I never knew I needed it that much, but I need help to get my images able to work!

I upload them to ImageShack fine but when I make something transparent it won't show. This is the image I want as my avatar:

I made it transparent inside GIMP and then in aviary, nothing. I tried it aging and it didn't even show but they do when I look inside the main folder on my computer. I thought the file name might be wrong and when I go into MS Paint
it says save file as "24-bit Bitmap"? I've never even heard of it and almost all of my pictures I've ever done inside Paint are that file format. I've tried it on a totally different image and that didn't show either.

I'll try it on a image of this screen right now. Result: didn't even show on image shack.

Please if you you have any idea tell me! I'm lost and I need the images to able to work. sad.gif

Try saving the image as a gif file. Add to the end of the name of the image .gif

It stops working every now and then.

JPG image format doesn't support transparent colors. GIF supports 1 and PNG supports multiple. GIF doesn't support all 16.7 million computer recognized colors and also compresses images more than PNG often causing discoloring and blurry images. I suggest you just use PNG. More info can be found in my tutorial.

Edit (instead of reply because this thread is dead): If you use GIMP or Photoshop, set the canvas to be transparent and delete or erase the background. Then save it as a PNG or GIF. Like I said, JPG doesn't support transparent backgrounds. MSPaint doesn't have the ability to create a transparent canvas, so that won't work either. Both of those points are exactly the problem. wink.gif

That has nothing to do with it. My images won't download to imageshack.

I think I found the problem! I don't think I can upload images that were used inside GIMP or Picnik (the image editors I use.) they don't agree when I want to upload all my stuff I edited inside them. slanty.gif
