found. The entire camp was burned to the ground. Only ashes lay as proof of its existence. The commander cursed before riding up to the camp, the others following.
Scorpion was wary, and it paid off. He heard something soaring through the air, a silent wind whipping around it. Then there was a bright flash as whatever it was lit on fire, and it was heading towards a dwarf. Scorpion quickly acted, knocking the dwarf out of the way in time. It was the one named Leo, whom Scorpion knew little about. Then Scorpion saw what had attacked them. It was a damned shaman, throwing bombs which lit alight right before they hit the target.

While the Darkneans worked to repel the forces of the Paladins and their misguided sense of light, a simultaneous battle was beginning on the other side of the world, where the Darkneans worked to repel a force that could consider itself evil. This force was the Demonicans, a force of which Greak was involved in. He was a demon, a being who had completely given up its past in sacrifice for power, and the ability to kill all who opposed it that much better. Greak was in an extremely good mood; the Darknean forces had been weakening becoming lazy as of late; as a result, Demonicans forces had moved further in further into Darknean territory. In fact, a few scouts had managed to break through to the Northern Lands and cause havok. But Greak would be patient to unleash his power upon the Paladins; he was not interested in suicidal missions at all. He was perfectly content slaughtering those much closer to home, and giving the Darkneans a healthy dose of fear. Greak simply couldn't decide whether they were brave or idiotic as a Masked One approached him, drawing out a segmented sword.
Greak's ball and chain came out instantly, already moving to block the sword's first strike. Greak's weapon wrapped around his opponent's, and Greak used this opportunity to fling the Masked One like a ragdoll onto the ground beneath him, leaving the man motionless and bleeding on the unforgiving ground. Out came Greak's other favorite weapon, using it like a nutcracker to shatter the man's kneecaps and elbows. After taking a deep breath to better enjoy the moment, Greak let it out as a deep, almost melodious laugh as the man screamed. Greak reached a hand down to the trembling man and ripped off his hood, folding it up and putting it in a huge satchel he carried at his side. As a finishing touch, with one quick swipe, Greak lopped off the head of his adversary. The dismembered head stared at him blankly as the demon walked off, in search of more Darkneans to slaughter.

Angel traveled the lands in the only fitting way; via portals. After one such trip, he found himself face-to-face with three rather unusual characters. Bandits? Demonicans? I mean, they are ugly enough to be Demonicans, but still, only one way to be sure.
Angel channeled some pure energy from inside himself and let it float into the air. At this, the "bandits," who are now "Demonicans," turned their heads and their eyes glowed green. Well, that answers that. Angel recorded this down in his memory and made a portal for escape, little did he know another couple of them were there and they got behind him before he could flee.
Two of them there were, and they held tight onto each of his arms. No! If they get through that portal, then we're fi-. No, they won't. Angel flipped the Demonicans over his shoulders with a flick of the wrists. Slowly out of his arms came spikes of numerous sizes and they were followed by wings of black flame emerging from his back. He hovered only 10 feet above the ground, but it was enough to attract the attention of the others. He focused on the portal as best he could to make it close, and finally succeeded, but not until one of the demons manged to jump up and latch itself to his torso. It was at this time that he realized that these were Leapers and could easily be defeated. He squeezed his spiked arms into the sides of the Leaper until it dropped to the ground, dead. Once this one was dead Angel shot the spikes out of his arms at the remaining ones before drifting back to a safe enough distance to teleport away. More encampments of these Demonicans should be enough to keep Lord Omdes preoccupied.
