Wouldn't it be better to require people on it to log on once every 3 months to stay on it? There's some on the first page that haven't logged in in 6 months or even a year. Just seems odd that people who aren't really members of the community are on our highscores.

Yes, i agree. If you want to be submitted to the high scores, you should be dedicated to the site, or at least visit it on a regular basis.

I think one of the first peoplel, in fact, only has like 30 posts, so they may have signed up just to brag about their level.

But yea, i agree with this suggestion smile.gif

the guy ranked 8th has 46 posts and last logged on over a year ago so i support this.

There should be a post count limit of 30+ or 60+, like the blogs. This would show that they are a dedicated member of the community we have to offer. Of course, they can also spam they're post count up, but then again, I know I wouldn't want to wait 20 seconds after every post, for 60 posts just to show off some high numbers.

That's what i was trying to get at wink.gif

Yes, having a post count minimum should be required, maybe make it as high as 100, because then it really shows you care about the forum, and not by getting popular from your skill level. cute.png

The number 3 guy hasn't been on since April...slanty.gif

You should have to log on once every month. If you don't, you just have to resetup your high scores when you log on. Gets rid of the people who just log on to brag and will never come back again. smile.gif

But there should be a required number of posts so you don't have to do that, like 1000 or 2000.

Logging on once every three months is very different from being a consistent and constant poster. This would do little as a solution to this matter.

If there were to be a solution, I support the post count expectation. But people have to keep in mind that any member of this forum has the same chance of becoming inactive and leaving the forum as anyone else. 30 posts is just not sufficient. 100 posts is decent enough.

But remember you can't get rid of inactivity - it's something that will always be there.

I was thinking maybe a quarterly check of say the first 10 pages of the highscores by mods who can pass on inactives to admins to remove.

Ideally we want something like 30 posts EACH MONTH or something; maybe 100 every 3 months? Is that even possible? If we go for total posts 250 is a decent number imo.

1000 is definatly pushing it, i know a lot of members here who have been active for 2 years + and don't have 1000 posts yet.

I still think 100 posts is the right number, just high enough to make you have to be active, but not low enough in where you can spam to get your post count up.

I agree to the post count limit, but there are some people who are high up on the hiscores (Sneezingtree or MRC as an example) that have made alot of posts but aren't particularly active.

Staff Members have a lot of duties to perform on the board as well as their regular browsing and posting. I'm not sure they would want another bundle of work thrown on them.

It'd be very hard and tiring to keep track of every user on the Highscores list to make sure they are getting x amount of posts every y month/s.

100 posts, as Chaoss stated, is perfectly fine. And I do agree that 1000 posts is quite extreme. I've been here three or so years and I'm only on 655 posts laugh.gif .

Sneezingtree logged on today smile.gif .
