This is an old suggestion which was mentioned a very long time, but it still hasn't been implemented yet.

Basically, just rename the Screenshot Place to something like RuneScape Media, and change the name of Screenshot Help to Screenshot/Video Help and Other Screenshots to Other Screenshots/Videos.

As you can see, the emphasis in this suggestion is on videos. At the moment, videos are scattered all over the place - in General RS Discussion, the Scape Lounge, and other places - this suggestion will keep all the videos close together in one central location.

I agree, i have made threads about this as well, and supported all the others i have seen. It would make things so much more organized, and make the screenshot place more active

I haven't noticed much RuneScape related videos going around, excluding the entries for the Machinima Competition. Most likely after the Competition finishes, there won't be much of a popularity in videos here. I could be wrong though. But despite that, I'm all for this minor edit .

I don't see the need to change its name; there's little to no threads about videos around (although I haven't checked in Screenshot Help). Although it won't harm anyone to change it and so I support.

A subforum for video fakes isn't necessary. They fit perfectly fine under fakes, and I haven't seen too many video fakes for it to warrant its own subforum, anyway.

That's going to be included in IPB 3.0.2, which we should be upgrading to fairly soon. But to be honest, I think the tag should be included on every part of the forum. In General Chat it would be helpful to provide a video along with a news article, in Entertainment it would be great to see a video such as a trailer in a movie topic.

@Razorlike, the youtube bbcode has a html replacement that can be made in custom bbcodes, I know the html so that shouldn't be a problem, also that is just 1 more forum than now?? I mean I did put "?????" so it doesn't have to be implanted.

I really don't think merging Achievements and Skill Logs is a good idea, it can be hard enough to keep a log going already without it being full of Achievement topics too. I do though support the renaming of 'Screenshot Help' to 'Media Help' and 'Other Screenshots' to 'Other Media', it would make the Screenshot Place easier to use for both those unfamiliar with it and the more familiar faces too.

What about "request media", surely that would make the suggestions forum thrive more.

Like I said, the Youtube BBCode is going to come pre-installed with IPB 3.0.2. According to Sal, we should be upgrading to that version of the forums fairly soon.


What do you mean by that? A "Request RS Media" forum in the suggestions forum or the media forum?

1st: It will only take like 1 minute to put the custom bbcode in, why not put it in now for an expense of 1 minute, no mod needed it is a function setting in custom bbcodes.

2nd: In the media forum.

I don't think a request media subforum would be used too much, it's not like the digital gallery where you can request a sig, videos are a bit harder to make

That would be pointless. I've never seen a fake "request" before, and if you wanted a fake, you'd learn the ropes a bit and do it yourself.

There have been quite a few requests for fakes to be made in the past, but there's hardly enough to have it deserve a sub-forum of its own.

Well The Screenshot Place forum already has five sub-forums.



As usual, the Fakes sub-forum should remain Screenshot Fakes as I don't believe there is such thing as a video fake (correct me if I'm wrong).

So really, all the suggestion entails is the renaming of The Screenshot Place (to RuneScape Media), Screenshot Help (to Media Help) and Other Screenshots (to Other Media), as well as the slight changing of the forum descriptions.

Media would be including really screenshots, videos (which also includes music videos).

However the suggestion should be implemented if we find RuneScape videos to be a popular thing.

Usually the people who request fakes are the people with some RS suggestion topic up their sleeve. A fake can help out with a suggestion as it can serve as a visual aid. Despite this, there still shouldn't be a subforum entirely for requesting fakes. After all, there aren't too many requests for fakes for it to warrant its own subforum.

Besides don't people doing suggestions usually pm the faker, like there's 2 or 3 people that I would trust to do fakes for me if I requested, but that's it .

There are quite a few requests made; some people request in their suggestion, some make a topic, some pm well known fakers. But it doesnt deserve its own subforum. Maybe if theres an announcement or a sticky in suggestions saying that if they want a fake to make a post in the faking forum asking for it.

Exactly, for the time i've been here, i've seen maybe 3 or 4 topics about a fake request, but i have gotten many PMs asking for me to make a fake for various suggestions.

Maybe in the "Media Help" subforum, the description could be, "Ask questions about making movies/screenshots, or request a fake here!"

Exactly, it's not going to cause anything negative. We should do it before it becomes overwhelming. It's a simple change that just helps organize things better, I don't see why we wouldn't (or shouldn't) do this.

And it may also promote more videos to be made

On the subject of requesting Fakes, why not just create a topic in the existing forum, where anyone can contribute/help make a fake? If it's successful then it could be stickied, if it's not needed then it'll die anyway.

I agree with Goggie. Merging Achievements with Skill Logs is really gonna make the skill loggers mad. Skill logs are hard enough to keep on the first or second page and merging them with the random level/max hits/ My first 1M isnt gonna help.



Lots of people request fakes for their "RuneScape Suggestion" And this feature could give them a place to post instead of mass-private messaging the fakers.

The problem with that is, the fakes forum is very tucked away and quite hard to find, and there are funny rumours of what goes on in there

I disagree, you can see it on the main page, making it no harder to find than any other subforum.

The thing is, we have tried making topics like that. In fact, i remember Easl making one a few months ago (i think.) The problem with a topic like that is, we have alot of fakers in that section who bump it off the first page, and since there not much reason for us fakers to post, it dies pretty quickly. I think if it was stickied on the Suggestions forum it would be alot easier to find, and used.

What does it have to do with the Suggestions Forum? Wouldn't it be better off stickied in the Fakes forum, seeing as that's what the Forum is for?

Well the suggestions forum is for things not in the game you see, and fakers make things not in the game. Its a bit of a stretch and a bad example I know, but surely theres a small link?...

@easl, Goggie, chaoss: Just go with the sticky idea. In the sticky, say that fakes can serve as a very useful visual aid to any suggestion. Then, just have a link going to the fakes forum and people can request fakes there.

A video of what you're doing right now and other things. Like a diary but it's made entirely of videos.

The thing is, not many random people go in the Fakes section, so finding the sticky for suggestions would never be used. If they had on in the suggestions forums i think it would be used more and easier to find.
